Parodies definitely can still work. What We Do In The Shadows is basically just a parody of every vampire trope and I would argue that is one of the funniest shows on tv right now. Also for my musical theater lovers I would highly recommend Starkid productions. They have been making hilarious musical parodies for a decade now. They are most well now for their Harry Potter musical, but they have so many other amazing shows. They’ve parodied Batman, Aladdin, James Bond, the Oregon Trail to name a few.

I remember Vampires Suck way too well for something I've only seen twice. When I was 14, I used to think the Black Eyed Peas joke was hilarious but maybe only if you aren't expecting it. Another joke I remember laughing at because it caught me off guard was when Charlie says, with such seriousness, in reference to the recent vampire killings, "You know what that means: The Kardashians are in town." I think this parody is one of their least bad ones because there is a (sorta) cohesive plot and there are jokes.

I think it was Mel Brooks who said that a good parody movie works when you can still laugh at the jokes even if you’ve never heard of the original source material. And that’s what Seltzer and Friedberg don’t get about their own humor. There are reasons why something like South Park and Rick and Morty were so successful.

It isn't a "parody movie" in the same way those in this video are, but 2009's Black Dynamite is certainly a loving homage to the 70s Blaxploitation films, affectionately mocking all of the genres main tropes. Unlike most of the films in this video, it's actually very good.

I remember when I watched Scary Movie in theaters, my best friend and I counted something like 11 movies and 5 commercials directly parodied. Years later, almost none of the commercial parodies get recognized by new viewers.

Id argue one of the VERY few good things to come from RU-vid in quite a while. The platform has been going dry for a while now for whatever reason. But this channel is gold. Possibly only rivaled (in my mind) by Hailey Elizabeth, and of course, Queen Bailey Sarian.

I appreciate you highlighting the Wayans family as really influential. Not a lot of people I know even are aware of who they are because their not as famous as other celebrities, as they are Black. It's really well done. Thankies

Dude, what? Do you know who the Zuckers are? You walk around tomorrow and ask people who they are… no one knows. And not because they’re white, because they’re from a long time ago. Time passed, names fade unfortunately it’s not about skin color. That takes away from their accomplishments as well as the fact that she said their movie was extremely popular financially. Whilst Leslie Nielsens film from the 90s flopped both commercially and financially.
@miaferrari958
@miaferrari958 Год назад
@@nicholasmarino7375 The difference being that the "Zuckers" only wrote crappy parodies in the early 2000's while the Wayans were huge for over a decade, and not only for Scary Movie. I live in South America and even I know about In living color (an actually good show, btw), My wife and kids, White chicks (which was huge here, same with the first two Scary movies) and Major Payne, to name a few off the top of my head. So, not the same at all...
