Sitting here thinking about it......I think so. In terms of how it made me feel. Midsommar was close. It chapter 2 is more popcorn flick. If we are talking thriller/horror. Its sharp as hell in the editing and preforming.
The trailer does not give away much. But I got the better deal coz I never saw any trailer nor read any reviews. The best way of enjoying this film it turns out.
ABSOLUTELY! Joker felt empty, just riding on the surface with a pretty weak argument of the Haves vs Have Nots, ESPECIALLY compared to a REAL masterpiece like Parasite. I can't wait to watch this movie again!!
@@BlownMacTruck exactly!! The complexity of the story couples by the flawless execution, directing, and acting in Parasite, as well as everything made for practically a perfect film
100/100 Bong Joon Ho has really outdone himself with this masterpiece. Korea's Godfather of all Korean films. This film will go down in the history books as one of the greatest foriegn films of all time.
The hype is real, the film is fantastic. I saw it at the New York Film Festival a few weeks back, haven’t stopped thinking about it. Just need to see it again: truly the best film of 2019, as well as one of the best of the decade.
I've watched it already and I just want to say.... I've never moved on.it embeds the dark reality of today's world in your mind.in a way you can never forget.
@@priyotomo203 I think you are wrong, sure they have similar themes regarding the opulent and the poor but parasite egedes out with its edgy twist and screenplay. Just think about how systematically a less fortunate family latched themselves on to the naive rich family like a parasite.
All this hype and praise it would almost certainly seem like it would have to be a disappointment at this point but nope. It is actually better than you can imagine.
Do yourself a favor and see this incredible film. Wow. It's the type of film that makes you remember why the art-form exists in the first place. The actors are all stellar, the writers have crafted a compelling and believable story that hooks you from the beginning, the cinematography is rich, layered enough to make you crave multiple viewings, and best of all, director Bong-Joon-Ho has topped himself once again with delicate, confident and subtle direction that will make you forget that you're not simply watching real people. This is one of those films that I cannot praise enough. It is by FAR the greatest film of 2019, and can stand tall with the best of the past decade.
Amazing Movie 10/10 i watched this, Oscar Nominated for Best Picture, Director, Screenplay, Score, Cinematography i'm sure. RT Score 100% n Metacritic 92/10 so far
Absolutely brilliant film that is so layered between satire, suspense, horror and class commentary that it just stays with you. Deserving of all its awards. I know this kind of film could never have been made by an American or British director or studio.
Parasite, Endgame, Joker, Midsommar, 1917, once upon a time in hollywood, and so much more. 2019 was the best year of cinema in my opinion. Several of the greatest movies of all time released that year.
i love how none of the trailers give away the true plot of the film. you could watch 100 versions of the movie and still wouldn’t know what its talking about until /that/ moment that changes everything. amazing, amazing movie!
@@chopsuey.6562 I saw it with subtitles, and honestly as someone who watches most international films/tv with subtitles, I really wouldn't want to watch a dub. Idk it just kinda ruins the experience for me ya feel? Each person is different though I can respect that, but yeah i think particularly for this film, just go with the subs
@@AdventuresofMeg Yeah I get what you mean. Its just that sometimes its can get pretty hard keeping up with the subtitles & the picture at the same time, but I'll definately go try this one out coz its showing at our local cinema.
As someone who doesn’t know watch a lot of foreign language films this was by far my favorite first foreign language film. My advice to people debating whether or not to see this is simple: GO FOR IT!!!! This was hands down one of my favorite movies of 2019 and it goes on my list of favorite movies of all time. So glad it is nominated for 6 Academy Awards. I really hope it cleans house and wins all the awards it was nominated for. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a cinematic experience of a masterpiece!!!!!
Interesting behind-the-scene details you probably didn't know: The neighborhoods of the slum and the mansion were all built inside a water tank! They also added a popular k-beauty ingredient (clay used in masks) into the flood waters to help beautify the actors' skin! 😂 GENIUS!
I can't fathom that only English spoken are always given the best picture. There are more quality foreign language movies than what most Hollywood does. That's why I admire the old film festival in Europe because they win regardless of the language.
I think the past two year's farces of awards shows are finally waking people up to the objective fact that the Academy is fucking trash and not the foremost critics of noteworthy movies.
well all the korean movie fans had been told by the director Bong until the movie was released in May in Korea.. 'Never reveal the story including a synopsis until the film is released..' and i watched it without a clue and it didnt disappoint me. ^^
They did a good job with the trailer. I already watch the movie. The trailer tells you almost everything you need know but in a way you don't really understand what's going on at the same time.
“Parasite” took home the top prize at the 92nd Academy Awards Sunday night. It is the first non-English language film to win the best picture award. The movie was considered an underdog headed into the ceremony, beating out strong competition from “1917” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” for the best picture win. The film also won the award for best international feature, best director and best original screenplay. It is South Korea’s first nominated film.
I watched it here in Australia and I must say, it is one of the most well-written films of 2019 despite having some of the most absurb plot points - a very difficult thing to achieve.
It was beautifully exectued the way the director tied in different genres so seamlessly to invoke so many different emotions is a masterwork. No wonder this is thebhoghest rated movie of all time behind godfather
I really thought it was a fictional suspense thriller involving insects and plagues. But it was deeper, relevant and focused on capitalism - an incessant societal issue! I like the hidden twists and morals of this uniquely-conspired film. Outstanding that viewers would be attached, return to watch again.
This movie was good and that’s surprising for me to say since I’m very picky with movies. I just wanna thank everybody envolved in making this film. Thank you!
I know this might sound crazy, but I added this movie in my top 10 favorite movies of all time! Even though Joker is to me my favorite movie of 2019, this movie just really impressed me with its originality, humor, acting and the twist!
You guys should watch Awe (2018), an Indian film. It is a piece of art. Genre blending. Really entertaining. But you need to approach it like Parasite. Don't watch the trailer, don't read anything about it. Go in blind. Enjoy! ✌
