He does have more of an A level student vibe in this one (don't know what that'd be in Ireland?). Still, he's always been a good kid - I love their relationship.
So true, but one thing that was wrong from my experience is that Anne should have been trying to push down on the touch screen with the force of 30 elephants, even after being told to do it gently.
I think it’s because old touchscreens were SUPER insensitive. I’m only 27 but I’ve experienced a few touchscreens on machines that require actual force. It’s just muscle memory for some people, I assume. Also, for older folk smartphones DO have trouble responding to their fingers. Something about less blood circulation making it more difficult to register.
She's so good at it that sometimes I genuinely believe she's an Irish man in his 30s. Then we get one of these sketches and I remember "No, she's definitely always been an Irish mom."
I had a job, in the late 90s, training middle-aged solicitors to use their new work computer system. Every. Single. Moment. of my days were like this, with added threat of getting the sack for rolling my eyes too much.
lucky you that you are young enough to have evolved with tech. Studies have shown that eyes and brains are evolving for tech. The old horrors that raised you are not as equipped for tech. DONT WORRY WE WILL ALL DIE OFF SOON ENOUGH. AND WILL NOT TRAUMATIZE YOU WITH OUR OLD FASHIONED WAYS.
This is so spot on. I bought my mum a smartphone on her last birthday and ever since, every time I visit her I have tons of requests and explanations in regard to how to use it. At first I behaved kind of annoyed, but then my mum reminded me that she was patient enough back in the days to teach me how to wipe my own ass and eat with a fork...
Disabling automatic removal of permissions is also important. Otherwise everything stops working since the scared user declines all requests for "accessing your data" "accessing your camera" etc.
😆🤣 I lost it at "75 years!" Truly, these are the most relatable skits on the planet, no matter where you're from. That opener reminded me so much of my folks, and we're from the side of the world, Jamaica! 🇯🇲 Long live F.A.H. (And Anne Flanagan 😊💯)!
@@foilarmsandhog Yes, a-true!! 😄😊 My Mum's a born-and-bred Kingstonian, "Born under the clock" as they say...and my Dad is, too! But anyway, thanks for the reply -- It's so cool. 😃💯 Bless up.
I feel you Oisin. As a son I’ve been through this many times, as well: smartphones, tablets, laptops, PCs, emails, internet and everything in between. The only remedy to that is patience.
I remember years ago, when I tried to introduce my parents to "modern" emails. Dad got it on the first try. Mum made my computer crash by pressing one. Single. Button. ever since, I let my sibling handle teaching them current tech.
I relate to this harder than I've ever related to anything in my life. How on earth did these guys in Ireland know exactly what it's like to be me and my mom?? 😂😭
This sketch is way too relatable but also hilarious at the same time 😂😂 Heading in for my final college exam today so it was great to have a bit of a laugh this morning. Thanks lads! 😁😁
I laughed so hard because that was exactly what I was like when I bought my new phone yesterday. I had 2 sales reps and the manager trying to get me a simple phone. I am a senior so they had pity on me.
I'm getting flashbacks to helping my Gran with her phone- on her landline, trying to help and describe the steps to setting up a phone I couldn't even see 🙈 so this video was all 100% accurate for me!
@@SamFAHntha unfortunately not- she did an Anne Flanagan and left her phone at home when I supposed to meet up with her and was phoning her non stop trying to find our where she was 🙈
Ah, i also helped set up my grandma’s phone. I luckily don’t live far away (15 min). I also installed teamviewer and made a paper on how to connect it. If something is wrong with her phone a simple call via her landline to me and connecting remotely is super easy to fix issues without having to actually go there. Especially with covid when visits weren’t really possible. Stuff like turning up the volume of notifications… 3 minutes of work instead of half an hour of travel time to and back and the obligatory tea-and-chat time. Its always nice there of course, but i got stuff to do too you know.
When I was early in IT before I said that yes I can do it but then you have to pay me, mhm they almost never asked again. Wonder why? Or try working in IT support and you can't use remote connection tool or even helping your ma and da with that kind of stuff over the phone without seeing what and where its clicked
@@dyrepoliti well, my grandparents have done a lot for me when i was younger. I could stay there when my other grandpa fell ill and died. He lived an hour away and my parents needed to be there. If my parents needed to be somewhere, they would always be there to make sure that i wasnt alone. Even now if i have any kind of problem all i have to do is go there and they'll help me to their fullest extend. Even at their age. I'll happily do whatever i can for them too. Helping with technical problems, getting some stuff from the supermarket if im in the area. Just going there for some tea once in a while, just before covid was a thing, my grandma had meningitis, a very severe case. She still cant stand noisy situations. Even driving along in the car is very strenuous for her. If i can help with some little things so she doesnt have to do those things herself, i do. Im not a saint or anything close to that, and yes, i have grumbled a little bit when she didnt always get what i was trying to say, yet i just took it and didnt show it. I do think that i can say if that more people do what i do, the world would be a little bit better.
Hog as Anne is just a true masterpiece, loved every single second of this sketch, and the ending was just fabulous with everyone staying in character to promote the tour. Thank you so much for all your incredible hard work and amazing humour as always :).
I was thinking the other day, hoping that you will continue the weekly sketches for the rest of your careers, and then laughed at the idea Foil playing teenage Oisin when in his 60s 🤣
Brilliant sketch as always, Anne and Oisin never fail, and Oisins little half smile when Anne promises (threatens) to leave him the phone in her will is priceless!! 😂😂 Lovely to see Barry working his way into the sketch too x
Brilliant! Foil plays our favourite stroppy teenager so well, I love how he stays in character even out of costume. That glance when he's wondering about his mum's maiden name, and the delivery of the line about getting the photos printed 👌 I have my Edinburgh tickets so will hopefully see you there, and Vicar Street again soon. Loved, loved this sketch 👏👏
I swear I've developed a Pavlovian reaction to hearing Eine Kleine Nachtmusik 😂 Another Mrs. F & Oisín sketch, what a treat! He has the patience of a saint 😬 Happy Thursday!
Am I the only one who thinks that the “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” matches perfectly with the video? I feel like laughing even before watching the video..! 😆😆
I just want you to know that you’ve resurfaced SO MANY repressed memories of me trying to help my parents and my grandparents on BOTH sides with technology. You learn how to connect a few cables because you play video games and suddenly you’re the family IT person…
Exactly. They think that you play a few video games that your parents can now obligate you to go over to everyone's house to virus scan, fix/setup their modem or internet or new computer, whatever, because you are somehow magically bestowed this master programmer/hacker/tech guru ability. It's not fair.
For real! I don’t have a problem setting stuff up because I had consoles growing up. I still don’t get the difficulty, plug that shape into this shape! Only issue I’ve ever had was accidentally mixing up the out/in ports
I've had experience with a relative not switching off the default noises. When looking round universities she wanted to take pictures of the power points, made a clicking noise for every picture. And then she fully switched it off every single time, so every 30 seconds she was switching it back on to take another photo; her phone did the built in boot up jingle every single time.
The Anne and Oisin skits are the reason I subscribed! The teaching parents computers was hilarious. I am in my 50's and relate both to Anne and Oisin. I have such a time with my 70 something mom explaining computers, but I know I'm more like Anne when I need help from my son. Ack! This new phone one is just as good. Please continue with Anne and Oisin. They are so great. If we can accept Hog as a 50something mom, we can accept a much older Foil as a teen, no matter how old Foil gets. Please don't stop. Hog and Foil - you nail these characters. Fantastic job.
😂👏🤣👏 I have to admit to being much like Anne, when it comes to remembering all the passwords for everything when setting up a new phone 😝 and I've just ordered a new one. Will we get to see Anne's new phone pics on Patreon? Beautiful portrait drawing Anne in the background there 😍
This is gold! The passwords oh dear even I struggle, so relatable. Arms at the end you couldn’t hold the laugh, you lads are so authentic! Loved it as always 😅
My mother-in-law was a schoolteacher, so she keeps all her passwords written in an old exercise booklet from her school-days. When you ask her for one, she scrolls through the pages trying to figure out which password it may be. Hilarious! But at least they’re all in one place. (She’s 84, and just got a new iPhone a few weeks ago. And she always asks me the questions, since my husband rolls his eyes AND uses a “tone” she doesn’t like!) 😂😂😂
Why do I keep being surprised by how accurate these are?! I should've learned by now how good the sketches are every single week.. Loved it! And thank god for the tiny snippet of Barry in the outro:)
I support that nice lady. You cant do anything when your screen turns off in just 10 sec. The first thing I do on any of my new phones is setting that timer to 60 sec.
Ah my mam will be delighted when I force her to watch the new sketch now because her hero is in it (that hero being Anne!) I think she loves her so much because they're so alike! I'm trying to convince her to go to a show of yours with me and she keeps going "well if Anne isn't going to be there, I don't want to go." 🤣🤣🤣
I would love to be able to show my mum these videos, because she is very much like Anne. But sadly, her English is way to bad to understand them, so it wouldn't make much sense :/
Oh God, I was laughing so much! This is literally like my brother trying to explain to my father how to use the laptop. My brother gave it to him as a Christmas gift with everything fully installed. I think he still completely underestimated how trying it would be to teach him how to use it. As Anne always says: you need the patience of a saint. Let's just say, there were no saints around that day... The pain paid off, though: he's a pro now.
I'm over 50 and still am tech support for my parents. Every time I see them my dad has a list of things he wants me to make his phone either to start doing or to stop. Loved this!
That is scarily relatable. Only things not covered is having the volume all the way up because "I can't hear it otherwise" and the brightness maxed out because "How else am I supposed to see?" Brilliant as always, can't wait for another!
And then whilst Anne is trying to watch something an advert comes in really loud (coz they always are) about something embarrassing (😆) and Anne is screaming at Oisin to get rid of it, but it is an advert and you can't lol, he is trying to explain that you have to let it play for 30 seconds. So she keeps trying to press play and gets a new advert everytime 🤣😭 he he
This is how it goes in my house too! Why oh why do we need so many passwords ( don't even get me started on the frequent changes ). Also the annoying cookie popups that just stay on the screen, I just navigate away from those pages. The other annoying thing is my son walks round the house as if there isn't a camera and microphone on his phone! There isn't an ounce of privacy with those things. I would happily sew him a draw string bag to put it in but I doubt he would use it.
I'm just a few seconds in and crying. My mum just got a new tablet and it's like you guys were here in the room when she finally got it out of the box! The screen timeout 😂😂 And she never takes it ANYWHERE!!
I love you! I'm 69, don't have a smart phone or want one! My grown children have to put up with me! Usually I really laugh at your sketches, this time I found it too close to home and I want to cry!!...........still love you X.
Oisin has a long way to go before finally creating « his own » email address to attach all of his mom’s accounts and his own phone number for all the verifications so next time his mom asks him why Skype is asking her her password he can just give it to her… but Oisin is still young and has buckets and buckets of patience ☺️
So accurate! Almost word for word what I went through with my parents. They still dont really use their iphones, even after literally hours of trying to show them how to.
Just came off a night shift and am very tired, but I saw Ann Flanagan and had to watch. I really enjoyed this one and I have sent it to my parents 🤭. Thanks for another brilliant sketch! 😊
It’s incredibly funny and relatable, but once you help them get going they can sometimes be even ahead of you. Hog is absolutely amazing as this character!
Ah finally Anne! Hog nails this character every single time! I cannot remove my eyes from Hog...I mean Anne :) And, who did those potraits at the back? Anne's one is very good 👍 Have a good day as you have made mine a good one! 😁
I am watching you from Niger in the Sahel region and when work and daily sttuggles are just too hard you remind me the joy in life and make me smile! Thank you so much!
I haven't commented on Foil this week...what is wrong with me?! Is it the 'first full working week since March' that did this to me. I loved how Foil cracked up as last in the outro. Now that's professionalism. THERE. All is good in the world. And while I have annoyed you again Arms, can you ask him for more subs? Thanks.😆
Thank goodness, I was worried someone had hacked your account there for a second! Arms tried his absolute hardest!! He did! But I mean Anne was yelling about wanting money, so how could he not break??? 😂
I taught my sons to speak English, read (before they went to school), ride a bike, and drive standard shift. We're not even talking about writing their college entrance essays. So maybe they can spare a moment from time to time to explain something about my phone. :)
Ok, I have to admit I was smiling all the way through and then Barry appeared, and yeah I was laughing out loud. Because Anne Flanagan trying to get Barry to enunciate is the best thing ever. She's basically half-adopted the lad at this point, hasn't she?
@@EmmaLiza(to read in Anne's voice) come on, now. He's already a fine young man. He just needs to learn to enunciate a bit better. But he is a good lad, really. 😋
Yes!! Love it!! Now..interesting reading material there, The Giver, wasnt that on the livestream Book Club? Wait.. Is Anne on Patreon? or is that breaking the 4th wall? 😂😂..this was so funny..because my mum when she first got a Motorola, never remembered it and never turned it on hahaha. We love Anne, Oisin and Barry!..Thanks lads, great one 😄😄😊😊🎉🎉
I've been on FAH-abstaining for few months (Patreon live stream and extras included), because I ran out of their videos to watch. With this video, I'm so glad today's the day I decide to break it off.
