I’ve got similar findings on this razor. The comb half has a huge chunk missing from it, almost like a short shot molding, it doesn’t affect the shave function, but shows poor QC. The central post also crushes the blade as I tighten it. It makes an ear-grating crunching noise, and when I remove the blade (Parker blade) it’s clear the central post/screw is too large. It also, seems the gap is uneven, as noted in the video. On the flip side first shave was quite smooth. My razor does give quite a bit of audible feedback, and almost feels like the blade will “buckle” at times (not sure how to explain it), but the shave was good. Need some more shaves, but from the above observations the QC is HORRIBLE. Not sure what to make of the Parker semi slant since I read so many good reviews about it.
I have had mine for six months and i ve enjoyed it very much. The semi slant is very efficient and it has a nice design as well. Perhaps you need to work more on your technic.
Friend. The same thing happened to me and I was able to realize that in the upper part of the head, specifically in the area that presses the blade with the base of the head. It had a bulge in the satin finish. I rectified it with a fine file and the problem was solved. The blade sits nicely at the base of the head and I was able to shave with excellent results.
I don't know how yours ended up looking like that but the one I just bought was perfect. In fact, I have just used it and it was the closest and smoothest shave I have EVER had. I own 4 Parker razors - the variant, the 65R, the 45R and the 55SL and all of them are built to a high standard and have performed amazingly well. I also use Parker blades, Derby Premium blades and Shark and have enjoyed the double edge shaving experience with them all.
Only 3 comments here so I can’t expect much useful feedback, however is this a fluke or has anyone else had these issues? I currently use a game changer closed comb 68, game changer 68 open comb, feather asd2, razorock lupo aluminum, merkur 25c open comb.
No fluke. I owned a Parker 96R. One side was mild, the other aggressive and the blade was angled which resulted in nicks, cuts and irritation. I look after a collection of vintage Gillettes which range from half a century to over a century old, and every one of them will still deliver an effortless bbs shave, no problem. Parker razors are junk imo.
Yeah, you can see that increased gap. I owned a Parker 96R back around five or six years ago, had to toss it because uneven blade gap & exposure. If my shaves weren't chock full of nicks and cuts, irritation always resulted. Stay away from Parker razors. Garbage imo.
