I just blew the dust off mine after hibernating for ~2yrs (wow). I wanted to set some waypoints and chase it around w/my fpv drone lol. I had pretty much forgotten everything about flying it. Thanks to these vids it was a quick refresh!
Parrot was pretty creative with the camera stabilization and "gimbal" design on their drones. It performs better than you'd think being that it's all done in software. It also makes for a lot less things to go wrong or get broken.
This was a really great range test, with none of the idiocy we see in other ones :) Amazing location as well. Where I am clouds just don't do that ! Keep up the great work...
Bought one for a couple of weeks ago, im loving it! Have tested the Range and i get around 3 km away without any problem. The shots are of good quality and the battery time is great, around 20-25 minutes depending on the weather, if its windy or so on :)
Im a non gps race quad flyer goggles and 6s 5inch 90mph beasts are my staple diet but im looking for someting to film me hitting gates and phantoms are tooooo exspensive im genuinely astounded at how far technology has come this is a proper flying robot i could set the way poimts get the ts215 in the air get this up on its flight path and make some great mixed footage dvr from the 215 and the following footage from this and get some really high quality videos out again
I just bought the Bebop 2 Adventurer Pack (with SkyController 2, FPV headset and backpack). I'm just exploring the features at the moment, but I love it. As I only have a 1080p TV, the lack of a 4k option doesn't bother me that much.
I live in a city area that used to drive my DJI phantoms crazy with failed connections but my Bebop 2 flies in the same area with no problems at all ... the only thing the Bebop 2 needs is larger recording storage or an micro card slot
Actually compared to the spark at least, it does have a better quality camera with slightly better stabilization especially while in sport mode, The spark doesn’t completely stabilize the image in sport mode
I used to own two of these. Absolutely loved them. Powerful and fast. The 1080p camera wasn't that great but did the job. The range was terrible but hey. So wish parrot vame bk and make a new version updated it. I would so buy it again.
How’s it going! I got a question Just bought one and I can’t fly it far or high without it loosing signal and coming back to my location do you know what might be causing that? I tried searching it but seems like nothing helps?
With my countless hours flying Boeing aircraft from PMDG in Microsoft Flight Sim, I particularly like the ability of this drone to follow flight plans using a simplified analogue of Boeing's LNAV (lateral navigation) and VNAV ( vertical flight profile), that would normally be programmed into the FMS/CDU located in the Boeing flight deck pedestal. Sure wish this Parrot Beebop had a greater range though. I am looking at the Fimi X8 as my next drone purchase, because of its flight plan capability, and a range of up to 4 miles.
One of best drone that ever.I decided to fly Parrot Bebop 2 just before the pass through Miami the winds were 45mph and gusting more 50mph +look at test
Thanks Dustin, informative video as usual. Good to see you put the Bebop 2 RTH feature and range test through its paces. I’ve got a couple of 4000 mah lipo batteries for this baby to boost its range. Still in awe of the polish dude who flew the bebop 2 over a distance of 14 plus km in Poland, on RU-vid truly epic. Anyway thanks again.
Good video. I was concerned that while using flight plan that I could not take over if I encountered and issues. You answered my questions...I’m guessing flight plan is gonna be the same for my bebop2. thanks.
Dustin your review was very detailed and theral. I think I'm gonna make this my next drone. Also the location was superb. It's so beautiful and tranquil. Thanks again.
I kept trying to see where the ZOHD crashed when you were flying back over the field. Couldn't pick out the spot, since the ZOHD came down so fast and spinning .. no orientation. 1.7 miles isn't bad. The only negative I have on this one is the dynamic range of the camera. Seems you have to point at the ground to be able to pick up any detail. I see your weather, then look out my window at snow and 15 deg. F temps ... not much outdoor flying going on here. Cheers.
So when it was in RTH mode, when the video came back up, I noticed it had in RED STOP RTH, could u click that an regain normal control of the drone again..!!.Great Vid..!!.Lookn To Purchase this Drone..2021..🙏
So Dustin is it worth buying this drone as a first time user drone and then upgrade a year later to a more expensive maybe DJI drone? My friend did this and he said his still loves his bebop 2. Opinion ?
Heard a lot of negative things about this drone, seems like it works well. Have you had issues with disconnecting? Would you say it's a good value for the price? How do you think it compares to the DJI mavic platinum?
Hi Dustin cool review of the Bebop. The footage was great. Nice flying my friend. big like. I been trying to find a cheap Bebop 1 camera any idea's. thanks
Great video. Seems like a decent traveler. It blows me away how sophisticated they are. Is there FAA regulations or did you have to contact them for regulations? I read that some you have to but not sure how true it is. You picked a good day for this dude, the cloud layers and sunset are a great addition to the review ;) Beautiful spot. Much enjoyment on my side, keep em coming please :)
I now have a mavic pro but before I have a bebop 2 such a robust and easy to repair drone I change to mavic pro almost just for the flight range. Really cheap for a great user friendly reliable UAV
Well when I bought my Bebop 2 I found that not only would the battery in the Sky Controlled 2 not hold a charge, but had an obsolete battery in it which could not be replaced. Parrot told me they would replace the controller with one that had the new style battery. That was over a month ago. Finally they told me to send them my old controller and they would replace it, that was two weeks and two phone calls ago, and I still have heard nothing and I have no controller at all. Might be a good drone as long as you don't trouble with it.
I love the airplane mode on the Bebop so it can bank....Love the way looks in flight and the FPV is cool....The way point program works great....Only wish they would put a better camera....Alway have jello problems with mine.....
Yet another sweet film mate love the distance tests ... can you do a range test with dji spark without o t g cable just to see if the updates have made it any better please ??? 👍
Why parrot Didnt upgrade the bebop 2 with a 4k camera and better antennas/range is beyond me. There are things that I like about the bebop that to me are better than that Anafi. Its a sturdier design, very fast, and has equal or better wind resistance imo than the DJI mini, I’ve flown my bebop2 in 35 plus mph winds. An upgrade ( bebop 3?? ) would be a solid winner in my opinion. The real limitation with this drone is the poor range you get in urban areas but aside from that I love it.
Nice flight, Dustin. I really like what I have seen of the Bebop 2 birds. If they would start offering them without the goggles bundled, I think the price would be more competitive, especially on the Bebop 2 Power.
Justin, I enjoy all your videos and hope to enjoy many more. Question, can you do a pre flight plan with the mavic pro like you did with the Bebop 2. It seems like the mavic you have to fly the drone to each point then fly the plan.
Hello Dustin, excellent video, and great Information always, I have a question the video you recorded its just as it is I mean you didn't edit i mean the camera doesn't record shaky videos with jello effect it records very good? Without showing jello effect? Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽
Great review Dustin. Loving the Bebop, hopefully se some more flights with ya on this bird. I've just purchased waypoints again for mine- will be doing some very soon. Thanks buddy. :)
Nice video, Parrot Bebop-Pro Thermal is a cool economical thermal drone solution, good work Parrot! Can't find even a single proper review of this Drone on RU-vid. Can someone please do a video about Bebop-Pro Thermal with unboxing and complete review, also please show the settings on the thermal view of the FreeFlight Thermal app, what are the use cases for this drone. Thanks.
Hello, awesome reviews Dustin! They’re very helpful. But I’m stuck deciding between the Bebop 2 Power or the Dji Spark. There’s about $140 difference between the two packages. Which would you recommend for a first GPS drone?
Great job man just one question that bird is actually controlled by a computer does not actually have a gamble or am I wrong and what’s a good price on that
Awesome Video as always. I've very close to buying the Bebop 2. I just don't know about the SkyController 2 it seems very small and hard to find the right buttons/ it could be your giant IPad. The first skycontroller is huge but looks to me to be better built and better for control. Please let know your thoughts on the controller change.
Good point . With a phone it's not bad and you can see the buttons better. They both get about the same range but I miss the HDMI out port on the sk1 so you can plug in your goggles of choice 👍
I miss home. Thank you for such awesome footage and great reviews. Also, I have a question. HOW does the Bebop camera gimble work? I always thought it was a FIXED camera. How do you tilt it down? Does the entire craft pitch? There are no videos anywhere explaining this. Mahalo~
+KIDTAKO it's electronic image stabilization within a fixed fisheye high definition image. It's recording a 4k fisheye video, crops a section to supply 1080 max res of stabilized video. When you pitch camera it's just moving the cropped and stabilized section within the uge 4K fisheye 👍
Ok, 2 questions. Using a cell phone on 3D goggles like that do you need an emulator to split the screen and if so what did you use? 2nd question, when you film everything going on with the phone or tablet screen what are your suggestions for that? The flight footage is fantastic!
Very nice flight. Absolutely lovely scenery. I'm looking to buy a Bebop 1 (new, for about 190 USD in local currency. The Spark is 600 USD here with no controller). There doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the Bebop 1 and the 2, except for batterylife, is that correct?
There exstreamly stable powerful quads and the camerea has computer stabilisation just a fantastic bit of kit i have no idea why people would get a mavic heck they even give the phantom pro a run for there money its no race drone but for photography and exploring if i wasnt poor id buy one in a heart beat i kinda like the disco aswell for long range the disco is what you want
Stiletto ... as far as I’m concerned, NO DJI products can compete with bebop2 or disco... no fly zones limitations, no altitude limits, no range limits (they support 4G!), pleasure of rolls and loopings... digital headtracking... Full HD is well enough for me, 4K or 8K are maybe better for professional motion pictures but I could not care less... I just put my insta360 ONEX on the bebop2 or the disco, and that’s all.
heya. Just one question cos Im really sold on this. _ALL_ wifi fpv stuff for me has been very limited in range. Does this plug into the transceiver to increase the range? or is it just for power and it uses magic to increase the range? Loved the video. me and a friend were hypnotised for the first time over a prebuilt quad :)
Hi Dustin! Thanks for your great reviews, you got me into buying my own Bebop 2 PWR FVP. I was looking at you sun visor, where did you get it, and is it possible to get for a Samsung Note 8 you think? Thanks.
Parrot Bebop 2 vs DJI Spark ---- which one is the best in your opinion? If you absolutely had to choose one and that would be the last drone you ever buy?
HI again, like always, great review. Remember me saying something about bebop height issue after some time of flight in an earlier video of yours??? But now to my point. When your bb2 RTH and come in for landing, see your hight in app(what bb think it is). 7ft, when acually12-15 high?? I have my bebop land hard my times, and not finding its true hight after flight of several minutes.
+hav eric I have a new DISCO and will be doing more with it soon. A little nervous but I wouldn't do the distance tests without trusting the RTH ability first 👍
Dustin Dunnill Good to know! Ever think about drone footage over a volcano with lava etc? Or is the entire area locked down? Not sure what island you're on but I would imagine it would be a heck of a lipo to get to it the eruption if it wasn't on your island lol.
Thanks for sharing. I don't have the open areas like you do to fly so I am a little Leary of buying a WiFi drone and like my Phantom 3 even though in drone standards it is quite old. How does this one compare to the new Mavic Air for a WiFi drone?
dheller777 better flight time, maybe the best for a consumer drone that can fly over 30 mph and handle 40+ mph winds, ALWAYS returns home when loss of connection. Parrot just needs to put more effort in the wifi interference issues it has. It needs amplifiers installed stock so u don't loose connection in heavy wifi traffic. It's never looses GPS though.
My experience: Mavic Air range is better (I have both). Bebop Skycontroller 2 is larger and only supports 2.4Ghz. The Mavic Air controller is much more portable can and switch between 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz, the latter can be helpful in urban areas.
Awesome video pretty informative I'm going to buy one and I forgot about the bugs 2 I look at the hubsan 501 in the bugs too but the parrot 2 is definitely probably one of the better drones I have a parrot Bebop 1 but again good vid
jakey Dee FPV that’s if you connect with the iPad, put your iPad in airplane mode and connect the controller to the bebop before plugging the iPad into the controller
I really love your videos even if a bit long and this one is one of your shorter ones haha! One thing I like about your videos is the length because you are so thorough. I'm glad you were able to get more distance on your rural range test up on the mountain away from congestion. I'm getting about the same distance on the beach in Oregon. It's true that Parrots signal scheme does appear to be less solid than DJI's but I'm fine with the range as it is since I fly mostly in open areas with no congestion and within LOS. To me, the range is amazing! I got 1.8 miles out on the Oregon coast which is about the same as what you got. I'd like to know how you got your waypoint feature unless you paid for it. I only got a code for the tracking/Follow Me feature. I have the DISCO as well and I got the waypoint feature with that from the free code they provided but that did not transfer over to the Bebop 2. If you do try the Sport setting again, I highly recommend you test out the FPV mode and use Banked Turn ON. I'm not sure why your cable was falling off of your phone. It seemed fine in your DISCO/TRACKIMO/360 video. Anyway, the Sport mode and Banked Turn ON in FPV will give you a radical departure from regular photography drones and give you the feeling of an actual racer. I'd also turn off Stabilized Horizon too for FPV. The Bebop 2 Power excels at so many different flying options for what it is. This is one of the reasons I got the Bebop 2 Power, to get a feel for racing while still having the ability to do some descent videography at far less the cost of others. I feel the visual tracking features and the automated "smart" shots are all very similar to DJI's. The Mavic and Mavic Air do have a couple others but for the most part I feel they are all the same, but I feel the "smart" shots and tracking features are less intimidating on the Bebop 2 than DJI. The shear amount of features and menues etc. even the layout of the DJI app just seems less simple to me than the FreeFlight app. As for the camera: yes. I am with everyone, the camera is the biggest negative on the Bebop 2. But given a little research and understanding what the Bebop 2 is and what it can be used for and be fun for, I believe it is a better first aerial photography drone for the price. It's small, durable and easy to use. The none mechanical gimbal means there is one less thing to go wrong id you do crash (assuming you don't damage the lens). I don't mind the 1080p video and I feel the stabilization is the best digital stabilization I have seen in ANY camera. That being said, it doesn't match the quality of a mechanical gimbal that's for sure. The one thing I wish Parrot would do is give us a photo editor to easily edit the pictures to get the most extreme distortion I have ever seen in a drone camera. I mean the pictures are rediculous without post production. There is a JPEG SNAP picture mode that takes the distortion out but the quality of the picture is autrocious! That being said, the camera is what makes Parrot unique. Although in the case of drones it is a weakness. If Parrot were to go with a better system it would have to be a mechanical gimbal and I think that would be too much like other brands and Parrot would fail even more. I'm not sure if Parrot can squeeze 4K video out of the system without it being unstabilized. There were some people back in the days of the Bebop 1 and maybe the first Bebop 2's that were able to obtain 4K video out of the camera but it wasn't stabilized. The camera does shoot in 4K in terms of resolution (size) and then crops to 1080p for stabilization. For what it is I like the camera system. I just don't like the photos I don't have a program to edit them. One thing I love about the Bebop 2 Power is that it has one of the longest batteries in it's class for the money. It seems to be a bit longer than the Mavic Pro Platinum. I think for the money the Bebop 2 Power is the best first aerial videography drone available. I feel the features aren't nearly as intimidating compared to the Mavic's. It's less delicate with less moving parts and therefore more durable. The flight time is awesome to help you figure out and practice flying. I do highly recommend that you try the FPV mode. The right trigger on the SC2 will switch between your mobile device camera view and FPV mode. I love flying this thing in FPV with Banked Turn feature turned on! I think I am getting a lot of practice for racing quads. I do hope you can try the FPV mode out again with success. Thanks again!
I bought one of these from Amazon and I love it. Paid $400 and worth every penny. The app is fantastic and brain dead simple to use. To get videos off the drone simply connect to the BeBop's wifi network and transfer the videos to your device. Videos look very good even tho only 1080 rez. The down side is there is only about 7 gigs of space so you have to be diligent about moving videos off and deleting them from the drone afterwards. This is my first drone so will learn from this and perhaps get a dji down the road. But for right now...this is a blast!
What kind of range are you getting out of it? I see people saying they only get 300 meters out of it. And how did this guy happened to get 1.2 miles with his?
i also dont get this. I had the bb2, had it just climb straight above me, loose connection few times 60 meter straight above me? how is this possible? Maybe in rural areas less wifi around helps. Most i had was like 400 meter distance and started loosing picture then.
great video for the very underrated Parrot bebop 2 ... question for the bebop peeps im about to get a bebop 1 with that large skycontroller and a mess of batteries and ive heard that large controller will work with the bebop 2...is that correct? and how about the batteries will they also fit the bebop 2
I noticed on my Android app the waypoints are in meters, but not feet like the Apple app. Probably something people need to know, giving the Apple Freeflight pro app doesn't say.
There's a guy on here named mrkentdotcom that does a lot of Bebop videos go to his channel to get his website and on his website, you can download a PDF chart for free. It's a Meters to feet conversion chart. Also has speed conversions.
Yessir, I know and I'm subscribed to mrkent.com. I was just letting everyone know that to be on the lookout if you switch from iPhone to Android or etc. Android is meter and iPhone is feet. If one was to do a flight plan and get the two confused, it may cause a crash. Appreciate the imput
Could someone who owns the drone please tell me how long in minutes does it take to transfer the video file from a 20 min flight eg one batt charge onto your phone through the wifi connection to your phone without plugging it to a computer. Thank you.
Making me want a cheaper aerial, throw in the mix with all my race quads haha. Yo Dustin do a review on the bfight 210, cough cough or just buy it an keep it. Gearbest has frsky for dirt cheap...you'll thank me, great 5" Ditch the 5051 for a 5040-5046 😉
Dustin : What settings did you use when you flew over a mile in this test? Did you have WiFi off and airplane mode on? Just wondering what settings to use to get max range. I am using an Android tablet with USB cable attached to skycontroller 2 but I have had my WiFi turned on . What should I do to get the most out of my skycontroller2 ? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks : Dave
I just chose to get the Bebop 2 over the DJI spark for a few reasons: - Longer battery life (almost 10 minutes more) - Lower price (around $140 less for the Bebop 2 fly more pack includes 3 batteries, controller, and backpack) - Flight plan feature missing in DJI drones I hope it was a good choice...I just didn't want to spend too much money but wanted good enough video and image quality, range, and features. I guess I'll find out soon once it arrives if I made the right decision or not.
Dustin when you do fpv make sure you have output at 720 not 1080 so you get a much better picture in your phone. 1080 you get a much better product when yuu download the video but reception on your phone isn't as good. Thanks for great video
