Predator Earth Auger from Harbor Freight was worth every penny. $200 on sale. To rent an auger is nearly $100/day!
We used the post hole auger to install 550' of deer fence and learned a few things along the way.
Harbor Freight (Predator) gas powered auger is a one man auger. Use 50:1 oil mix with ethanol-free gas. This auger starts every time NO problem.

You dont have to go that deep. Its deer fence. If its 8' tall you can go 24" in the ground and be good.

I hear you but don't forget the poles I'm using r 11' long :). The pole I got r 8' above ground & 3' underground. 2 ' probably does work in hard / compact soil -- I hear you.

I am using mine now. I am having a problem attaching extension. Was there some trick to it? I can’t get the “male “ part of the extension into the “female” part of the auger

Adapter “male”part came with a cover we took the cover off. It fit but it was kind of loose. Is that how it’s supposed to be.? We got the job done. We would have never been able to dig the 3 foot hole without the auger. Now I am ready to dig more holes. PS. I could not have used the auger by myself. Too heavy. I watch your video about making holes for trees. I plan on planting a fairly large tree this fall. I will be using this thing. Thanks for the videos.

@heppylifestyle good news. my husband went back to harbor freight, explained the extender didn’t fit, talked to manager. Manager gave home another one (even though he bought it last year, this was our first time using it). This one fits on correctly. I had to come back and tell you the happy ending.
