Parking Lot Striping - Money-Maker for Lawn Care Businesses

@@TheLandscapingLifestyle I just added it. I did the first job last weekend. I rented the equipment. I had to measure, chalk and square everything up. Profit was a little lower than I'd planned on but I'm still in the learning process. I rented a thermoplastic striping machine and it took longer to get the hang of it then I expected. I do see it being a very profitable add on service for office complexes and, possibly, condominiums. I don't see it working out on the scale I can offer (I'm solo and I'm staying that way) for apartment complexes or industrial parks. If you can scale for it, it could be. Maybe not with apartments as they are always looking to keep costs to a bare minimum. Best of luck with the new service

I have a quick question for you guys. Need help. And idea that is to be in the ball park. Im taking a seminar to get my licence this month. A friend owns a restaurant said she will help with cash but if i paint her parking lot. She owns a restaurant. It has 50 parking lots She wants them painted yellow. Whats a price range to charge for labor. She is renting machine and buying paint. So price for labor. What woupd you guys suggest ?

Parking lot striping if done correctly and priced right can make you a very good living with steady contracts and work.

@@TheLandscapingLifestyle good to know! Did you notice much overspray from the sherwin Williams? Seems like the rustoleum has a decent amount of over spray and seems to be kind of weaker in color.

Asking the real questions

Specs state that each can sprays approximately 200’ linear feet at 4” wide. We typically spray it slower and thicker and reach 170-180’ linear feet. A standard parking stall is 8’ wide by 16’ deep on each side so 8+16+16=40 linear feet. So you can do approximately 4.25 individual parking stalls with 1 can. Keep in mind that many parking stall lines are shared so it’s best to measure total linear feet of the lot and divide by 170 to calculate total # of cans needed. Hope this helps guys! So when you say parking stall is the 2 lines for the parking spot ? So You can do 2 parking spots 8 lines total Per can ?
