Parisian Mayor Swims the Seine 

Update: French president Macron and Paris Mayor Hidalgo each promised that the seine would be clean enough to swim in time for the Olympic games and that each of them would do it. On July 16, 2024, Mayor Hidalgo did dive in head first.
She must have thought it was safe. She was surrounded by security but they did not go in with her.
Cleaning up the Seine has been an enormous undertaking. It has been closed to swimming since the LAST Parisian Olympics, in 1924, a century ago. Find out about the challenges and how they approached it today with me, the Armchair Traveler. Watch until the end to see Madame take the dive!
