I'm sorry I feel bad for saying this but if you know you have a heart condition you should not be drinking charged anything. I just find it weird how Panera didn't disclose how much caffeine is in the drink.

I remember when they insisted that child proof caps be placed on everything since parents were apparently too busy to put things out of the reach of children. They forgot about the old people with arthritis who now can not open their medications. Soon we will have to get a doctor's note to buy any edibles. Sorry, see all the old people. We lived through metal slides which were as hot as the sun and took off a layer or two of skin on the way down, We "walked" the backseat now kids are locked in as if they were going to the moon. Result? Kids are in the back facing back and parents forget they are there, the point on the swing sets was to get the legs behind you to lift out of the ground. bicycle helmets? Are you kidding. I remember my friend who was ahead of me hitting a light post, the bike road right over and landed behind her, A guy witnessed it, came over, we dusted her off and away we went. No ambulance, no ER (she is now a great grandmother). Kids on skate boards look like the michalene man. I think you get the point.

As much as people try to blame this girl it’s happened to others and there’s no reason for the Panera Lemonade to have the amount of caffeine it does and not be behind a counter, having free refills on the lemonade is also very tempting especially as a college student.

It’s unfortunate but it was her responsibility. I’m a survivor of childhood heart disease and have ongoing complications including arrhythmia. I do drink caffeine moderately. And I avoid energy drinks. Still, I happen to love coffee. Even so, there is NO WAY I would order anything, not even lemonade, labeled CHARGED at a coffee shop. Bless her heart but she should have known better.

For some reason she must not have made the connection to the part of the name - "Charged" - to mean that it was caffeinated. Death by misadventure can happen to anyone at any age.

I’ve seen these before and it literally says it’s highly caffeinated on the spigot. The roommate said she had been drinking them lately? So it’s not like it was her first one? Is that correct?

"Charged" is marketing term that is popular within the Electric motorized vehicle circles. Get a full charge . Caffeine amount should simply be listed on container for the users to judge what they can consume

What did she think the “Charge” in Charge Lemonade? College students aren’t always smart when it comes to taking risks and I would bet that she knew exactly what was in it and might have even had it before, thinking “…it could never happen to me.” Her roommate knew what was in it, how did Sarah not.

Is the autopsy listing this energy drink as the cause of death? What the parents feel as the cause may be different than the real cause. What was the amount caffeine in her blood during autopsy? How do we KNOW she drank the energy lemonade beside the goofy roommate's statement? The newscasts states she's been 'recently purchasing' them so after the first one she'd realize the buzz she would have gotten from the drink so why did she choose to continue with them? I'm not buying this.

I'm caffeine sensitive and the word 'charged' on the name of the drink alone should be a warning for me to check out what it meant before I drink it. Sorry for your loss though.

I drank the mango yuzu charged lemonade all the time, until they stopped having it. One day when I drank one, I was having really bad chest pains. My family and I thought I was having a heart attack. I was scared so badly.

Absolutely 100% hope they don’t win a penny. People need to start reading and investigating what they’re putting in their mouth! So this young lady didn’t know what the word charged meant? For God sake, give it a rest. This girl was guzzling them just like people, guzzle, red Bull, and all that other crap she knew. I think these parents need to go grieve and stop it! Sometimes we have to own our own stupid choices

Some of you are commenting that the girls should have known better than to have the drink. And because of that the family shouldn’t be awarded anything in a lawsuit. But after learning about how much caffeine is in the drink, I question whether anyone should be having it for health reasons. There are a number of medical conditions that could be exacerbated by this amount of caffeine. A friend could purchase this and bring it to you and say “hey I got you a lemonade.” And then you drink it and you get sick or die because your friend didn’t read the label. For the sake of other people who might get sick or die from this drink, I hope they remove it from the selection.

I always ask before I drink anything these days and tell them upfront I am caffeine intolerant multiple times until they get upset at me to make for sure for sure because fast food workers just don’t have the capacity to care about details. I am so sorry to this family. I also think that the energy drink craze in this nation needs to STOP! Energy drinks should be all natural and should come with a warning label if they don’t.

I love Panera bread but I stand by these parents. I don’t think kids or adults know the amount of caffeine that they are getting, especially like the parents have stated there’s nothing saying how much caffeine are in these drinks. I am a 61 year-old woman and I have heart issues. I have a heart murmur and a mitral valve prolapse and I never purchase anything unless I know how much caffeine would be in a drink. I can honestly say if I were younger and wanted that caffeine I wouldn’t think twice and I would purchase it And I was diagnosed with these two problems when I was 14.
