Another great cover! The more I have delved into The 1975 the more I have gravitated towards these exquisite acoustic covers. I imagine walking in London with a girl and being drawn to this sound somewhere in a park with a crowd encircled around waiting to here the next song. Looking for that little magic moment of escape from a bitter world and an even bitter life..
Hi mate cheers for that, means a lot. If you have the capo on the 3rd 4th and 5th string like that it kind of makes it into a cheat DADGAD tuning, you can use the root and third as if you were playing in D capo 2 and the first two strings can ring out. It’s a lot quicker than changing tuning so it’s quite convenient
reece quick thank you! So yes with the capo on the tab is 12-x-0-13-0-0, 11-x-0-11-0-0, 9-x-0-9-0-0, 7-x-0-8-0-0, 5-x-0-6-0-0. You don’t have to mute the 5th/A string but sounds a lot cleaner. Lemme know if you have more questions!
Hello~ I love this song too. It's so close to my heart. Listening to it now I imagine myself in a situation being nostalgic about things that actually did happen. Maybe because the nostalgia would feel like a romanticization of the bad things I did so I imagine myself in a better situation looking back. Maybe in a crumby apartment in Paris over looking the Eiffel's tower through a dim window. And even though you haven't scored in a while you feel kinda sick and feverish. You wonder if you should go out into the streets and search for it but you just sit there, listening to the Song as you sniff the little itch away from your nose.
That’s a very beautiful description and I think you’ve got it spot on. The nostalgia and pure longing for what things once were coupled with the clear realisation that it was not a good time always makes such an interesting mix
@@JonnyRoweMusic Thank you. Your cover brought out some vulnerability in me I guess. Also Matty is always going on about the juxtaposition of things, like happy sounding instrumentals with very morbid lyrics. And I also like that idea very much. There is this self aware pretentiousness about him that I find comforting in my own struggles. Anyway, I'm just rambling. I just subbed and will look forward to your songs. Maybe I'll hear you on the radio someday?
@@nnnnnn496 Again hitting the nail on the head that's exactly what I enjoy about his songs. The sarcastic tone about himself seems to match some of the ways I think about my own struggles. Thank you for subbing I appreciate that, hopefully I'll be on the radio some day hahah
I'll do my best, they're quite hard to describe! It's essentially a repeating pattern of 4: Thumb - Fingers - Palm/Hit/WeirdThing - Fingers the thumb plays on the lowest string to provide the bass. The first fingers focus more on the D and G strings, while the second time around they might hit more strings (in this tuning any string sounds nice. The 3rd beat is quite hard to explain it's kind of a palm muted strum with all fingers. I'm not really sure how to explain it, you could maybe look at how to "chuck" on a ukulele it's kind of a similar thing. The important thing is to keep it as a downward motion as then you have a nice DownUpDownUp rhythm going. Hope this helps, sorry it's quite a hard one to explain as it's one of my instinctive ones i've built up over the years. Main thing is trylots of things practice lots!
Thank you! Glad you like it On the tuning: It’s actually standard tuning but with a capo on the second fret of the A, D & G string. Gives it an open tuning feel with standard shapes. The Kyser capo is perfect because you can just put it on backwards and the back rubber is perfect, or there are specialist capos (Copied from another comment)
Sure! You need a capo on 0-2-2-2-0-0 like I’ve got, you can do it with the kyser capos or you could tune down to DADGAD and just change the tab slightly. For the capo version it’s reece quick thank you! So yes with the capo on the tab is 12-x-0-13-0-0, 11-x-0-11-0-0, 9-x-0-9-0-0, 7-x-0-8-0-0, 5-x-0-6-0-0. They basically cycle round, they change slightly in chorus and there’s a 4-x-0-4-0-0 occasionally before the A chord
