Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects movement due to the impairment of dopamine-producing neurons in the part of the brain known as the substantia nigra, which is Latin for “black substance”. Dopamine is responsible for movement, emotions and the perception of both pleasure and pain. The disease develops gradually with almost no noticeable symptoms except for a very slight tremor in one hand. Although hand tremors are the most well-known symptoms of Parkinson’s, the disorder also causes slowing of movement and muscle stiffness. Symptoms will continue to develop over the years and will vary slightly from person-to-person, but most likely lead to severe disability.

This posting has no information about end of life care. It was just a vague description of Parkinson's that could have come from a dictionary.

My grandpa let's me experiment with him(nothing crazy) but I have found that eating an anti-inflammatory foods, balancing the gut(Parkinson's has been proven to start in the gut)and taking a high quality multivitamin/ wholefoods supplement helps alot, it improved his gait for a while, his speech was stronger and overall had improvements that worked alot better than just taking the carbidopa/levidopa. He has since progressed and has gotten dementia to the point where he is now in a memory care facility unfortunately and they won't give him those things without a doctors order and most doctors don't advocate for truly healthy eating or good vitamins and such, so he has really gone down hill fast. He still with us and he is still walking upright and verbal at 90 years old with Parkinson's thats pretty good! I hope that what I've said is somewhat helpful, and encouraging, I am thankful for the large Parkinson's community that's out there and that we don't have to settle for one pill.

My grandpa's first symptom that everyone overlooked was his loss of sense of smell. And you are absolutely correct about the meds not slowing the progression, I feel like they have progressed it quicker.

My husband has Basal Ganglia Disease, atypical of Parkinson's a similar and very rare form of PD. He's 68 and is now in the end stage of it, after being diagnosed four years ago. It's been like a wildfire taking him down. He is at home, with hospice care coming into the home for cleaning him up and medical concerns only the last two weeks. There is nothing to stop it or slow it down. Looks like he'll be gone in 4-10 days as he's stopped eating, the death stare is now upon him disoriented etc.. It's been the hardest thing I have ever done regarding his care. Can't believe I'm losing my best friend after 25 years together. I still love him so.

I had to diagnose myself,as my GP did not think I had it as it does not run in my family. I saw a neurologist and as soon as he saw me walk he knew I had Parkinsons. I have gone downhill quickly since then.

God's mercy nano-medication should be the last-ditch treatment for end-stage PD (Parkinson's Disease) because it's real stem cell therapy too. End-stage PD patient, aged 86, and treated by nano-medication for one month, has stunned improvement, i.e. a lot of dopamine excretion. In other words, dopaminergic neurons can be regenerated. Nano-medication can help those endogenous NSCs (neural stem cells) to clear away so-called inhibitory molecules so that its regenerative potentials can be triggered for regeneration. All glory belongs to God !

I have a question which is not relevant to Parkinson. Is there any cure for tardive dystonia? I lost all my life to it. I got dystonia in 2016, had DBS in 2018, came to germany for my studies in 2019 and got my master's degree but now i feel suicidal lost my job in my home country, lost my youth and now i have a simple job in germany a continent away from my family and i am always alone

I'm sorry that you are going through what you are going through. I will be praying for you and your family. Please please don't take any end options its not what God wills nor wants for you, please watch Living Waters please also a movie called The Perfect Stranger on RU-vid. You are precious to Him He knows best and there are reasons and a plan to why each person lives a day more. He knows best in all things. He loves you and there are people that care about you too. I understand how it is to feel that way but by Christ's love strength He can free from those thoughts if you go to Him wholeheartedly and rest in Him. Don't decide to take your life in your hands nor in your own understandings but please rest in Him and in His understanding of things. If you feel any thoughts or moments please please go to Him seek Him wholeheartedly for He loves you. Suicide is not from God nor in His will please don't take it into your hands but rest in Him and His best will and understanding over all things. I will keep praying for you and your family. Stay strong, each day even with health issues and pain is precious for you are alive and is a new day that can be open for you and God to use and He can work through you. You can touch many people's lives and each day is special and is precious and valuable and so are you to Him and to so many.

I have heard many testimonies regarding the link between exercise especially high intensity and the slowing of the disease progression of PD. There also appears to be clinical proof of this. What are your thoughts?
