Had the honor of seeing these guys on their first USA tour back in 06! Then they stayed at our apt after the show! Winston was the homie who gave me confidence to get some ink done! Parkway forever!
For me We butter the bread with butter are masters of breakdowns. If you don't like their newer stuff like 20km/h check out their older stuff it more deathcore then metalcore, but they have sickest breakdowns I've ever heard...
I feel like this song describes the fear of the unknown waters that people had during the medieval times when they had to rely mostly on water transport. There were numerous sightings of mythical beasts such as Kraken, and huge serpents to destroy ships and eat the crew alive, during those times.
I think these guys have quite a few songs about sailor folklore in there earlier albums. Pretty fucking cool if you ask me. They should have kept it up. Would be awesome to see a metalcore band where there lyrics are about sailors, ships, and sea monsters.
The very first song I heard from PWD. One thing that always made me love PWD more is the heart they put into their music. There has always been something special about them that I can't really put my finger on to what makes them unique in eyes and ears? These guys inspire me so much! Every time I listen to them, they never, ever, get old for me. A lot of other bands I listen to kinda fade out after a while, but PWD have never been a phase band whatsoever. Their breakdowns, melodies, solos, Winston's vocals... They are the kings of metalcore! I have a feeling I will stick with this band as I grow older, moshing in my rocking chair! Thank you PWD!
Thomas Lazenby the first one I listened to was Dark Days which I still love, that breakdown at 2:51 though is INSANE! Are you still rocking out to these guys?
Parkway Drive - Boneyards Lyrics These are the sentiments of a cold-blooded cynic So believe me when I say I would love nothing more Than for everything to end unpleasantly Concrete shoes, rising tides, grey skies, let none survive, don't... Don't say I didn't warn you I would rather see your face in hell Than speak another word of this perfect world I would rather see your face in hell Than speak another word of this perfect world Of this perfect world Oh, to be buried beneath the waves A sailor's grave, it's all I crave Bury me, bury me five thousand fathoms deep And leave my bones for the depths The sharpest teeth await our skin The sharpest teeth await Bloodlust swarms upon our worthless existence, go The devil's teeth (the devil's teeth) The devil's teeth beneath our skin Whispering of silent vengeance Blood debts remain unpaid Now every breath of life has been betrayed Every ideal has rusted through Nothing we hold brings solace (feed us to the sharks) So let nothing remain Feed us to the sea To be buried beneath the waves A sailor's grave, it's all I crave Bury me, bury me five thousand fathoms deep And leave my bones for the depths There's blood in the water (sinking, always sinking) There's blood in the water (sinking, always sinking) There's blood in the water I would rather see your face in hell Than speak another word of this perfect fucking world
Listening to their albums in the order they were released really makes you realize how great and diverse PwD actually are. As bands try too hard to try and change to create new material which is "different", Parkway nail it naturally. These guys are such an inspiration to the metal genre and I can't think of a band with guys as genuine as these. Actually can't wait to to see them in December, and remember kids . There's blood in the Water!
World, meet Australia. We live in a country where the mercury hits 40C+ in summer, we drink more beer than water, where tanned, leggy blondes outnumber men 3 to 1, where every single living creature that isn't human is trying to kill us, and where our greatest musical offering are these five guys from a little town up north. Five of the coolest human beings you'll ever meet in your life, the most non-rockstar, down-to-earth dudes ever.
I struggle very hard to find another artist on their level. The attitude, the splendid quality of the instrumentals, and the vocals. I definitely recommend Five Months if you are interested in Parkway Drive
Because I don't like the past two albums at all. It's not even the same kind of music. Yeah bands evolve. I get that completely but the past two albums aren't evolution. Imo they are a total downgrade and they are better musicians than that. Again that's just MY opinion and it's not going to change
The shark lives in that ocean plus sharks love metalcore hardcore Deathcore and progressive metalcore and death metal and heavy metal and grindcore bands and other genes.
I'm mainly into Hip Hop. My friends and my brother listen to this kind of music. But holy shit, this stuff is so intense. My brother showed me this song a while back and i loved it.
