Always keeping our chainsaw chain sharpened is very important as it is efficient but at the same time we don't strain the chainsaw itself. There are many ways to sharpen a chain. The best known and perhaps the best is by using a file manually, either by using a guide or freehand. On the market there are also hand grinders that work with 12V voltage, but also electric grinders like the one I will present today.
This is a chain grinder of the company PARKSIDE PSG 85 C2. It has a motor with a power of 85W and rotates at 5000 revolutions per minute. The wheel disc it uses is 3.2mm and covers 3/8 and ¼ chainrings. To use the grinder, we need to fix it on a stable surface for safe operation. More information on the assembly and settings of the grinder is presented in the video.
By using the electric sharpener we achieve easy and quick sharpening of our chains. During grinding, we gradually rest the disc on the teeth of the chain to prevent them from overheating and burning.
Certainly many prefer to grind the chain with a hand file, which in my opinion is the ideal way, but this practice requires some knowledge to achieve the desired results.
Advantages and disadvantages of an electric grinder.
Advantages include the easy and quick way to sharpen the chain. However, among the disadvantages, we can mention the increased wear of the chain during sharpening and the risk of burning the chain if the contact of the disc with the teeth of the chain is continuous.
However, it should be noted that there are many electric grinders on the market at very low prices, making them very affordable. Today's treadmill I'm featuring, the PARKSIDE PSG 85 C2, is one of them, as I got it from LIDL for just €26.99.
