I am filled with mixed emotions.. Happy that my videos are reaching far and helping the people connect their childhood and their past.. Your father have helped many locals and their bond must be immense.. I will surely try to connect with the locals in the area u lived on my next visit once this Pandemic situation is under control.. @@NeenaParihar Thanks for your reply. I dream of returning someday and visiting. We first arrived in Gandoh over the Bash Dhar in 1960 with a train of 30 horses. Some for riding, many with our household and rest with medical supplies. It took us two days with a stopover in Jai. I also remember when a leopard jumped from the forest over the horse that my mom and me were riding. It was a long time. My mom though also working as a nurse with my dad had to settle to simple living from her life in Jammu with no electricity or running water but we made it home and made it comfortable. My dad was retired from the army and was 60 but that didn't stop him from visiting every village of the valley and bringing medical help to the people. He was very dedicated. No younger doctor agreed to be posted to Gandoh but my dad excepted the post. I still remember all the patients who used to come with bear attacks during the harvest season. Yes in those days bears used to come down to the fields around Gandoh. As a child many locals took care of me that included the Hindu families and the Gujjars. I can never forget Shera the Gujjar who was so kind to me and Dayaram who always took me to his fields when I was unhappy. My older brothers were sent to boarding schools in Punjab but I stayed there for the entire time. The foundations and lessons I got there were the best. It made me a successful teacher and a mountaineer with skills learned from the local village children. I am so glad to be in touch with some one from this valley. Please pass on my best wishes to your parents and I hope they may have heard about our family being part of the fabric of Gandoh in its simpler days. In memory of "Bhale Loke of Gandoh"
