There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
Johnny Depp and Hunter had some beautiful moments. Hunter loved him so much and Johnny had so much respect for him . Memory of Hunter is imprinted in the heart of Johnny. Beautiful friendship. 🙏🙏🙏
“There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.” -Thompson
There’s a group of 3 brother I work with and I tell everyone that’s never met them stories of them and always finish it with “too weird to live and too rare to die”
Quite the eternal character. Seeing Doonesbury and such growing up and then learning who Hunter was he filled a spot for an archetype. I swear he's up in heaven looking down saying "see? I made it! You ba$t@rds!"
That actually happens sometimes. Certain actors can actually be left with a part of their character long after they’ve played the. Maybe Depp could just never shake the voice he mastered for the film.
Bill Murray told Depp to make sure the role he did after Fear and Loathing was completely different, otherwise he’d still have Hunter inside of him. Murray apparently still had a part of Hunter in him a few roles after he made Where the Buffalo Roam.
I met Johnny, who was dressed as a security guard, in the back of a bookstore in San Francisco at a Hunter S Thompson books signing one time. Exchanged a few words about Hunter, and what I was doing there.... I didn't let on to the fact that I knew who he was. lol
I looked this up to see how well Johnny Depp portrayed his mannerisms. I used to think maybe the character in the movie was maybe embellished a little, but no the fear and loathing part was played awesomely, great movie for sure🤚🏻👍
Johnny Depp is very blessed to be the recipient of such a wonderful gift in his friendship with Hunter. Just by holding up his end....playing his part, Johnny was able to embrace that opportunity to get such a singular and involved understanding of Hunters' works, inspirations and perspectives.
@@TraumaER do you know anything about Hunter S. Thompson? Perhaps if you did, you night appreciate it more. Then you factor in a brilliant performance by Benicio Del Toro, and it just adds to an amazing film. I'm guessing you loved Pirates of the Caribbean. Or Edward Scissorhands perhaps? That's fine too. We're not all supposed to enjoy the same things. Cheers
@@SF_Native No I don't know anything about him. What did he do that was so groundbreaking? As for Depp, he was way better in Donnie Brasco, Nightmare on Elm's Street, Platoon, Pirates (at least first 2), Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Blow, Secret Window, Finding Neverland, Charlie, Public Enemies, and Black Mass. It appears this movie is only considered 'good' because it is 'cool' to admire drug users and drug movies.
@@TraumaER lol. If you wanna learn about him, use google. If you still don't like this movie all good. Perhaps it's a generational issue. I think all those movies you listed were also great. Have a nice day.
I think JD takes on what ever form he is attracted to. Even his accent changes all the time and his personality through the years has changed. That is why he is an amazing actor. He is basically a pure living method actor
@@B2svn465 Everyone is a little psychopathic? Must suck to be you if those are the only people you're exposed to and leads you to believe we all are "a little bit psychopathic". Plenty of good people out there are not.
@@moncorp1 it doesn't suck at all. Its quite colourful and plenty of people who are good are a little crazy. If you think u don't have any crazy in you then your probably more insane than most. Wishing you well :)
Johnny and Hunter, two rare precious gems. 💎 I wish Hunter was alive today to be by Johnny side for his case against Amber Turd, Hunter could atleast bring Johnny so laughter. Keep watch over Johnnys heart, Hunter. He needs you and may your spirit be with him. 🙏🏻
A mentor and guiding influence in the art of persuasion and anarchy. It appears HST is like a big brother to JD and allows him to explore a part of himself that will live past the moment.
I'm from Europe and one Day i find a Book of his Life and his best Body Jack Nicklson Amazing Meetings in Woods.Respekt to the Last Rebel Hunter S.Thompson
@@sonjavandam1306 one of my favorite movies but I'm heavy on kind of weird and nonsense movies, so I can see why many people don't really dig with it lol
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... and also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of Budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon. My name.... Is Raoul Duke and I realize that my name is not on that list but we must have a suite What's the score? What next This man suffers from a bad heart Miss you, hunter. I can call you all day your words are golden Name Rank Press affiliation nothing more: We are all wired into a survival trip now
Is he? We don't see whether he hits anything, the gun recoils a LOT and his eyesight apparentely isn't very good (he's always been nearly blind in one eye and wears glasses all the time nowadays)
@@negativeindustrial Which definition of apart were you thinking? Maybe “I was never apart of this duo” with a grammar correction of “a part” but the definition of apart is all over within what gunner was suggesting from what I perceived. Interested in your opinion 👋
@@negativeindustrial Wait, You mean I never was hanging out with either of them? Dang I thought I was? No I meant I get their vibe and am also very open minded when it comes to substances, guns, and well written and spoken grammar. Philosophy. Idk what your trying to get at, but that's not what I meant obviously. LMAO of course I was apart from them, never met either of these fine intellectual specimen in person.
@@SymmetrySmileandTile Dude it was clearly kind of a joke. Glad you see what I was trying to say. If I have to summarize my thoughts in one sentence? "I would have had way too good of a time hanging out with these gentlemen and its probably a good thing it never happened." I've read all the books, seen all the movies. It's just a vibe
The amount of people in these comments that think simply handling a pet bird is "animal abuse" is what's really disturbing. Same kinda vegans naive enough to try taking a selfie near a wild animal or force their cats on vegan diets call this "torture". Y'all would never survive society's collapse, smh.
BTW if you see a comment that has beyond 15 replies, you'll see them only take the time to read (or should I say twist and take out of context in most cases) the first few replies and troll them
Definitely has nothing to do with illuminati. For fuck sake. But yes Mr. Thompson was was tried and charged way back when. It's in the movie fear and loathing in las Vegas. That shit actually happend. If you're ever able to get your hands on the version with interviews and such you'll see and hear he was a twisted pervert that liked young girls. That being said he was a very talented artist. Jim Morrison was a drunk drug addict. Janis Joplin. Edgar Alan Poe was a drunk drug addict. Vincent Vango was a drunk physco. Beethoven was a drunk physco. Jesus was an alcoholic. All of the worlds greatest and most talented people are sick in one way or another. I dnt condone what hunter did in any way shape or form. I have 2 beautiful daughters of my own and would kill any man as well as the rest of their bloodline if they were to harm them. I'm just saying that all the things we've grown to love and cherish and is part of our life and culture came from the minds of a sick person.
Curious to as what hunter meant when he said said “ I didn’t ever see he was getting me.” Besides that if you never heard the story of the first time these two met and hung out all night it’s absolutely hilarious especially the way Johnny depp tells it he was undoubtedly one of a kind
Funny considering Thompson's main protest of the hippie movement was that they sold out their claimed principles for drugs. These guys believe in being productive artists and you can't deny that they are both great artists
@johnnydepp .... How 2 people 2 total different eras the stars - the universe and Hunter's Spirit Guide had crossed you two together in spirit that man is still walking besides you!!! You both have that *_IMF!!_*
He was probably an inspiration for Mr. Lehey, the actor that plays him doesn't even drink in real life so he ain't acting from his own personality, good actor though.
He specifically covered all the expenses to grant Hunter his last wish, which was to have his ashes shot from a cannon. The structure was ~150 feet and topped with a the double-thumbed fist clutching a peyote button. It cost him 3 million dollars lol. Quite the spectacle. I think the video footage is on youtube somewhere
Idolizing and worshipping a person you don't know is weird. It's like taking your imagination and desire for something you feel you lack and adding it to an idea or image that was manufactured by that person, the people around them and the media retelling exaggerated stories about what they did. Very little to none of it is real. Within it however there is a spirit and a symbol of something valuable that resonates. Pull that diamond out of the dung heap. Don't idolize Hunter. You're Hunter.
@Giovanni Velasquez If religion has any usefullness or meaning it's the two way street of getting to know the very deepest parts of ourselves. You on the other hand might take all your meaning in life only from a hollow shell of the physical.
@Giovanni VelasquezYes. I think you're right. As far as your earlier comment goes, it is like religion as people dogmatize and codify the teachings or examples of others. That is true.
It's important that all great males, Hemingway included, go out on their own terms. What many call weakness is a resolute strength. Otherwise, Amber Heard. Stop talking about male suicide like a weakness. It's all we have left.
