OP messed up NOT getting ownership, even just partial ownership, in the 'family business' when he sunk all his savings into the company. That was his biggest mistake overall.
Anyone with his kind of family history would have to be lower than average IQ to even still be interested in his birth family after he left for college. That he even responded to his father after that seems unlikely, but taking over his business AND sinking money into it without a cast iron legally binding ownership agreement? Nah - I just don't believe it for a second. No one is THAT much of a doormat, and that stupid while still managing to excel in college and a well paying job.
@@faizansyed9111 It wouldn't have been a mistake have you gotten equity and gotten something out of it taking advantage of the situation ...but yeah it was a mistake to do it if he didn't get anything out of here
If you're not a quick thinker you must have some comeback "ready-to-use" in your head all the time. When his parents called him to ask for money for the electricity bills, he should have said "Sorry all my money went into the company and since you did not refund me, if have nothing left".
quick answers are good but a blunt harsh answer would be better. something like.......why would you be stupid enough to think i would ever help you or care what happens to you? i cared once before and you pushed me out and stole my money and that was when you became dead to me. now is there anything else i can refuse to help you with? no? have a nice life
Two events helped me cull an astonishing amount of deadweight from my social circle. I almost died in the hospital and stopped talking to anyone who didn't know or care. Then, when my father died, I got rid of a bunch more. The relief of the burden was cathartic
“You’re just ungrateful” HE SAID TO THE SON WHO LITERALLY SAVED HIS SORRY ASS, PUMPED LIFE INTO HIS “FAMILY BUSINESS” THAT WAS DEAD IN THE WATER, AND WHEN HIS FAVORITE SON COULDNT BE BOTHERED TO EVEN DROP A DIME FOR HIM AND F$&@ED OFF TO WHO KNOWS WHERE
Another version of the dimbulb story. He GAVE them the money without obtaining majority ownership. He became just another employee. I suspect that he DID NOT have them sign loan papers. Good bye repayment or claiming a tax loss.
OP's psychotic denial of reality regarding his family is the saddest part of this story, honestly. They are never going to change or approve of you at all.
Op just wanted FAIR treatment from parents, never got! His crime thinking parents would someday care about him! He had HIGH HOPES!! My opinion-parents had 1st perfect baby!!! Op was an OOPS baby! They never ever planned to have a 2nd kid!!!!!!
Parents can't use the money they spent on you for leverage lmfao, especially when it's BARE MINIMUM which are SUPPOSED to for a child THEY brought into the world, it's their DUTY
OP is a very much vulnerable guy...he know what his family put him through but still sides them when they in need even when they didn't apologized nor showed any remorse on their past actions towards him, still couldn't stand his dad's so called puppy eyes full of hope( like a kid) and helped them when they never ever gave a F about him since childhood but only reached him out when they were miserable ...He should have just rejected it like his brother saying its their karma for what his parents and spoiled brat bro done to him... Foolish of him to help them as if they were some innocents and still hopped on the idea that they still his family when they literally celebrated him moving out of the house 🙄😤🤦🏻♀️.....
After they called asking for help after the 'golden child' screwed everything up, I would have given them an ultimatum: "Sign the family business over to me wholesale with a contract MY lawyer will write up and then I'll help you... or never contact me again." I'd have a major law firm write up an iron-clad contract that would make me 100% the owner of the family business and if they did sign it over, I would liquidate all assets and sell everything off. I'd burn everything down while making a profit doing so and only give them just enough so that they wouldn't starve or be homeless. My brother wouldn't see a penny.
This story is just too much. As a kid growing up I thought Cinderella was unrealistic. This story makes Cinderella more believable. I mean with the magic and all. In all likelihood we are just being farmed for views. Real or not, he got a view and that's probably all that matters. In the end, lying for views isn't that outrageous. People do stupid pranks and get shot for views.
he’s trying, even though he knows, even after the parents made it so clear, even after Zane treated him so horribly, to make them actually appreciate him
I hate it when in these stories parents try to pull "We raised you better than this" like no. They are behaving exactly how you raised them. You taught them that family doesn't matter, and family is under no obligation to help each other, emotionally or financially. Also the fact that the brother got Soulja boy rug em'd is hilarious
Man, the moment OP and his brother was called by his father to help and he accepted was the first bad step he took. It was pretty obvious that this was a red flag.
I will never understand WHY when a person is subjected to treatment like this, rather than staying as far away from the problem as possible. They immediately go right back to within easy reach of the place/people who made your life h*ell. Then are all surprised pikachu when harassment starts again.
Don't be afraid to live your own life away from your toxic family to be happy 😊. I wish you happyess, joy and don't forget you have people here to help you with your toxic family and your own life challenges
if he has the means he should take legal action. im a vindictive person so maybe my view on this is not the correct one, but if you get neglected to that extent and they syphon that much energy and money from you they deserve to live out the consequences. (my parents abused me emotionally so maybe im a bit very much biased on topics like these)
28:57 "My uncle on my parent's side" That's a very odd thing to say. It's also strange that his brother starts out as Zane and turned into Zayn after he got married,
I would have offered 1 way out. Buy the company from them they loose all their say in it, dad is allowed to keep working there, brother goes out the window, and they cant just set him back on the street if they feel like it.
Considering OP's history with his parents, him taking over the family business with zero legal protections was monumentally stupid. He knew these people gave less than half a shit for him and yet he sunk in his entire savings. I would have predicted that Zane would have waltzed in and yanked away OP's delusions that his parents "loved him." I also could see Zane tanking the business a hundred miles away. Zane is a typical golden child, he's a loser. The only reason anything is "won" by him is cause him and his parents live in a codependent relationship of deep delusion. The real world has shown him to be a loser over and over and over again. So, I would have demanded my savings back, plus inflation, plus a 5% "usury fee." Then a clause of no contact that will be enforced with a $1,000 sum for every attempt from either side. Milk these fools for every penny. Get therapy. Get healed. Get your own family and never think about them ever again.
it never ceases to amaze me how foolish op's like this are. I just got to the part where he was asked to take over the family business and when he started considering it was like NOPE! See this way too many times.
Not to be cruel, but... OP's a born sucker. The fact he didn't see his parents' betrayal coming, and didn't prepared contingencies when it did, makes it very clear. And, believe me, I ain't mad at him - a child should expect his folks to love him. But, when they show time and again that THEY DON'T... you have to move on, period. Or keep on being a sucker.
Crypto & day trading are risky bets and Ops brother Zane had suggested the parents dip into there savings and make these risky bets. Spoiler alert, Zane had nearly bankrupted and Op ended up working for a competitor and did pretty well.
16:30 how tf is the dad a business man what OP did was put his money into the company that's what we call.investing OP has every right to his Investment money
If you have a golden child doesn't mean you treat the others like trash. As a parent , you should watch out for all your children equally and do ur best to make they have everything they need love nad support.
If you have to tell your kids to zip it in public about how they are treated then you're a trashy parent. Its that simple and i dont know why parents struggle to understand that
bad reputation will fuck your career up, especially with people like his parents, who will ruin him in the long run if he didn't do anything about them.
If I would've helped, they would've had to sign the business over to me, lock, stock and two smoking barrels. If they wouldn't do that, then they could piss off.
He has no documentation. If you invest in family business or loan money to family members, make a document, have them sign it. Always. Don't trust family when it comes to this, because people get ugly when money and inheritance are involved.
What's really annoying is OP doesn't even realize what an idiot he was getting involved. No healthy regret or self depreciation but he thinks he was in the right to help his family business. No. If you're stupid, expect to be taken for a ride!!! ugh
I was also about to Stop but i waited and am satisfied that he got a good ending but my god i was f***ing mad at op for accepting dad's request. My inner voice was shouting that someone knocked some sense on this dumbass
Nope. NTA. Not as dramatic, but my mother has neglected me my entire life. She didn’t wish me a happy birthday last year for over a week. I’m 31 now. This past October I moved away from my hometown, and when I came in for my birthday in February I did not see my mother and she lost her FUCKING MIND. And I’m like sis, you literally didn’t even remember my birthday last year… why would I go out of my way to see you when I have 3 days to see everyone I’ve ever known?? Abusive parents cannot stand when they get that adult review of the childhood they put you through.
@@phillipschwoerke8374 And OP always puts themselves through college, always becomes very successful. Golden child always runs the business into the ground. They always come begging to OP to bail them out because "we're family". I can't say how many times I've heard this story.
@@rolandhansen812 Im convinced it's the same couple of stories redressed by reading Tubers. That or many Redditors have modest/average success and are embellishing their achievements for greater personnal satisfaction.
@@rolandhansen812 To be fair, although I haven't seen exactly that situation, I've seen similar situations in my big family in the past. I've seen enough of it that I believe those stories.
@@utkarshanegi481 LOL - All my uncles are on my sister's side. I think I might have one that is related to my brother. And I have at least one aunt on my uncle's side.
--- Parents should sell heir house, pay their debts and move into a cheaper place. Also they should sell the business, even if it's pennies for the dollars. Parents should get jobs (MacD's hires senors), to pay utilities and take advantage of food banks.
I started yelling at my phone at the 11-minute mark when he threw his life savings in. They have done nothing but scar this young man. I would have disowned then long ago, the audacity of this father asking for help from a son he has abused. This kid has basically been told to eat shit his whole life.
@@rolandhansen812😂😂 for me, i wouldnt even have to make 'em up its so disturbing and messed up, but somehow it'd be painful to put it all out there. So it shall stay out of reddit
@@DrummerrDuckie Not worth my time. Worth Reddit's time. There is so much wild made-up stuff on Reddit that actual happenings wouldn't be interesting to Redditors.
@@rolandhansen812 I dunno man. There’s a reason that “truth is stranger than fiction” is a saying. There’s a lot of seriously messed up stuff and crazy coincidences that seem too impossible to be true if not for the evidence it really happened.
I know! My parents have NEVER held over my head how much they’ve done for me. I’m the one who is throwing in and helping them in their older age with my father’s health issues and they insist I’m doing too much. I just tell them that they are letting me live in the home so anything I give them would be going to rent or a mortgage anyway. That said I still have money that I’m putting away for the future. The thing is, I had a lot of health issues as a kid and they selflessly invested in therapy, medical treatment, what have you so I know my success now is them; it’s an honor to be there for them now.
Parents cripple their golden child by favoring them while the forgotten scapegoat sometimes has drive to succeed (not always sometimes all children are destroyed by bad parenting) then the parents are surprised when neglected child rejects them.
I think the most f**ked-up part of this story is the fact the parents were 100% aware they were in the wrong and why, they fully acknowledged it by making him keep his mouth shut and played perfect parents when family was around and how they played/acted differently in front of them and yet they still did so. They were wrong and they knew it. It's really messed up and sad. Reminds me of my inlaws.
I would sue the parents for mistrinting him, defamation and the money from the investments on the family business. Also try to get the lawyer costs as well
He said he's working with his father's competitors. It woukd be righteous justice if he could purchase the business through them and jave it incorporated into the business he's worki g for. Better yet have him run that that business under the name of his employer. It woukd still be the family business under him and it would be in much better hands.
Pretty sure this is exact same story I heard before, but instead of a manufacturing business it was an autobody/detail shop. And Zane was another name. Literally word-for-word
So the parents set the bridge on fire and somehow managed to cross it once....only to set it fire again and now that they need OP theyre expecting to cross the burnt bridge again? Nah fam there is no bridge anymore
How you can tell this was written by chat gpt? This dude literally used words like “indifference, glaring, adamant”, and then also writing the sentence “I’m the one who made the business grow big” 😂😂😂
I find it funny when parents say “you owe us for the time we took care of you when you were younger” ye cause thats what parents are meant to do thats your job I dont owe you anything!!
OP’s biggest mistake was trusting family without securing his own interests. You can’t just throw your life savings into a business without any ownership or legal agreement. Lesson learned the hard way!
