Bro all the Martial Artists (Sean Paul, Crazy Legs, Flava Flav) are lame as hell to fight, specially in Hard, they just spam attacks with weirdass timing gaps that always leave them in parry- even if you do parry, and they parry/reverse every dam thing you throw at them Lit the only reliable way is to hold block, bait a grapple and do a reversal, so playing as campy as they do
To sum it up: Parrying: There are three different types of parrying. Parry+, which is the best in the game due to amazing follow up combos, limb damage and removes most safe options from characters. Parry Neutral is reserved for non-Martial Arts styles, which is a standard parry. Some styles with Martial Arts combinations (those with Submissions and Wrestling involved) have Parry-, which is considered the worst due to the lack of combo potential, but it does do limb damage. The minus parry have a lot of cool animations (using the strengh of your opponent against Himself as Aikido) but depending of Your style the damage is ridiculous and is better only use the normal block.
I feel like more examples of the parry differences on moves should have been shown tbh. Plus there is info on both Parry - damage and block differences that are not here as well. Short summary is I like the video, but there is more information that could be added
Whatever the parry, it's still possible to complete the story game in any possible style even on hard! You just have you get use to this game. But if you ever lose once in matches doesn't mean you are too noob play this game👊👍
when i was younger playing this game i didn't how to master the block it but with the parry system in this game i was able to master it when i got the game again.
Hi element. I know this video is already 10 months old but I want to use this video to show my appreciation for your channel and your dedication to one of my favorite and best fighting games ever. Your style combination videos helped me a lot to see which combos are interesting for me and who has which moves in his arsenal. This video is another example of helpful tips I like to watch. There is one thing in the game I still don't know and maybe you could help me. I'm not sure if it makes sense to make a video about it but I still don't know how to do this "special" environmental moves. I don't mean the ones where you grapple, throw them to a wall and grapple them again. I mean the ones where you grapple them and do from this position an environmental move with them. I hope you know what I mean. It would be awesome if you still read this comment and help me with it. Keep it up!
I liked the explanation. It would be nice if some CC combinations had Parry Plus to somewhat compensate for their weak punishment game, and I think Guido is a good example. He still wouldn't be great, but a little more usable.
It would've been better when you have parry minus an opponent you can punch him on the ground (if you have streetfighting style) or apply a submission move (if you have that style). And one change I would like to see is that even though you are blocking hits, you still take reduced damage from your opponent hits.
I was so confused when I watched this. Turns out, there are in fact 2 significantly different Def jam games. This one seems to be the events that happened after the first game which don't really have cut scenes and the fighting is a little different which is why I was confused, but then I finally got this sequel to work on my pc.
It confused me too, I didn't know either and I see now it's a psp game. I was like.. wait, who are those characters, he modded his game or what lol. Now you've tried it, could you tell me if you preferred it ?
You should do a video on the difficulty that correlates between the story mode and the regular battle modes. If you finish all the matches, that includes the bonus ones, there will be no crowds for your fights in battle modes. So what I did was finish up to the final club murder ffa and I decided not to finish that last match. And the results were that the crowds showed up for one of my finished characters
I own my own modded Ps3 with a bunch of Ps2 titles and this game i play the most. I still am playing it even now. Parrying is pretty easy once you get the hang of it honestly 🙂 its a matter of knowing the opponents moveset let alone the timing of the combos. Spamming the parry can easily get you started.
In takeover version you press l with r to counter attack and one more thing in takeover if you have submission your character will automatically perform a run back grapple which allow you to do unblockable ground submission (sm is pretty broken in this game)
Hey bro. I just played takeover, and for the life me I can't figure out how to get out from pursuits and environmental. Sometimes, I just get lucky to roll away. It is not on the tutorial so it's really annoying.
haymakers type maybe? hahahaha doesn't matter, you're helping everyone with this videos men, like this types of guides, now i know what style combination do for every parry, thanks element.
i don’t care what you guys say (Parry -) is my favorite because it teaches you how to chain Holla Back combos and learn the enemies hit boxes to land a Holla Back and Dirty South Special combos and I feel like (Parry +) is too easy i like a challenge if you guys pay attention Mr. Noob story playthroughs Jeet Kune Do aka MA, WR + SM their are hard punches and kicks certain hitboxes that have ranges that can smack you opponent after they can get up from a counter takedown that chains into a Holla Back combo just saying
@ゆみす魔王 their are certain hit frame that you can chain combos. But you right about that shit hella useless against Snoop he counters everything like Doc lol. But for new players who’s getting a feeling the game lol good luck 🤣🤣

Parry-ing is the most hardest defense type to perform. It takes a lot of practice until you actually able to mastered it. Of course even parry masters get hit. Timing is everything.
I like how you make the game into your own universe..Man, I love this game, been binging it hoping to play someone who understands how good this game is one day. Fancy graphics do not make a game good!!
Running for 10 or 15 minutes provides 20% speed power. Throwing 50000 punches increases 20% more punch power. 20% health is also gained while trying to throw 50000 punches.
Hey element, a couple days ago i made Kimbo Slice,And Billy hope from southpaw movie can you make those characters to see the difference in the ones are mine and yours ? Thanks brother ! 👊🔥
I really should've, now that you mention it. Dante was talking to me about some other things and I ended up asking and confirming with him some of things in the vid. Dante then also told me about the other stuff you mentioned in the other comment but for this video I just went for a general overview of the parries. Nothing too too deep. Maybe that could be done in another video 😉
i play alot of time, and i learn many tricks in your videos. you are the yahoo answer of def jam.!! if the game is remasterized in the future, in mode history must to change the teacher henry rollin for you. you can to make a video tutorial for play online. with dolphin for gamecube is posible play online or use parsec with pcsx2 ?
It'd be interesting if this mechanic made more sense or gave options SF shouldn't have parry + (Should be neutral) Wrestlers should get parry - (bodyslams) maybe KB/Sub/MA
I've made a bunch of styles and have avoided Parry Minus like the plague. Since I'm older and better, I decided to go with the OG style I first used when I was a teen... WR, SF, & MA! It's definitely NOT worth it. Parry Minus SUCKS!!!! It took way longer to beat Xzibit, Sean Paul, etc. PARRY MINUS SUCKS BADLY DON'T PICK IT.
I find really weird to give SF the Parry+ chance The game itself says "wildly undisciplined" so you'd figure a body expert and absolute unit like SMs would get that privilege instead, specially since SF already has the busted heavy punch
