Fact: They had enough footage to create at least 2 more movies. So much so that they used the extra footage for the teasers, most of which wasn't in the theatrical or even the unrated cuts. The only teaser scene I could remember was Katie and Kristi playing Bloody Mary and Katie scaring Kristi. They leave the bathroom and you can see a shadow lurking

I really hated when they released material in the trailers that would never make it to the final footage even as a longer version, especially since it would have been better to see the girls playing bloody mary or also the house fire (which never happens in the movie but it is mentioned in the others, and that is why it was necessary for that to happen in this movie at some point so that it would be consistent with the facts that had already been presented to us)

Out of interest, does any of the unused footage explain away some of the plot holes? Like, why didn't Grandma indoctrinate her daughter? Why don't Katie and Kristy remember their apparent childhood complicity in the coven when they are adults? Who or what stole the tapes we are watching and why?

I love you both, your commentary is sending me! I was about the age Katie is here and let me tell you, us 80's children were practically feral. Sleeping in a tent in your backyard with your friends was a totally normal thing to do, parents slept inside, and they just felt totally safe and like nobody would come into the yard and steal you. Your concern is adorable and so sweet but it also makes me feel like an old hag (and like someone would call CPS on me if I had children these days) reminiscing about "the 1900s".

I could see this whole premise happening with michaelmyers lol. He was normal at one time but then had a imaginary friend that he talked to started acting wierd after that. Maybe he let it in or it turned him ti the dark side lol. Probably not hard fir a troubled kid lol. Plus the cult and what we learn in 4 I think. We don't learn too much about cult in this one I think lol. No spoilers lol. But those creepy cult witches sitting in the dark when he turned on lights oh shot and that grandma lol. I couldn't wait for this lol. Had to see this in theaters lol. Heard the end supposed to melt your brain or mess you up at that time yeah it was crazy lol.

I never understood why the grandma just gave zero F’s about her daughter dying- was she just done having babies before she had a boy, and that made her dead weight? And how did Katie and Christy get so far into their adult lives ‘normally,’ wouldn’t it have been more efficient for the coven to raise them into like, arranged marriages? I realize they basically just threw shit at the wall writing this series, but I have endless questions. 😅
