In case you missed it, Earlier this week parks and wildlife service were dumb enough to publicly highlight to all, its blatant double standards. An act so stupid it resulted in a public lashing, of a size not seen since the dawn of our convict beginnings.

Rob, as my great grandpa, who for a time was chief justice of Tasmania used to say "The law is for everyone, justice is for them that can afford it" Someone is making or protecting big bucks out of Parks and wildlife's persecution and that my friend is corruption. The damage these bureaucrats are doing to Tasmania's reputation is mind boggling.

That's so sad. In Switzerland we also have national parks, but no entry fees etc. Your just not allowed to camp there, which is ok. You can camp almost anywhere else, do your social media stuff, drone vids etc. There's only one region (Wallis, Matterhorn) where you are not allowed to camp (some silly nature police harassing campers).

Rob/Levi, I started following you when you went in search of Stannards grave, the time, money and effort you put in was incredible. Stannards last resting place would never have been found and with out your efforts would have been lost forever. Parks and Wildlife should be supporting you and your adventures, not persecuting you for using PUBLIC LAND.

Hi Rob, for what it’s worth, I’ve written to your Minister Nick Duigan. His office has acknowledged receipt, and said they’ll reply when the matter is investigated. Happy to send another one to the Secretary that you mention. The whole matter is so unfair, discriminatory, and makes no sense. You blokes must have upset some misguided warrior, or bureaucrat. Good on you for sticking up for yourselves, and I encourage everyone to write to the minister. Keep at them. Cheers Wayne

Rob and Levi make Tasmania look magical and I was planning a trip from Milwaukee Wisconsin in the US but they way your bureaucrats act has made me rethink my visit because i don't want to be fined and overcharged, who knows i might even be arrested for something I might do by accident. So i am scared to come to Tasmania because of your bureaucrats and i am planning on going to Indonesia, I feel sorry for everyone living in Tasmania.

@@imchpr2000 Sadly, i feel this i exactly what it is all about. Having the one or the other photographer out in the parks has never been seen as a problem. Attracting hundreds of gold prospectors to the parks is a completely different story. P&W do everything in their power to curb the upcoming rush of prospectors to the parks. They see current legislation unfit to stop the stampede, thus, unsurprisingly, new regulations are pushed. Levi and Rob might win the battle for their land access and filming, but they will sure loose the war of keeping prospecting laws as they are.

We live in a country that loves red-tape, loves bureaucracy, loves the rule of law. As someone who's only lived here for 20 years I'm constantly amazed at the crap that everyday Australians not only put up with, but implicitly approve of. The shit you're going through is a perfect example - an absolutely meaningless set of regulations, that benefit absolutely no-one and which are enforced simply for the sake of enforcement by government officials who could be better employed doing something meaningful. Watching with interest from NSW.

It’s clearly obvious that the pair of you are no amateurs when it comes to the bush so of coarse you wouldn’t be damaging it. Think they really just want people sat on the couch and not leaving their properties probably because of global warming or something. There’s a idea take in a whole lot of native seedlings to plant on your way in to help with carbon capture 😂. Good luck trying to get this overturned and just hope they don’t employ consultants at a cost of millions to work a plan for you lol cheers for the content you produce.

As a landscape and portrait photographer, I’m with you all the way, Rob. At this point, Parks and Wildlife are looking to bury their head in the sand and hope this all goes away. They forget what power Tasmanian communities have when it comes to persuading public opinion and forcing change. I, amongst many, will write to our representatives and seek this change, but my strong advice would be to continue to try and get media exposure on this - if the noise gets loud enough, it’ll end up in the house of reps and head for bill amendments. Perhaps brace yourself for more of the ‘mud’ slinging before this sort of change occurs.

You're exactly right. Someone's amount of income from the photos, whether $1 or $1,000,000, should have no bearing on the rules or how they're enforced. I appreciate your ongoing strong voice on this issue. There has been a precedent set by Parks and Wildlife on limiting access and use of land that is going beyond what is reasonable for the protection of lutrawita (Tasmanian) land. The business licence and photography/videography issue is just one of them but deserves all the recognition for it's issues as it's getting and MORE. Beyond this is also the wulinantikala (Cradle Mountain) commercialisation building and additional fees you have talked about on your channel previously, the limitations placed on palawa people to conduct cultural burns/land management/hunting and gathering practices, the attempts to limit off track roaming but excessive infrastructure on others just to name a few. Common sense is not common to those at Parks and Wildlife but money and power talks

The level of incompetence across all levels of government in Australia is quite astounding. As a landowner in Tasmania, and that land backs onto a National Park I guess I should be weary of these facilitators of the National Parks that are actually owned by the people for the people, maybe they should remember where the money they get paid with comes from. When you first started posting about this, I watched and was thinking, "Well, maybe they have a good reason for restricting access..." But then I found out that the licensing rules were created in the Stone Age...well at least when it comes to the web, social media, and amateur content creators. Tas Parks need to drag themselves into the 21st century and move with the times. Back in the day when these rules were drafted, it would generally take a film crew of half a dozen, as well as kilos upon kilos of equipment to film anywhere remote. Base camps, generators, etc etc. A lot of potential environmental damage if it was open slather for filmmakers. Today, the same can be done with one person, such as you, with a few small cameras, some batteries, and a pack, leading to far less intrusiveness on the environment you are documenting.

The Qld gov and pws should b shaking in their boots too with their overarching and destructive practices. At Mossman Gorge in FNQ the pws cleared a massive area and built a massive information centre and car park amd now you have to pay an exorbitant fee to get on a crappy shuttle bus and be driven up to a place where you used to be able to drive. I mean even if they closed the road and made it walking acess only it would've been a better outcome

Yourself & Levi have my 100% support on this "Bureaucracy gone Mad" syndrome that has crept into Tasmania's good folk well being. Unfortunately the Master at the wheel of the Ship has let the "Crew" run rampart. Not a good standing for the "Master". One only has to look at the changes in Ministers portfolios that have been changed and "reshuffled" since they have been in Government. Please understand I am not one way or the other associated with Political Parties. To put in Layman's terms, those in power are elected by the people, and those that are reporting to those elected are required to abide by the wishes of the people' Not Dictate, enough said. The reply I received I refer to your email regarding the guidelines for commercial filming and photography activities on land managed by Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service (PWS). Mr Parsons applied for a business licence and was granted a licence. Licence conditions are standard for all filmmakers and photographers and are designed to protect the natural and cultural values of Tasmania. Mr Parsons has been told that if he wishes to venture “off-track” or do things that are different from the standard conditions, then he is encouraged to provide details to enable an assessment. To date nothing has been provided. The PWS routinely provides approvals for these activities where they are deemed to be sensitive and appropriate. This process does not incur any additional cost or require a separate business licence application. The PWS is committed to improving the application process and fees for commercial filming and photography licencing to ensure it better reflects not only traditional forms of commercial filming and photography, but also accounts for contemporary operators, such as online content creators. More information on conducting business in our parks and reserves can be found on our website: parks.tas.gov.au/about-us/conducting-business-in-parks-and-reserves Thank you for writing to me. Parks & Wildlife seem to have an over ending desire to exclude people from the parks. The parks I have visited recently now only have a tiny fraction of the facilities (tables, chair barbecues), they once had.

As a photographer and a gold prospector I hope Parks get some sense and make some some better decisions for everyone in the future. Plus I’m sure the wedding photographer is making money from their photos utilising Tassies scenery.

Rob and levi, my dudes U must realise your winning the fight here, u have sense and reason on your side and overwhelming public support, parks cant continue to lambaste you whilst showing complete contempt for what they are trying to over regulate you on .the hypocrisy is unbelievable. I think a public rally in you guys support is in order. I know it would be huge.

Good on ya Rob. I'm a Tassie boy now living in Perth and miss the Tassie bush. I grew up on King Island with the few pockets of rainforest left there as my playground. I would give anything to go for a walk through the bush there again. Your content puts me back in the bush right next to you mate. It's bloody fantastic. And I can also tell you how appreciative I am that you do show respect for where you are. You are the guy that is showing off Tassies' raw beauty to the world and the adventures that are just sitting there waiting to be had. Keep fighting the good fight mate. Cheers Heathro

I'm not aware of any law that would prohibit photography in a national park or require a licence of any kind. Generally with photography, anything goes so long as you aren't trying to monetise pictures including people, in which case you need a model release. Other exceptions may be certain private property or sensitive subjects such as military installations, but nature photography should be free for all to participate. It does rather sound like a classic case of injelititis in this parks and wildlife outfit.

I once did some track work for Parks. I took photos of my work and posted them on my socials. Next day, I got a call from Parks threatening me with legal action if I didn’t take them down! A few days after that I got paid for my work. A few days after that, I got asked to do more work for them! I said no thanks. What a circus!

Rob. You and Levi are awesome film-makers, and are so respectful of the amazing environment you so beautifully highlight . Believe in yourselves, and know that you have so many of us behind you. Small minded ( Jealous ?? ) beaurecrats are soooooo frustrating to deal with . Keep up the fight for common sense

Thank you Rob and Levi. We need to stand united in this. I called PWS last week and they didn't know how to answer my questions and gave me an email address on compliance. I'm a landscape nature photographer based in Deloraine Tasmania and share content to promote our beautiful Wild Island State. They should be thanking us as they do in NZ for free publicity. Instead they want more $$$$. We pay far too much already in this country. Taxed on everything sometimes triple taxed. Enough. Blaze a Trail Boyz.. We have your back 🙏 @joykachinaphotography

My knowledge of Tasmania amounted to a few photos that friends had shown me. But not anymore. Following your travels has given me a real interest in Tasmanian wilderness areas. So much so that when I watch your shows I follow along on google maps so I can actually see where you are and the area you are travelling. This has given me a better knowledge of the river systems, lakes and button grass plains etc. National Parks couldn’t run a billy cart race let alone fairly manage access to a wilderness area as you have shown. Keep going, the snowball is getting bigger.
