I don't know how they could evaluate the carbon tax's impact to both the consumer and industrial areas. This is not a video game or computer program that you can simulate with various factors. The only truth is laid out in front of every Canadian resident: how much the food and transportation costs everyone, is it better than pre carbon tax or post carbon tax? I don't see how we could help the environment or climate by adding carbon tax on everyone's expense list. The whole idea is stupid and unpractical. They just wanted to make up some number to prove their decision is not wrong. But who really cares? It feels hot outside no matter what your weather cast says. Get rid of the carbon tax, nobody asks for it.

Ok but why wouldn't you include the carbon tax paid by industry? It affects the prices of everything. What's happened here is that Trudeau's ppl have invented a flaw, then pressured the PBO to announce a "correction". We know this is the case b/c it's consistent with how Trudeau operates, and again, including the tax on industry in the calculations makes perfect sense.

Theres no doubt in my mind the PMO has, and is putting a tremendous amount of pressure on him to spin how great and insignifigant the tax is.

Don't we pay the industrial impact up front....built into pricing and then the carbon tax is put on again.

The problem with carbon tax on natural gas is that it is charged on used natural gas, storage, distribution, and delivery cost and on basic charge. My last gas bill was $19.90, cost of gas was $1.12 and cost of carbon tax was $1.99.

There is no situation where a government adds a massive tax and the bureaucracy to implement it and citizens are better off - period.

Industrial tax trickles down at ALL TIMES to the consumers. There is no denying that.

Nothing is grown or moves in Canada without the use of fossil fuels at some point. To top it off there are taxes on top of carbon tax that inflate it further. Think about every business we deal with, they likely heat their buildings and hot water with natural gas. Every restaurant I know of will use natural gas to prepare your food. All these extra charges have to filter down to the consumer at some point. We live in a society that wants their goods delivered multiple times per week to their door. Last time I looked all these vehicles are consuming fossil fuels as well which doesn't help the emissions either. Every reefer truck on the road uses diesel to keep your food goods at the right temperature. It goes on and on if you really start looking at it so I really doubt we get more than we pay.

The impact is canadian imports are not subject to the carbon tax....that is canadian exports are in free fall

Don't forget the 200,000,000 it take to pay the govt employees who work at administration of it

The overall point is to determine if the environment will be better off with a carbon tax. No matter what, there will be an impact on the economy, but a strong economy is useless if the environment (biosphere) we depend on to live in is destroyed. I have no idea how to determine if the carbon tax is working or not until we have the tax in place for a least a few years and then look at carbon consumption over time to see if it has been reduced and if the tax money has been invested by the government to help reduce impacts on the environment.

Generally speaking no average Canadian family is negatively impacted by the carbon tax. Even Insincere Pierre admitted that 4 out of 10 families get more back from the rebates. These are the poor and middle income ppl.
