The doctor is not cold. He is a human being and obviously feels for the parents of the victims but it would be extremely unprofessional to go up there and start showing his emotions.

The doctor is amazing. I can see in his eyes he bears emotions and empathy for the parents, but you can't hear it and you can't see it from his body language. I’ve read a few comments about Dr. Osbournes’ demeanor, and feeling that he seems a little “cold” when describing the injuries. Medical providers, whose job it is to deal with trauma/death day-in and day-out, definitely develop the ability to disassociate from their emotions. They couldn’t do their jobs if they didn’t. People having anxiety, shock, and stress reactions have difficulty thinking clearly. In these particular professions, we desperately need those among us who can put these emotions aside temporarily to do these very necessary jobs. These people, like anyone else exposed to violence in a society, do take all of this with them however. All of the witnessed trauma and violence to human beings, big and small, creates a type of PTSD that each deals with in their own way. The brutality of our world is an astonishing thing, and these dedicated professionals act as it’s witness.

@@Hippie_chic_at_heart I wouldn't make that assumption. Just because you occupy a certain role does not mean you are unaffected by the natural human emotions that come with it. For certain people/in certain fields detachment might make things easier, but for others, caring and being passionate about what you do is what keeps you going. Detachment may not even be possible. First responders, coroners, medical care providers, this judge and people involved in the trial will all experience trauma at work and don't choose these careers because they're somehow above it. For example, my sister is a nurse and is affected by what she sees every day. She just makes a very intentional effort to seek supports for herself to deal with it and continue. She became a nurse because she cares and is passionate about providing care, not because being surrounded by people dying and in pain every day doesn't bother her. The people who occupy these roles can be professional and committed without being "fine" with everything. Everyone needs compassion and support, even (and especially!)if they've chosen to do what they know is going to be difficult, traumatic work.

Not a single parent in that court room, didn’t have bags under their eyes, from all the tears & sleepless nights, since the day their child was taken from them. You can feel their despair, anger, sadness, & inconsolable pain & loss. No parent should ever have to bury their child. They are unbelievably strong for remaining in that room, where the murderer of their child, while they hear, how their child suffered & died. I know that not a single person that watched those poor parents cry, didn’t shed tears along with them, felt their pain, or sympathized with them. I’m a single mother of 3, one is no longer with me, in person. But he is always with me I’m spirit. I can sympathize with these parents, & know the never ending pain. ⚠️Edit: some people commented that these grieving parents have bags under their eyes, because they are old. Obviously those who commented this, are young, or fortunate enough to not have felt the horrible pain of loosing someone. Another said, they feel no empathy for someone “they don’t know, or knew existed”, & basically called me exhaustingly, & needlessly “emotional”. If feeling sympathy for a fellow human being that is in pain. Specially over the loss of their murdered child, while they hear how their bodies were damaged, & how they died. Over my years as a nurse I can agree with your explanation, unfortunately my experiences over the years eventually caused a burnout and I left nursing. I think there comes a point in time when it’s no longer possible to separate the emotions. That’s the time to walk away and take some time for self care. I had to leave the career I loved for my own health and the health and safety of the patients I cared for. I admire and respect the health care professionals who care for patients in traumatic circumstances every day and a deeper respect for those who have to recall those traumas accurately in testimony. It’s got to be the most difficult thing to recall especially with family and friends listening to that testimony. The last thing a medical professional wants to do is disclose traumatic information that will cause distress to family. The M.E has a difficult task to disclose important information tactfully, yet truthfully and completely. I imagine it’s somewhat traumatic for them also. This M.E is a consummate professional. Not cold and detached, just a dignified professional doing credit to his job and no doubt dreading sharing the details in court. This trial is heartbreaking for me I cannot comprehend what the families are going through.

My brother is a Forensic Medical Examiner for 13 years. I have a tight bond with him and I can say that he changed just a year fr working in the morgues and hospitals. He rarely talks about the deaths his worked on due to confidentiality probably but when he does, he talks vaguely and seemed to not be bothered by the scene he was just at. However, during his first few months, he would come home mortified, spaced out, or I'd often see him drink water more often than when he's just at home, not working. All I'm saying is that Dr. Osbournes' demeanor is completely normal for me. Watching my brother over the years, I feel like he got used to sucking up whatever he's feeling, no matter how mortifying the scenes he's seen -- he got used to it that he now talks like it just doesn't bother him at all --- otherwise, he'd long quit his job.

Sadly they will never get peace, the best they can get is to understand why he did it but there is no logical reason and I doubt he will ever explain why he did it.

There is justice like that in other countries where they simply give the convicted over to the family and let them deal with him/her and I absolutely believe this should be allowed in the USA

This might not be appropriate but there’s a foreign movie called Lady Vengeance where she does have the parents of the victims alone with their children’s killer to do as they please with him. Crazy movie but the ending is moving.

As a mother of 4 daughters & 1 son 5 grandchildren I cannot express my deepest sympathy for all the families my heart breaks for you. I am so so sorry. God bless all the victims of this horrible tragedy.

Can you imagine how these parents feel 1st to have lost their children 2nd the way they lost them 3rd then to have to hear their children become evidence an exhibit number 202B no parent should have to go through any part of this. I don't think there is a word to truly describe/capture how they must feel. Then to be the parent of someone who commits this type of violence can't be easy either. My heart goes out to everyone that has been affected by his actions.
