This was a great comparison video. One feature I would have liked to have seen tested, though, was how much the various adhesives wrinkled paper. Thanks for doing this!
Great point! I did a Part 2 all about glue and cardstock. You can check it out here, Peter. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r-wMLKJLWv8.html
I really enjoyed this video. So very helpful for crafters. Several issues I find with glue that you could test for are 1. If it warps the cardstock. 2. If it warps thiner pretty papers 3. If it warps the vellum. 4. The easiest way to figure cost is to take the price ÷ the number of ounces. Then you can use per 1 oz price on your list. 5. The glue that dried clear with white spots wasn't completely dry yet.
My go to paper glue is Art Glitter Glue but I do use Tacky Glue for other projects. Art Glitter glue has never failed me in any of my crafting needs. Thank you so much for your time to sort through the sticky situations of all the glues out there.
Art Glitter Glue lover!! I used Tombow for the first time this weekend at Pinners CA and found the bottle difficult to squeeze the glue out of. Thanks for this glue review Mary! 😘✨👍🏾
I really was impressed with the art glitter glue and can't wait to use it on upcoming projects. I like the tombow too; but yes as it gets low, it is hard to come out!
I think I noticed that MayMay keeps some kind of glue stored upside down in a container. Makes sense, as that way the glue is ready to come out when needed and also has less chance to suck air up into the bottle, possibly drying out the contents. Guess it would have to be at least somewhat viscous, though, so it didn't ooze out immediately upon opening and baptize your project before you were ready to apply it. @@marypolancodesigns
Hi Mary, I work for Amazon and I really have to say Ranger multi matte medium and the collage matte medium are the to top sellers I send through so many times daily, as a crafter mmm and glossy accents, top notch!
Tammi, thank you so much for this; great to know! I do LOVE the MMM for strong hold, but I can only use it from it's original bottle, can seem to get a precision tip to work on it. Any tips?
I really appreciated your reviews of all the different glues. It will save me from picking a glue that'll end up failing. I've used Aileen's Tacky Glue for decades and will probably stick with it after watching your video. Thank you!
I was in search of a good glue because they always end up clogged and its so frustrating. I finally gave in and got the Art Glitter glue and I am so glad I did. My search is over! 😅 Art Glitter glue is ❤️❤️❤️! Thanks for this great review Mary!
I have used several of the glues you listed but like Art Glitter Glue the best out of all that I have tried. Thanks for taking the time to do this review.
Oh I'm SO happy this helped; I was hoping our new card makers would see it because it can be SO overwhelming and the 0.5 oz bottles are just way too expensive for how much you are getting.
Very informative....... Thank you A number of the glues I use clog so I have to clean the tip out after each use and I put a piece of plastic wrap at the bottle opening before I screw lid on.
Vaye, great tip thank you for that! I forgot to mention more about clogging in the video. My Nuvo doesn't clog but it does get gluey at the tip all the time.
Hi Vaye, I slam down my glue bottles every time when I put them away or even if I'm done using them for the moment. It's my way of keeping the tips clear of glue, and so far (cross my fingers!), no clogs :)
Nuvo, Tombow, and Art Glitter glue with the fine tip added......are my favorite glues. They perform so well. Once you glue on something with these glues they are are for life!!👍🏻 Thanks for your review of all of these glues. Well done!!❤️
So glad you did this glue comparison, I’ve often wondered about the Elmer products as they’re everywhere. I use Aleenes since I like it’s bonding ability. I would like to get some Nuvo, with a precise soon tip.
Thank you, Mary. This has been a much needed video for me. There are so many glues out there in such a range of prices and I've been wondering if the more expensive glues are truly worth the price. You have certainly answered that question!
Love my tombo and art glitter glue. The art glitter can't ship in winter so I buy extra and keep tombo on my table. Thank you for sharing the different glues and the info.
Thank you Mary. There are so many choices, for glue. I have to say that I usually wait for online companies to have % off sales or use a coupon. I do like using the Tombow glue but might look into the Art Glitter glue that others seem to like. This was very informative.
I'm so glad this was useful for you, Denise! THe Art glitter glue seems to be the most popular. It is the most expensive but you get a good amount. I really like it too!
Denise, I love the Art Glitter Glue, just keep in mind when ordering it, the outside temperature needs to be above 40 degrees, ( from where it is shipped, and also where you live) or your glue will arrive as a solid! I know because it happened to me. I learned the hard way :-(
I'm so glad this was helpful. I will be using the Aleene's in upcoming videos because I really want to see how it hold up more ways. I loved the Art Glitter Glue too.
I did use the tacky glue to bond to water color pieces together and loved it but will be trying it out more in the future. I liked the art glitter glue a lot! Thanks so much!
Thanks for a great comparison ...I agree with a lot of the comments on Art Glitter Glue...love it..and I always have Tombo in my stash...I think I have tried most of them over the years.
thanks so much for the video! my go to for years has been the green tombow...but have been very curious about some of the others! The surprise for me was the Dollar Store one!
Hey Cheryl! I have been a long time Tombow Green one for so long; only switched to Nuvo when they were so cheap (under $3 a bottle) but since they raised the price I am going to be using some from this video.
Super INFORMATIVE, I'm pretty new to card making and often wondered what the differences in the glues really are ...now I KNOW !! Definitely keeping this video for reference - thanks Mary !!!
An awesome testing. I USeD aileens and have for years love it. More recent I'd used glossy accents and tombo And liked them also. Been crafting over.20 Years .used aileens for least 10 to 12 yrs. Love it.
You are most welcome, Linda! It is my pleasure. Yes I agree, you don't want to even pay the cheapest price if it's not going to hold. Thanks for the comment!
Great job Mary. Im a new subbie and I really enjoy your honesty in your reviews. I like the fact that your show how you review and compare. Also, you are very funny...
Aww, Janet, you just made my night; thank you for that! YAY! So glad you are finding them helpful (and entertaining). I like to have fun. But I really like an honest review because I feel like there are so many places that you can get a sponsored review. I do both but am clear about which is which. :) Thanks again for your sweet words!
Thanks for doing this glue review. I love side-by-side product comparisons. It was honestly surprising to see how well most of them did on the holding phase. A couple of years ago I did a paper-to-paper comparison (for my own purposes) of the glues that I had in my stash. I used the same papers for each test. The results were surprising. Some glues dried smooth, some lumpy, some did not hold (glue stick), and some of them made the paper warp. Thanks for all of the information on your testing. It was very helpful!
Terri, thank you so much for this. I am going to do a follow up video using cardstock to see how they hold up; that will be really good to know right? for cardmakers, that is kind of key, my fault! Lol
I have only used a few and have had great luck so far on any of them. I agree with prices and bonding power. I mean that's the whole purpose for the most part so. You have helped s great deal though with what to buy and for its purpose and price. I love your humor. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I've used just about every one of these glues. I kept going back to Art Glitter Glue. I miscalculated as well as forgot to reorder it and decided to try Bearly Art Glue. When I finish the last of Art Glitter, Bearly will step in and will let you know if I like it or not! TYFS!! 💖💖💖🌹🤓
Thanks for your video! It took you a lot of time and cost of your glues to do this comparison. I am an Art Glitter glue user most of the time....for super fine lines I use Lineco Ph Neutral glue that I buy from Amazon. It is currently $8.19 for 8oz and I use it in micro tip bottles....I purchased this over 2 yrs ago and still have over half the bottle left...it is an amazing glue! I also like Nuvo glue and that comes out super nice straight from the bottle it comes in. Tombow multi I use for the tackiness on the back of red rubber stamps to stick better to clear blocks (of course let it dry completely before putting it on a block). Thanks again for your time
Cheri, I'm going to check out your recommended glue, thank you! I use my tombow for that as well. I unmounted my wood blocks and that's how I get them to stick to the stamp positioner. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Mary Polanco I have been converting my wood block stamps too. As much as I do love the wood blocks I find they take up way too much space....that and with the new tools (MISTI and Stamparatus) the stamps need to be cling. Now I am on the hunt for an economical case to switch stamp sets to after removing from the blocks...lol
This is an awesome comparison. It was very interesting to see which glues dried matte and which ones didn’t even advertise that feature. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. 😊
Ahhh! You must have read my mind!!! I’ve watched an embarrassing number of glue videos over the past two weeks to try and narrow down my choices. Thank you so much for making this-it’s been phenomenally helpful!! 😁
Fantastic review Mary! Like u mention there are a couple of flies that may suite our needs. I am a stroke survivor so I have hand issues having said that one may assume the small bottles are easier for persons like myself. It is normally quit the opposite. In our stroke therapy group we too have tried several adhesive products that work for us. Mainly the bigger bottles that are soft To squeeze win out and despite the price Aleena’s has always been a solid go to brand! I have personally tried others and I still like Alene’s and a couple other go to’ for different reasons. Thank u Mary!!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I had to send back the Lawn Fawn bottles because 2 out of 3 of them were bad and didn't dispense glue. Amazon refunded me and Lawn Fawn was willing to send me more although I declined. The ease of squeeze SHOULD be an important attribute; who wants to fight with their glue bottle!
Love this, thank you. I want to start making cards for one of the groups to send to military members. They recommend glue because of the heat and dryness of where the cards are going. I usually use tape runners so I am glad I saw this before going out and buying glues.
Great video. Thought Tombow was the no.1-but the tacky glue size is more appealing just because of the size and you are not tossing umpteen small bottles/tubes away. Very helpful. Thankyou.
Thank you for doing all this hard work for us. I’d been wondering about trying some different glues and now you’ve done it for me. Now I’m off to watch Part 2. Thanks again!
Thanks for all the research. I had to wait until I had the time to watch the full video, and I’m glad I did. There are so many choices, and I am happy to know (once again) that the higher price doesn’t always mean the best product!
For the Art Glitter Glue...to attach the fine tip, all you do is put the fine tip on top of the normal black tip and screw down. It will make grooves on the black tip and hold on to it. You don't have to remove that tip even if you get a new bottle. Just take the entire section (black tip and fine tip) off the old one and put it on the new glue bottle. Also, make sure you use the pin that comes with it or a pin that is stainless steel. If not, it will get rusty inside the glue. You really don't want that. Hope that helps.
I absolutely loathe the fine tip. I put it on and it fell off. I go find youtube and follow instruction to twist and it falls off. Put Art Glitter glue in closet and throw tip away. I saw lots of reviews about the glue. I wish it worked. I hate to waste money.
Great information and demo. I have to agree with Peter. I'd like to see how these glues react on paper. I find that some glues tend to wrinkle my paper/card stock. You have definably given me some alternatives that I will be trying out. Thanks so much.
Great video, Mary, thank you for doing this! I've been wanting a comparison video - there are so many new glues and it gets overwhelming after a while! My two go-to's are Art Glitter Glue and Tombo Mono Multi. I picked up the Nuvo glue but haven't tried it yet. If I had to choose one favourite, it is the Art Glitter Glue - it has never failed me and it even works when adhering something to glitter paper. I'm really enjoying your channel!
This was so helpful thank you so much! I am so glad that it was helpful. I totally agree on the overwhelming aspect with all the new glues. I really am impressed with the art glitter glue I can't wait to use it more. The Nuvo is good; I use it all the time.
Thank you for sharing this. Very informative information. My fav is the art glitter glue because of the precision tip and fast drying. It also makes your papers stiffer for sturdier projects especially when layering. A little goes a long way. I do many of the different glues so thanks again for doing this comparison. Have a wonderful day.😊
I use beacon glues, art glitter glue and tear tape the most. FYI Alene’s can sometimes be found at Dollar Tree. Fabric tac is another all purpose great glue.
Oh man! What a great, informative video! Loved every minute of this review. Will be hanging on to all this info. Gonna have to get me some of that Art Glitter Glue.
I have found that Art Glitter Glue works well and lasts a LONG time. In the fall, i bought a small bottle with the precision tip to try. I made at least 75 multi-layer holiday and new year's cards with it and have used maybe an eighth of a 2 ounce bottle. Even though it's not cheap, it's less expensive than dry/snail adhesive. I also like the Multi Medium Matte, but it's hard to get precision with the tip on the small bottle and the (purchased) precision tip makes the bottle too hard to squeeze. I end up using it out of the jar with a toothpick.
Lara, awesome tips and input; thank you for that! I am really impressed with the Art glitter glue for sure, I will be using that in the future. I am also going to be switching between all these cool glues to see how they do on my card projects!
@@carolpope1145 i love the art glitter glue and i like the precision tip and i like the glue itself for most projects but i find when i am making cards i need a glue with a little give in the beginning because to me it dries super quick and do not have time to adjusts the two pieces glue and if you dont put them together precisely then you can not try and move it because it is already dry...
I haven’t found the Aleen’s glue but just got the art glitter glue with precision tip on amazon to try. Every thing else I have tried the top clogs or it comes out in a lump. This was very helpful. Thank you.
what a useful comparison, thank you for taking the time to do it. I have had the art glitter glue, a large refill, and the tip on my wish list for a while now. I think I will now go ahead with the purchase. I agree with some of the others, I really like the multi matte medium but it can get REALLY hard to squeeze
Hi Carolyn...I have a follow up video coming later today so be on the lookout. But you are safe to by the glitter glue, it's amazing! And I help to prove that in this upcoming video. I learned so much about glue! YAY
Thanks so much!! You did a great job showing the differences . I use lots of different glues also....depending on the need and amount needed. Do love the art Glitter...! Thanks again
Thank you for taking the time to do this test! I have wasted a lot of money trying to find the “right “ adhesive. Very helpful video. Love the Gina K glue but so little for so much $$
Thank you so much, Stella. I'm so glad it was helpful and useful! I agree with you on the smaller tubes of glue. I think we can find something a little more efficient!
Okay I truly love how you explained, that the glue can change prices. That a person should look for the best prices. I'm a bargain hunter. Many people don't realize, it is our way of speaking out gently/respectfully to do so. We are the consumer/Customer. This is what we are looking for. 😊
I water down y Aleene's tacky glue for certain applications and it still sticks very well. You can also use the Tombow to make glue dots. Thank you for your thorough video.
Yes, you can make your own homemade glue dots with the Tombow M. M. Or, you can use Aleene's Tack It Over and Over glue or The Best Glue Ever to make homemade glue dots. So easy and super cheap plus you can customize the sizes to match your projects. Thanks so much for this comparison video.
Thanks for doing this video I have been wondering about the different glues so you answered some of my questions . So thank you for that . The only one I didn't see that I have been wondering about is Fabritack. Well that is what they call it . Not sure why I see so many people use it for everything. Thank you again very informative .
Perfect timing for this video! I’ve been trying to figure out a more cost saving alternative than dry adhesive tapes. Never thought to use Aleene’s from years ago...time to go back to the basics.
Thanks for such an in depth review. I have been disappointed with glossy accents as a glue because it clogs. Now I have some other options to choose from.
Oh good, I am so glad this was useful, Kimberly! I never use glossy accents for anything but a glossy accent. lol But I know that a lot of people do. Come to think of it, yes it does clog up. hmmm not good
I have recently purchased the syringes from Koren and am very pleased. For some reason I am "fine tip challenged". I have tried several tips with no luck. Thanks for doing this comparison.
Thank you so much, Lonya! I'm so glad it was helpful and I too, have been fine-tip challenged in the past. lol I'm so glad the syringes are working out for you!
I never liked fine tipped applicators either until I tried the Imagine On Point Glue. It’s my favorite for applying jewels, sequins, etc. because I can get such a small amount! This is such a fantastic video!!! Thank you for sharing!!! 💜
I use Art Glitter Glue and Nuvo for all my liquid glue needs, with one caveat: I use MMM for any heavy metal embellishments. A lot of people use Glossy Accents for those, but I like Ranger’s adhesive because it has a teeny bit of flexibility (if you’ve ever done book binding, you know how important a strong yet flexible glue is), and also because MMM contracts as it dries, meaning that it’s not going to be as obvious if a little oozes out. I’ve been curious about Aileen’s, as I like their fabric glue for tacking prior to sewing. It’s super flexible and holds well.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. You answered many of the questions I've had about some of these products. I am wondering about the tip you didn't get on the art glitter glue. Was it easy to figure out later?
Yes it was, the way that I did it in the video was correct and I felt that it was super fine when used; a great feature. I would recommend this glue for sure.
Thank you for your time putting this out there. I would love to see a comparison between the top ones as to how they work gluing paper to paper. Does the paper warp? How strong is the bond? How much time before you can’t adjust without ripping? The tacky glue surprised me, but I am not sure how it would perform paper to paper. It’s why I like my Art Glitter Glue- it bonds quickly with a tiny amount of glue. The extra fine tip prevents waste. Thanks again!
Art Glitter Glue is the BEST!!!!!!🥇🏆🏅 I have been using it for 23 YEARS!!!! It holds up Perfectly over Time! The Ultra Fine Metal Tip is a Must Have! I would LOVE to have that bottle if you’re giving it up!😍
Dawn, with all the love and respect I have for you . No WAY I'm giving that baby up. It's my new fave. Yay. Hahha I never even heard of it until recently. so glad I did this review
Thank you so much! I feel that none of these glues would be invisible BUT I do know of some videos out there that show you techniques on how to make it minimally visible. For example, one crafter showed using a sponge to apply glue all over the back of the vellum, as well as stick it sheets to cover the whole thing. But thank you so much for the idea. :)
Elmer's Glue All and Aleene's Tacky Glue are my two faves. I make cardboard structures and use diluted PVA glues in large quantities as paper mache/decoupage medium, so these are the best to buy in bulk and that work best on kraft paper. Wood glue also works very well on paper, but is not cost effective.
Another ArtGlitter glue lover here!!! I originally purchasedthis glue for the stained glass technique using acetate and loose glitter. Wow! It holds clear and strong, dries fairly fast, and I use it almost exclusively now. I taught card classes for years and have tried everything! I get the 8 oz. bottle and transfer into a small fine tip bottle and it lasts forever!
Yay!!!! My 2 favs made the list. Now you know why I use glue all and Aleenes: 1. I'm cheap and 2. They work. The other Elmer's don't stand the test of time. Aleenes is a great PVA bookbinding glue as well.
Thanks again for the info! I went out and bought a couple of your top rated glue brands to try and they were great! It was nice to not have to stand in the aisle totally confused!!!
Hi Mary, thx for a very thorough review of glues. I mostly use snail for adhering, as I've not had good results with liquid glue in the past, i.e. was too generous and got ripples, etc. I guess somewhere between that and sparingly is the key. May give Aleene's a try, as it looks like Glitter Glue is the Rolls Royce of glues $$$. Have a great week🌼
Hi Jean! Thank you so much for your comment! I use snail a lot too but I do love the wiggle room with the liquid. Yes the glitter glue is pricey; seems like it will last a long time and it does sell a refill so that's helpful too. I think the Aleene's is the best for the price for sure. That and the Elmers Glue All seemed legit!
So informative! Thank you. I'd love to see an update in six months to see how the glues have held up and the supplies get lower. Also, sometimes you can snag the Nuvo at The Scrapbook Expo for a good deal if you buy multiples.
Thanks for the glue review. I like the green tombow glue and the tonic glue. I use glossy accents for embellishments only. I would be interested in a paper warps test.
Thanks for doing this! I’ve always wanted to try the Art Glitter glue. Ive heard a lot of good things about it. Right now I just use the Alene’s tacky glue and now I may continue to do so.
Tracy, I'm so glad that this was helpful. Part 2 has me using them on cardstock and spoiler alert, Art Glitter Glue is just as good. lol Thanks so much!
I use the art glitter glue because it dries fast! I use multi medium matte for jewels and sequins. I use tombow mono multi for repositioning. I have glossy accents too, but only use it to make things glossy. Thanks for this great review!
Great review! Tombow has been a long time fav Like you loved the Nuevo but not interested in spending that much for glue. Really liking the GinaK but think I will now switch to my Aileen’s which is about 4 years old and still works! And use the other 2 for speciality. This is not an area we should overspend for brand imo! Thanks again!
I agree with you, thanks for the input! I am guilty of getting caught up in the brand name stuff from craft suppliers and it's not that I need to have the latest and greatest it's because I, without hesitation, trust their stuff so know it will work well. But we still have to be good stewards of our wallets. Thanks again!
@@LovinglfDesigns i like it too but i need a precision tip so looking for a precision one to put on my bottle But i did have the clear and it is to thick to use a precison tip but i need those...
That was a great show thank you so much I do love you taking your time to show us all these great glues with prices sizes and how they hold up thank you again have a great day God bless
I put some Aleenes tacky glue in a small squeeze precision tip bottle and I love it! Sometimes I have to clear it out with a pin but for the sheer savings I can do that! Thanks for the great comparison!
Thank you! I use Tombow green the most. Of course Glossy Accents. I did buy an Art Glitter Glue and haven't opened it. Have others that you didn't use. Good video.
Thank you ( a little belatedly) for doing this! Natasha Foote swears by the multi medium matte as it doesn't dry shiny if it squeezes out. She puts it in a smaller container and says it never clogs. I like it because it doesn't show.
Thanks so much for taking the time to test these, Mary! I really like Aleene's Tacky Glue. However, I have trouble with the bottles cracking--- :( Has happened with several of them----
I have used Aleenes for many years, but tried Art Glitter Glue lately, found them to do a similar job, so it would be a price point decision between those 2 for me. TFS a well presented review.
Thanks so much for sharing this! My follow up video is coming today showing them on cardstock. I'm glad I split them up into 2 videos; so much to talk about!
Great comparison. I use the glue all and love it) but have found that my googly eyes don't stick through the mail. I was also surprised how well the dollar store glue did -- Thanks!!
Judith, thank you so much for this! Part II is up if you want to see how they did on cardstock; got a bit of a different result for the dollar tree glue...lol I'm so glad it was helpful and thanks for sharing about the Glue All!
