Parson's Chameleons (Calumma parsonii) are the biggest chameleons on earth, and certainly the biggest lizards on Madagascar. They are some of the most rewarding chameleons reptile keepers can work with, and on our tour of Madagascar, I look into how these amazing chameleons are living in the wild so we better know how to care for them in our homes!

I still can't get over the fact that we got to interact with these literal tree triceratopses! Their grip was truly painful but so worth the handling! Some of the most impressive animals we saw on our expedition! Great video friend!

I am not blaming anyone. If anything it’s americas/ global consumerism and fast products that are causing this. It’s areas desperately in need of dollars that we fund and as a consequence habitats and Earth get destroyed. The most we can do at this point is try and play catch up to minimize damage but even then we are making minimal impact.

@@stevenhall8964 What do you expect them to do about it? They're poor (one of the poorest countries in the world) and have to live off the land. You think they can just get up and out and go work a 9-5 job like you do?

Chameleon that's another dragon 🐉 right there. You say they are opportunistic hmm humans and reptiles make up a lot of world populations,apart from fish and insects. Something is brewing here 👀 and I don't like where this is going. But I do like the knowledge about Madagascar: but what about the water? I know animals can tell the different solvent levels of water,and can choose not to drink it. Is it that much different from what we have in the states..? @DavKraufmanAdventures

Hi Dav. Are the Pinapples growing in forest due to accidental seed dispersal by other species i.e. birds and rodents or are locals deliberately planting them there? Don't the locals have there own Gardens,yards, allotments to grow food in?
@ggoannas
@ggoannas Год назад
It is one of the poorest countries in the world where there is currently a famine. The laws are crap. I know people buying land all over the place at the moment to convert for tourism. The only way poor people can clear land is by burning. Once the forest goes, the rains erode the top soil and the whole place turns into a dusty desert so they move to the next spot. How can you ask starving people to stop burning forests? And the people of Madagascar are truly lovely people. It is a horrendous situation.
@davkaufmansreptileadventures
They don't. They grow a lot of rice, and the pineapples in places like this are accidental

Unfortunately alot of it has to do with the political structure of the western world. The exotic far away lands get invaded by corporations and demolished to make room for all the crap needed to mass produce non-essential goods so we can keep buying fit bits and designer shoes, that lowers prospects for the locals and Unfortunately many times they resort to destroying what little is left for black market trading to survive. We really need to do better as a species and make the necessary changes to salvage what's left of the world, even if it means disregarding "profit" and adopting a more frugal lifestyle

The main thing I would do if I ever got these again is to give them a cool spot.They really don't like high temperatures! Keeping them free roaming in the apartment on the fish farm . The male would hang on the cable for the TV where the wall mount A/C would blast on him. then when keeping them in a half acre display greenhouse most of the time they would be close to eye level when the heat built up. The other thing is males would turn black to show submission to another male. Keeping them now might be easier as such larger insects such as horn worms are now available. The strangest thing mine would eat were lubber grasshoppers. They seemed to prefer males and would only eat a few before they got a look that said,"THAT'S A SPICY MEATBALL!" If you get that reference you know about how old I am. Needless to say that wasn't a main stay of their diet. To give some idea of how good their eyesight and intelligence is a tiger swallowtail butterfly got into the greenhouse. One of the males was walking along the guy wire in the peak of the greenhouse untill he made a maximum range shot to catch it They really duo have good mapping skill of their environment. He had to figure what tree or bamboo he had to get to the top of to get to the wires and which wires would get him in range of the prey item.

Hey Dāv, Madagascar looks like an amazing place. However, you could’ve called these vids “all you ever wanted to know about Old World Chameleons, ever... in life” and I’d be totally fine with that. Aside from the Veiled & occasional Panther my bro finds around his house in So Fl (and the Jacksons most often sold as pets) these videos have been an education as I had no idea there were SO many species and especially on Madagascar... 💥Mind Blown💥 I am a teeny bit disappointed you guys didn’t make it farther south as I was hoping you’d spy some of my favorite tortoises on the planet in situ (namely the Radiated.) But you did find that gorgeous python and Leaf Tailed Geckos so I forgive you. But I don’t forgive Adam... _Naaah j/k, we love you Adam_

Sad thing is just goes to show how much the people there don't care about the animal life there or they would be taking pains to ensure these creature don't die off and always have plenty of habitat to survive but like in most places the people don't care and they will just ensure the full extinction of almost every animal there just like they do here and any other place sadly or they wait till there's only a small few left and then try saving the species like they do in China which means the only reason they even tried at that point is the shit they're catching from the public eye cause God forbid they get embarrassed oh no not embarrassment not that no pffffft that's the sad part of these creatures lives they are doomed and it's a shame to such beautiful creatures that survived millions of years only to be wiped out by the biggest plague of all humans
