So informative! This is my enrichment lol it has me assessing the cages and thinking of new ways to feed to the birds. And how to offer other types of enrichment. Thank you Sophie, Robin and Jason for your amazing willingness to share your knowledge. ❤

Thank you for making this video because I go crazy making toys, buying toys, etc. trying to keep my birds enriched and happy. I’m sure you and David and probably everyone else on here knows what I mean. I have also made foraging more challenging especially for my male cockatiel who’s really good at it. He’s a big boss like Fish and I kinda felt mean making it harder for him but eventually he figured it out and surprisingly it usually doesn’t take him long.

How good is their sense of smell? And also, do we know how good their memory is?

Their memory is great! Sense of smell is not as good as mammals but they still have some!

Hi! Thank you so much for interesting and educational content! Again need your advice: I had to rescue another green cheek conure, girl, 7?years old- just recently played eggs without a partner. She was thrown out of the house where she lived for 7 years and her choices were either PETCO or I would get her. I have 6 year old healthy green cheek conure male Koko, who is our pride and joy. Now I need all advice I can get from our parrot community: how I should introduce them so they become friends? I can not afford to have her in separate cage- right now she is in her own cage- but we don’t have space for it- so I am hoping they will get a long and can share his space. So far they hear each other and the short period when she got out of her cage- she was very aggressive towards him and he backed off. What do I do?

I've been experimenting with sprouting. I went back and found your video on sprouting. Where can I find the sprouting mix you showed in the video ? How long can you keep the sprouts after sprouting and how to store them after sprouting ? Thank you Sophie !
@BirdNerdSophie
@BirdNerdSophie 4 месяца назад
So I actually blend my own sprouting mix now which is more diverse - I’ll have a video on it in the coming months as I’m running out! I sprout enough for 3 or so days, and feed at each day so they are at a different growth stage! I do this rather than storing in the fridge as there is more of a risk of mould or bacteria growth that way! Some people have success storing in an air tight container for a couple of days in the fridge after drying them with a paper towel, but it’s so easy to sprout once you’ve got the hang of it that I just have a couple of jars on the go at different growth stages 😊

Dear Sophie , I thought I was supposed to keep the sprouted sprouts in the Fridge! I’ve been doing this for the last 2 1/2 years. So I’m supposed to leave them out? They never smell sour, and they last I thought 5 days. And I use grapeseed extract to help preserve them. Got the mix and sprouter from China Prarie. Should I leave them out on the counter? I value your advice very much. I’ve followed your advice the past 3 years when I got my baby cockatiel! I’ve used all of your and David bird advice and tips. You are both wonderful and knowledgeable.

@@mariasardos6860 You can store them in the fridge if you'd like, but I personally don't as I just have a continuous cycle of sprouts going on my counter in a couple of jars!
