OMG , I remember this ! It was a Mapei/ Nora specifier nightmare . I was asked to come in on this project with spectra as a true hard surface master mechanic was needed . Well my 20 years of experience concerning USP 797 Aseptic clean rooms flooring and wall cladding systems and experience in epoxies and substrate conditions and industrial standards and guaranteed installations would not allow me to step on that jobsite . It was tossed around and butchered up . Lack of bonified master level installers was the catalyst , and 150 guys walking around with a Nora certification for a weekend crash course . (That was a slap in the face of every professional hard surface installer ) To this very day there is a shortage of bonified hard surface master installers ,and I’m not talkin about having some stupid card that a person gets from going to a 3 day or a 10 day course in another state . I’m talking about the ones that can produce their talent and professional skill and know not only how to install , but also adhere to the manufacturer guaranteed installation system with all components . Let’s face it mapei is a great patch , but if you mix too much water it will add another variable and the science behind the patch will fail and turn to talcum power and it will Fail . And then the product fails and the the joint commission issues a citation , and then it happens you can’t get onto a surgical unit due to non compliance , or like I’ve seen down in south Texas at a whole birthing wing replacement for Bovis Lend Lease back in the days of timberline. Use and funding from rooms and wings are lost in the billions every year for issues that arise from faulty non competent installations . Nora is also a absolutely great material for all mechanical purposes , and even not so as the maintenance is considerably less . However if the installer does not have the field experience . The product will fail and the whole system is broken . And it all happens over a company not sub contracting to bonified individuals, or employee based shops . It’s all over the big price tag of a USP 797 aseptic or USP 800 semiconductor clean room . And everyone wants a piece of the installation . So it fails . The end 🤙🏻
