My Lab Nikki broke her chain and her harness and escaped from the backyard once people started setting off fireworks. This was the evening of July 3rd and we simply forgot that people start early. When we returned home our neighbors helped us search for her and after almost two hours of being gone, we found her and brought her back home to relax. We have six dogs (1 Lab, 2 Pitts, and 3 Yorkies) and they all freak out when people start popping fireworks. Thankfully we were able to end this evening on a good note but please remember, July 4th is the #1 day out of the year that most dogs and cats run away. July 3rd is going to become a close second I think.
