Agreed, not as difficult as I thought it would be. It's paying for the parts that hurt, expensive. Especially when a dealer mechanic is the person who overtightened the NAG connector and stripped it.

No it never have me any problems, the only reason I serviced it was because it's at 129k changed the filter and added fluid. Did a test drive and it did just fine. I got it back home and added another quart and since then it been shifting funny between 2nd and 3rd. The rpm's would rev up a little right before it would go into 3rd I'm thinking I over filled it and i probably damaged a shift solenoid. So I'm thinking that's the problem. i believe there are 5 solenoid in the transmission but I'm not sure which one is for 2nd and 3rd gear so I need a little help figuring this out.

Awesome video David, I found what I needed with your help. I was thinking of adding the b&m 10300 deep transmission pan on my nag1 for better cooling (holds 8qts but only thinking of using 7qts). Any advice on how much fluid I should fill afterwards. Thanks for everything in advance
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
It will depend......you are going to a deeper pan so that throws that number out the window. Your going to need a trans dipstick tool to check that fluid....not just adding a certain amount of fluid. With that tool.....you need to know the trans temp and have the related chart to show where the fluid level needs to be.

Excellent video, I watched them both and I'm having a little issue with my 06 5.7 charger. I recently did a transmission filter change, added fluid, drove it and it shifted perfectly so when I got back home something told me to add 1 more quart of fluid. Now I'm seriously regretting it now because my transmission slips only from 2nd, right between the shift to 3rd gear. Or right before it shifts to 3rd gear. The rpms would rev up just depending on how hard I'm on the gas right before it would go into 3rd gear. It only started doing this after I added an extra quart of fluid. All the other gears are fine. Im thinking it is a shift solenoid that's bad but I'm not sure which one it is. So having said what's going on what do you think the problem is and if it's a solenoid which one is it? Thank you.

Hello I am currently having a u0101 code on a 2006 chrysler 300c with the 5.7 i assume its the same tranny. Someone had suggested that the valve body can be the cause. Also when the u0101 code the abs and trac control lights also come on ans car will not auto shift and will not allow me to manually shift. I can shift from park, drive, and reverse just fine though.

Good morning, after watching this video, I swapped out a replacement Conductor Plate/valve body unit (was told by the dealership the conductor plate was my "issue", but they recommended replacing the entire unit, because "the valve body is $846, just a conductor plate itself costs them almost a thousand"...exact quote from my dealer...lol). I got this unit off ebay, the CP is brand new, they sent out a whole different valve body though. Installed it, went just find, thanks to your great video. Car drove just fine, shifted after ward etc during the test drive. Gave the car back to my daughter. She drove it for a day, now the car won't "shift" into gear (I can move the gear selector, and I know I've got the shift selector aligned in the valve body correctly, because it was going into gear)...does the TCU need to be reflashed or something? I'm at a loss as to why it would function "normally" for a 1/2 day, now it won't shift or even "go into gear".

I would love to know how this worked out for you. I'm about to install a new Valve body with a new CP on my 2006 5.7 Charger. It's exhibiting the same symptoms as yours. It requires a special tool to measure the fluid level if yours doesnt have the trans dipstick. I havent made a video on it yet. When it comes to fluid level....I always recommend starting with 4 qts and work your way up. Its always easier to add fluid then it is to remove fluid. I did a video showing this tool on another transmission. Its in the video......dont pay attention to the oil dipstick method in the video because yours isnt long enough to work on the transmission.

@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
You are going to have to place both the electrical guide bushing that the bolt goes thru and the plastic valve body overlay that the bolt threads into. You will have to try to break the bolt loose if possible using what ever you can such as a long screw driver and then once removed.....the guide bushing and then the valve body removed to replaced the damaged parts.

Hi. I´m living in South America and I´m having this issue with my 2018 jeep Wrangler sport JK: Sometimes after a short drive, it won´t start. It´doesn´t even makes any noise or clicking (battery is new), all lights come in the dash as normal, and after a while (15 o 20 minutes) it´ll just start normally like nothing had ever happened. I´ve been reading a lot, and found out that this is a common issue caused by the park/neutral sensor wich I´m trying to find. My jeep has the TI2TJ transmisión for which I haven´t been able to find this sensor. There are sensor on the web for the 42RLE. First thing is that the system needs to be scanned for codes using a higher end scanner that can access all the control modules. If its not shifting then there has to be a code. I dont want to guess at this time because it would just be a guess. Make sure that the fluid level is correct as well.

You may have an issue then, The trans temp sensor is part of the trans range sensor and if its bad, the valve body has to be dropped. It mounts on the top of the valve body and slides down around the selector shaft. When you drop the valve body.......there are some large springs and pistons on top that go into the trans. Be prepared and make sure not to loose them or mix them up. Its a bit fun to line it back up when reinstalling the valve body

Does that take all the transmission fluid out by doing this?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 6 лет назад
It only removes what is in the pan....not whats in the torque converter which is a few quarts for sure. Thanks for the question Rene! Make sure to subscribe

Thanks buddy ill make sure to have my nonifcations on too and i have one more question I have a code of p2767 input/turbine? Does this have anything to do with a conductor plate?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 6 лет назад
The conductor plate is a common failure point that can cause that code. I have seen it set that code before so its a possible starting point for sure. Check for debris while you have the pan off.
@renecortez3371
@renecortez3371 6 лет назад
So you recomend me just changing the conductor plate? & debris is gasket?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 6 лет назад
I recommend having it diagnosed first if possible or you can start with the conductor plate. When I speak of debris....I mean look in the pan to see if there is anything in the bottom other then fluid....like small pieces or metal or clutch material.....this could mean internal failure of the clutches or hard metal parts which mean trans overhaul or replacement needed. Other wise conductor plate.....filter.....pan gasket....and fluid.

Question I replaced speed sensor on my jeep commander 06 nag transmission vehicle started fine shifted fine two days later won't start I know there symptoms for transmission no crank no start could be that I have defective part
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
There is always a chance that it could be defective especially if not a Mopar replacement. It would require looking at the data and seeing what the gear position is. That way we know its in park so that it will allow the engine to crank. Try shifting to neutral as well to see if any change?
@chubby111114life
@chubby111114life 7 лет назад
MotorCity Mechanic Im going to look at that thanks because the only reason I replaced it I was getting codes for the speed sensor I looked at the pids it was reading bad

MotorCity Mechanic I didn't find anything I scan it and look at the shifter position using the scanner it show normal I disconnected harnesses from the transmission vehicle starts when u installed the harnesses the vehicle don't start the speed sensor is OE
@MotorCityMechanic

The sensor should be part of the plastic overlay on the valve body. I am wondering if you could just unplug the connector at the trans and plug in the old plastic overlay and see if it at least starts.

If i dont have warning lights on dash, what symptoms tells you that this is bad or going bad?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
The NAG trans will usually set codes when ever there is an issue. Valve body replacements or repairs have a code that leads me in that direction.
@7UpYors

The problem im having is, my RPM seem to get stuck around 1,500 when i let go of gas pedal. I have no codes, no warning lights on dash. My dealership is tryna tell me i might need a valve body. That a valve or solenoid could be sticking. Sounds like they are guessing. Im not about to spend $450 on a valve body if i dont need it.
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
M Escobar I wonder if it's more engine then trans. Mainly being that the RPMs are high as you mentioned. Is it possible a valve body.....possibly. I still feel some further checking is needed to be certain

M Escobar - I'd try cleaning the throttle body good first also.

The cleaning is simple enough and certainly no harm in trying it.

can i swap out the nag1 for the 8 speed transmission ?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 7 лет назад
It would take alot from wiring, trans, tcm, shifter, etc. I dont know if its possible.....havent heard of anyone doing that swap as of yet.

I would just buy a built transmission or build the stock one. Cheaper route.

Excuse me I have a 2010 Dodge Charger, could anybody tell me where the shift Selenoid is located, and If I replace the selenoid will I need an oil change as well?
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 5 лет назад
The electronics of the trans (speed sensor/solenoids) are inside the trans and the valve body has to be removed to get access to it. That means filter and fluid change at the same time.

Idk if any body will see my comment but I really need help I just don’t wanna buy parts like crazy I have two codes that came up I have 2008 dodge magnum I have this codes showing P2784 input/turbine speed sensor A/B correlation P0717 turbine/input shaft speed sensor circuit no signal Some one told me is the Transmission conductor connector Please help
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 5 лет назад
The conductor plate is the most common cause for these codes. I recommend dropping the pan and making sure this no debris in the pan. Any debris could point towards an internal trans issue. If okay then the conductor plate would be the item I would try. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.

Hello, I need to remove my whole NAG1 transmission from my ‘13 SRT 300. Is the best/only way to remove all the oil is opening the Valve body cover? Any advice / tips removing the trans would be great. Thank you.
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 6 лет назад
Its hard to go into detail about the trans removal here in the comments but the removal isnt that hard. No need to touch the exhaust...there is plenty of room to remove the trans and as far as the driveshaft.....just take it loose at the trans and keep it in place, once again enough room to remove the trans. As far as the fluid removal....if you have an air operated fluid sucker you can remove it thru the dipstick tube....if not then removing the 6 trans pan bolts will let you take the pan off easily and then drain it that way. Thanks for the question and make sure to subscribe
@duanebonney
@duanebonney 6 лет назад
MotorCity Mechanic thanks so much for your reply. How about the Torque converter? Does it need draining? The whole thing is getting shipped to be rebuilt.
@MotorCityMechanic
@MotorCityMechanic 6 лет назад
Its going to depend on what the rebuilder recommends.....typically you would leave the torque converter mounted to the trans and not need to drain. But if you do need to you can take it off.....turn it upside down and place it at an angle....it will take some time to drain.
