Only time will tell. As long as they are not climate change freaks like Blackrock, then the brands will be fine. Blackrock forces climate change policies on companies they own, which could explain why Creed is weaker and more expensive.

They were forced to change their ingredients, and embrace more synthetic ingredients overtime because of perfume regulations, but it has probably got even worse now that they are owned by Blackrock that wants the companies they own to be carbon neutral and push the climate change agenda. Absolutely wonderful video, shedding light on the reality of things. We already knew things weren't going well with customer satisfaction in mind because PDM fragrances have been reformulated. The labels used to have 78 percent alcohol volume and lately they have 82 percent. I'll pass on them!

Number one on my wishlist is Oud for Happiness from Initio. It is sweeter and more female compared to Oud for Greatness. Especially with this warm weather, the scent develops great on my skin. It is a perfect summer scent for me.

I hope they realize how much people love the brands and so won’t change them. They might get more popular if they reach more stores but I don’t think too much, due to price. I don’t see a lot of people wanting to pay for them. I have safanad but I plan to get a few more from Marly and I want atomic rose as well.

I agree with the others who suspect this acquisition to be similar to Creed where formulations will be weaker to ultimately get bigger profit. I have Greenley, Percival, Rehab and Mystic Experience from the 2 brands and i hope to buy others with the pre-acquisition formulation

PDM will always have my heart because that was my first niche house I started with when I began my collection. For me, as long as they don't water things down and charge more. Everything will pretty much stay the same. Even if they have bad releases it won't matter because I already have my favorites. So PDM please don't screw up what's already solidified!

oh well, it is s what it is. Hopefully they won't mess with the formulations and potency of the fragrances. My first PDM was also Herod, back in 2017. I still love that stuff and its currently my favorite along with Habdan, Carlisle, godolphin and Layton. I don't own any Initio bottles yet but from the decants I've gone through my top picks would be Side Effect, Oud For Greatness, Blessed Baraka, Musk Therapy and Rehab.

PDM were one of the first houses I really explored, there was a point when every youtube reviewer seemed to be featuring them? My nose has developed to acknowledge the criticism that now seems to follow the brand though I think they get more flack than warranted. That said Oajan/Habdan are still favourites and part of my Autumn staple Despite my efforts each year never fell for Carlisle.

For some reason I had a hunch this would happen with Marly. And now it is. I love Carlisle and Godolphin from Marly but I haven't really dig into Initio yet. Better get it done soon though befor things change.

I recommend Blessed Baraka by Initio. Slightly fruity, and lots of sweet amber, musk and vanilla with a tinge or booze too! Thats one you should definitely sample :)

Part of me is half expecting an upcoming Aventus smell-alike. Especially since Aventus Absolu is coming out later this year. 🤫 Every brand needs a piece of the pie. Personally, I'll stick with the pie. Still waiting on Oajan and Carlisle Exclusif!

Devastating news tbh, im really scared about reformulation, I adore both houses…I’m a girl and carlisle is my signature scent, probably need to buy a backup bottle rn just incase 😂 I have all the initios except the 3 white bottles and i guess i need to collect all of those ASAP…i really will not be purchasing anything from pdm or initio ever again if this acquisition messes things up, it’ll be very sad

I agree, PDM and Initio are just "ok" to me. Yes, they smell good, but they aren't mind-blowing or exceptional. I got a decant of Paragon after you reviewed it and it is quite beautiful. It's a bit much for me to wear to work, but I love wearing it casually. I love Layton Exclusif aswell, its so good in the crisp winter months. I still haven't tried Carlisle or Oajan, but will probably get around to them some day.

@isobel64 Compared to others from Xerjoff, Frederick Malle, Tauer, and other niche brands, these brands as a whole are just ok. They are primarily designer scents in nicer bottles.

PDM and Initio make good smelling stuff but they aren't very interesting. Just like he said in the video, they're mass appeal / designer type scent profiles.

Sebastian! Say it isn’t so! I just find out PDM fragrances are weaker (looking for 78% instead of the now 82% batches) now, they’re being acquired! I haven’t even gotten my nose on one yet! I just recently got into fragrances last thanksgiving. I slowly taking over the hall closet- 4 shelves deep 😂 I was thinking of starting with Layton- I love boozy, resinous, gourmand leaning unisex fragrances. So many amazing fragrances I’ve missed. I’m starting to believe I started too late! I just hunted down a bottle of Guerlian L’homme Ideal EDP batch code going back to 2016! I can’t wait to get my nose on it. So many complained about the newer batches. I need to stop falling in love with discontinued fragrances!

Honestly was considering decluttering my PDM. For me personally their stock was on the decline. Commenters are hoping for improvements to the fragrances but doesn’t it almost exclusively end up being the opposite? They get produced even more cheaply. Still love ofg though, but I agree it’s a overdone profile.

They bought a majority stake, which means at least 51% of the company. As for everyone's concern about reformulation, there are different reasons fragrance makers reformulate: 1. Regulations in Europe often force all fragrance manufacturers to reformulate. It's unavoidable. 2. Increasing profit margin. This is everyone's fear. However, the original PdM creators are chasing profit too, and they just found a way to do it faster and bigger. As for the alcohol percentages increasing, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Alcohol is a diffuser. Meaning, it makes fragrance project more. You can have a pure concentration of perfume oil that lasts days, but without alcohol no one will smell it. You need alcohol to make it project. Alcohol evaporates and carries the fragrance outward so that other people can smell you. I'm assuming PdM listened to people complaining about performance and increased the alcohol content to make it project more. More alcohol doesn't mean cheaper quality. It's just a tradeoff. I don't think it smells cheaper in the recent formulation.

I just want to mention Habdan - I think it's the most underrated offering from PDM. It's sexy and it lasts all day on me, I'm surprised people don't talk about it more often.
