I went on this with my dad when was 18 it was very windy it might have even gone backwards dad didn't like it ,I was too bussy laughing at dad to be scarred lol ha ha
whenever i see this ride i think of that horror movie the fury where that evil psychic dude looked at this ride and sped it up so fast that one of the cars flew off and hurled it into the window of a restaurant
I've decided that "Train In Vain" is the best song to listen to while riding the Paratrooper. It's the same tempo as the ride, it's about as long as one cycle of the ride, and it just kicks ass! Don't believe me? Sync it up.
So they had this ride at my fair and they had it going so fast that literally when it went around the top the seat was at the angle that the ride is tilted. I don't think it's meant to go that fast1!!
They can go surprisingly fast...but very rarely are they run at that speed because this is a ride that can definitely induce nausea. It also becomes increasingly more scary when they 'pour it on'. Many parks use this more as a family ride and it is often a 'first' big ride to go on with a child. So many parks 'tone it down'. Also running it at high speed constantly does put more wear on the joints, that would mean more maintenance. So that is why you don't see these run full bore. Finally most of the these style Paratroopers were made by Hrubetz, of which is no longer in business. So I am not sure if another company has picked up making the parts for these (I believe they have because there are so many of these style Paratroopers still around.) The good thing is that Hrubetz made some of the best built American rides ever. They really designed these Paratroopers to last a long time. The testament to the build of these rides is how many are still around that were built in the 60's and 70's. Hrubetz also made the famous 'Round Up' ride which is another ride often featured at a fair or park and there are tons of those still around.
The paratrooper ride is a fun ride the one they bring to the Chemung county fair goes forward and in reverse it is rare to find one like that. I also have a video on youtube it is titled Robert Gildea preaches. I put the video on youtube to reach the youth of America with touretes syndrome with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. People with touretes can understand the Gospel touretes is nueralogical not mental your friend in Jesus Robert Gildea Elmira NY Romans 6:23
They should have more paratroopers at fun fairs these ones that stop at the top and go back wards the normal ones they have at butlins and the super trooper paratroopers
