@@leuqetsniksoh8590 It’s a super popular Reddit story where OP’s golden child brother Dan made OP’s life hell since his parents always sided with Dan, even Dan’s wife wasn’t any better as she was directly toxic with the OP. At some point, the OP was kicked out of his house, and when the OP made a living for himself, his family tracked him down and tried to take his new house, saying that they need the extra space for Dan’s family since they were still living with OP’s parents. OP stood his ground and refused to hand over his house, so the family tried everything in the book to try and take the house from OP with no success. Most notably, they kept trying to manipulate the OP by saying stuff like “Do It For Dan! He’s your brother!” repeatedly, but it never works and they made themselves look like fools. The sheer absurdity of their entitlement was so entertaining that their manipulation tactics became a meme in the community for stories involving golden children trying to use their biased family to take everything from their siblings.

I had a very hard time remaining non-judgmental because it seemed like they had a good marriage otherwise. But, where were HER parents when this happened? My guess is they didn’t want to cause controversy and drama and ruin their reputation. My client had major alcohol issues that were compromising her health at only 38. In story 1, this kind of thing happens all the time, and it blows my mind how entire families can gang up on one member. And against one's own child or twin? That's insane to me. But you make a good point, a lot of the little details kept changing throught the course of the storytelling (ages, length of time from Event A to Event B or Event C). Could be one of 3 things: 1) This nightmare 100% happened to the redditor but wanted to tweak little inconsequential details to make it truly anonymous but they lost track of the changes; 2) some of the events actually happened, and rhe redditor created a very loose semi-autobiographical story; or 3) the entire thing is 100% a work of fiction (either by AI or an imaginative redditor) about a horrible, heartbreaking situation that unfortunately a lot of kids find themselves in due to crappy parenting and/or narcissistic siblings. Some people just don't deserve to be parents.

@@b-trunksed5902 dude, 17 is no child. Also, like when parents "take no side" by not stopping the bully sibling enable the bad behavior, here the daughter did the same. She covered for a cheater. She betrayed her father. It's despicable.

The dad in the second story is NTA. Even if the daughter was 15 maybe 14 basically a freshman or sophomore in highschool. she would still know right from wrong. Shes not a damn child. She kept it a secret for a year. Even if she "didnt want to split the family" it was morally wrong and she knew it. What he taught her is "hey its okay to keep secrets that harm people cause its not your fault. Your not the one who did it, so even though you know who and how long your not at fault!" I guarantee she probably still spends the weekends with her mom as well

Story 2: everyone keeps attacking the child when she was probably being emotionally blackmailed, i mean where did the idea of “this will ruin our family” come from? The mom was probably emotionally abusing her to keep her quiet, which is why she feel guilty, if she kept it on her own she would feel less guilty because it was her choice, but she was forced into keeping quiet, at least thats how it comes across to me

The first story... I mean... the answer to "Our house is too small for so many people." is obviously ... "You have a backyard. Buy a tent." If OP can live in a tent as a teenager in freezing weather, so can they. I mean, the sister is the important one... right?

In the first story the OP should tell all relatives what have happened now. Chances are the parents still aren't so people think everything is fine. In the second story most commenters are only guessing the daughter's age. But one commenter needs to know that by choosing to keep it a secret she chose the mom's side.

These enabler responses to story 2 are hilarious. You know what I'd do if I discovered an affair? Tell the other person immediately. Being 16 years old doesn't mean you don't understand basic decency. She knew, she did nothing. She isn't a helpless victim of her mother's affair, she is complicit. Not only was he cheated on, the one person who should've had his back stuck a knife into it instead. "Oh, but she was afraid of breaking her family!" At 16 you have enough self-control to put your feelings aside and do the right thing. Not being an adult isn't a free pass to betray your family in one of the most painful ways possible.

the math isn´t adding up in the 1st story, so he was kicked out at 16 because his sister was pregnant and they say he got a house at 35 years old so her oldest son should be 19 not 14 edit: maybe 18 beacause of the pregnancy time
@mikewilson6513

yup, noticed that mistake as well... at most if he was 16 when his sister was pregnant then he would have been 30 (maybe 31 depending on birthdates) at the time with a 14 y/o nephew

Story 2: The comments saying how the daughter could choose a side, but she did, in fact, choose a side. Not telling the father about the affair is her choosing. It all blew up in her face, while everyone saying it's not her fault is wrong. It's partly her fault.
