This was such a relatable anime for me. The story of a boy who gets in trouble with his parents, girls, the police... all because he can't control his right hand
Honestly, I loved this whole concept. Not only was this a turning point where Shinichi became less human but the whole concept of Migi detaching and pumping blood for him was so interesting to me, and so unique. I loved this episode, even though it was heartbreaking as well.
Ik this is late but I think that’s when he became the realest human. Humans tend to live in fantasy where they think bad things don’t happen or people cant be bad. People die. People kill people. Life isn’t as great as we think it is. Chasing happiness makes you blind to death .
@@bambisbluebell as well as Migi becoming less animalistic/rational. It's like Migi was developing emotions like empathy and compassion. The point where he says he can no longer end his own kind because it's too much for him or something was 'chefs kiss'.
@@jameschristopher2540 Absolutely! It really shows how they've changed each other and how they've started to rely on each other, in less than a physical level.
I love that by the end of the show migi shows that he learned empathy by saving shinichi's gf. As if to say empathy isnt irrational but a deeper kind of rationality.
Or rather, that rationality is survival, but compassion is beyond survival. Focusing beyond your own needs such as survival is a better and more powerful way of living.
I love this transition of Izumi’s character. This is where he lost most of his human emotions and embraced what he became to kill any parasyte he came across
This was the turning point. This was when the series became truly agonizing to watch. Not because it was bad or because this was just too sad... but because it was far too real. Shinichi finds out his mother is dead... and is then assaulted near-fatally by her visage. The trauma of loss, then the trauma of perceived betrayal. Everything changes here. His body is scarred in ways that externalize his inward trauma, and everything about him starts to change from his physical abilities to his behavior and emotional spectrum... and so he starts thinking he's becoming less human. And when he threw away the puppy's corpse, we wanted so badly to hug him and tell him that it was okay... that he wasn't becoming a sociopath or a monster... that he was just struggling to process the concept of death and its effect on the living... that a part of him was trying to devalue the dead in a desperate bid for normalcy, as if it would make the death of his mother less tragic and horrific. This is the most thoroughly written media portrayal of PTSD we've seen... not only exploring the "shell shock," but the depression and many-faceted alienation. The feeling of your trauma holding a knife to every throat surrounding you. The feeling of becoming less human - becoming an unfeeling or hateful monster. Losing or nearly losing friends because they can't understand because you sincerely can't find a way to tell them what's happening to you.
Correction... FATALLY wounded. If not for migi learning how the human body works to such a fine point earlier to the point he could repair the damage, he wouldn’t have survived.
Correct. Every other one of the "parasite" species (besides the mouth one) attack/consumed/replaced the brain of their host, effectively becoming them. Migi failed to do this, and so his host maintained his existence. This led Migi to tie its existence to his host's welfare, and even care for his wellbeing independent of its own survival. The definition of a symbiote.
@@dontreadmychanneldescripti7104 AFTER failing in its effort to become a parasite and in turn was forced to become a symbiote (at which point yes Migi grew to care for for its host)
I love how this is presented. Usually, most anime and manga have the main character have to kill someone who resembles somebody important to them and they struggle despite being aware of the fact it isn't them. This person is also usually dead for quite a while. This situation is also usually used to easily make the character get over the death. However, shinichi barely had time to process this and didn't even expect his mother to walk in so he just goes into complete denial
This is what I really love about this anime. The fact that he has parents, who he loves, and who loved him, and the effects of what happens actually hold emotional weight
I honestly cried so hard while watching this episode, also the part later where the other alien lady transferred to her mom’s looking and comfort him. It touched my heart so deep. Because my mom and I were in different countries that time, and I just fking missed my mom so much, and I was so scared that I couldn’t see my mom any more, like this poor dude.
This anime was incredible. As graphic as it was, I was gripped by the philosophy behind it and it made me think a lot. Definitely a favorite from this decade.
To answer the question The designer of this anime also did the designs for Yuri on Ice. That's why characters look similar They're in the same art style
they're not technically in the same universe since both animes were created by different people, they just had the same designer. But, it would be a pretty interesting concept if they were in the same universe.
Me:Mom!!! Where's my laptop? Mom:I throw it in to the trash can Me:Why Mom:Look at your wall (look at the wall)thats my test Mom:Yeah! You sucks FTE(fuk the exams)
4:42 That look... It shows that Izumi is no longer a child, he became an adult in just a moment. But the reason for this transformation is so sad... I think these 3 episodes are the saddest in the whole series...
The hand parasite is the best..........imagine a head .....or a dog........the series would have flopped by now if shinichi got a parasite for his head.......I must admit....he is so handsome😄
This whole bit had me. Just wow, so well thought out and executed. It's the first show in a long time to get a real feeling out of me. The mom part most of all.
I remembered watching this anime at 2015 when it first premiered on Toonami and I instantly fell in love with it. One of the best animes I ever watched in my opinion.
I’m glad this alien is doing it’s best to save his host. Even if it was symbiotic at some point in the series. It really shows how much he connected with his host/friend.
One of the best anime I watched in a Long time, the consciousness and evolving was out of this world. Thank you who ever made this in still in aww the storyline is FANTASTIC THANK YOU ☯️♎🧬❤️👽☯️♎❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sorry, but I thought it was really a beautiful sunset. Seeing your loved one decapitated right in front of you. Dark humor, everybody. Sarcasm excluded.
@@Love_Nyxus Yeah I get it... sunset... dark humour... but I've yet to locate the actual *humour* part. Personally, I would have gone down the whole decapitation route myself.
Shinichi didn't become less empathetic because he became part parasite, he was less empathetic because he was just emotionally drained and suffering extreme grief from losing his mother and had to kill the thing riding his mothers body. He just detached until the end when he felt it was safe to feel again. Man had ptsd, and was just in survival mode.
Shinichi's not believing Migi for a bit nearly cost him big time. Once he's healed, he starts to realize he may have misunderstood Migi. Thank goodness for Migi, that was a close call.
this was so incredibly fucked up seeing shinichi have to face a parasyte identical to his mom.... incredible show definitely one of the best anime ever made
Don’t know about you guys, but the music at the start was awesome, plus despite being in total contrast with the actual events it gave a glimmer of hope to Shinichi and the audience, furthermore I find that it accentuated the shock that followed immediately after, same thing for the Kana death scene
When I watched this part of the series man it was depressing. Who else thinks that part of the reason Shinichi became cold after wasn't fully just Migi's cells but really becoming numb to everything after that event. Thats why he was able to cry again when Ryouko gave him the baby while transformed as his mother.
