@@scottthescottish Actually i would say director was justified. He is a role model for other directors, he brillantly uses ideas from the people who inspired him into his own works. He improves apon others. In his speeches he talks about this
@@Kamandi1971 No one cares? Then how come many people were celebrating Parasite's win? Parasite is a masterpiece and the best movie amongs all the nominees. F*ck off already
This is the first time in years that the Academy actually picked a Best Picture Winner that was actually relevant to what's happening in the world instead of some film that's artsy and cult, a white savior flick or some Hollywood insider pic. The theme of wealth inequality will resonant for years to come. Too bad the Academy was too racist not to nominate anyone from the cast though.
Are you kidding? For at least the past 10 years the Academy has been picking movies based on what they think sends the best message. Plus, the oscars arent SUPPOSED to have anything at all to do with whats going on in the world. Its an awards show for movies, not for news broadcasting. How does cinematography/sound design/directing/etc have anything at all to do with current world issues? Politics shouldn't even be anywhere near the Oscars, which is exactly why the Oscars viewership has been ailing and why nobody takes the oscars seriously anymore. Look how Black Panther won 3 oscars. How can anyone say with a straight face that black panther is anything other than another marvel schlockfest. Infinity war was marvels only decent movie and it was snubbed. Black Panther won because they wanted to 'send the right message'. Fuck that.
@Critique Everything Parasite was a fantastic film, that's beside the point. The Academy doesnt vote based on what's good, they vote based on wokeness. I do believe Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was a more landmark movie in cinema but nonetheless i have no problem with Parasite winning, however of Parasite wasn't as good, it still would have won because it's foreign and because of its social themes. When it comes to me, im actually 28, and i'm a huge film buff. I've literally seen thousands of movies. I've seen movies from all corners of the earth and many of my favourite movies are foreign, infact Memories of Murder (by the same director) is one of my personal favourites. So please stop speaking from a place of assumptions and ignorance. Grow up.
I love that they won all the awards they deserved to win, but something rubs me so wrong about seeing a room of rich celebrities applauding a film about how out of touch the rich are with the plight of the poor. Just saying, something tells me that a lot of Academy members watched it and got the wrong message...
while this is true, its also true that a lot of Hollywood at least supports the liberal ideologies that would bring about change for the lower classes. its not a bad thing that Hollywood recognized this film and this filmmaker
lmao this such a terrible take. Not because they’re rich and successful now means they always were. The critique of the film goes to those rich people who are like that because they always were or had an easy way to get where they are. Most actors and directors were like you and me and are where they are because of hard work.
Love the genuine excitement of all especially Diane Keaton and Kathy Bates. Show of Diversity Equity and Inclusion at its best. In the Arts. Great example of merit and how we support each other despite our differences.
I always thought Oscars are for English movies , if they were considering foreign language movies also all these times, then how the hell did movies like Argo , crash , hurt locker win these categories ? It's just sad
@@Shotolol2003 if ur not aware, Sam Mendes was set to win all the Best Director awards of that year for 1917. Because many of the award shows still didn't believe a foreign language film winning. Then the Oscars chose Parasite over 1917 in all the categories 😜😜😜😜
okay and??? it has no connection here??? I love LOR but why are you putting it on here??? what happened that night was really an amazing moment for foreign movies bc it gave them more exposure. it’s not often to see movies such as this being recognized in western awards and to be able to breakthrough and have an impact is amazing. So yeah shut up
It's great film but let's be honest, it was a token Oscar award to showcase diversity. The poor and borderline corny ending of it kinda spoiled the whole thing.
How ist the ending corny? If anything it is tragic. SPOILER The son makes a plan that he won't be able to achive, because it was established before, that the only plan that will succed is the no-plan (so not having a plan at all). So the son will chase an unreachable dream, the sister is dead and the father will die alone in the house, because he can't leave. So again, how ist that ending corny?
It was a better story than any of the others up for nomination. I really loved the ending. I know I’m not the only one, you can have a different POV and it still be worthy of the awards it won on its own merit.
How come any time POC win something, it's always called token? Why can't it just be because the movie was good? Also it sounds like you didn't pay attention to the ending at all
