Question: I did not slope my sill in framing so will need to add a beveled piece like you did here. I measured my rough openings and the window manufacturer is only allowing a 1/2" tolerance for the entire window. Should I increase my rough opening window size (say another 1/4 to 1/2) if the shims/sill plate angle is being added after?
The piece of flashing at the header should have been applied after the window and header flashing was installed to prevent reverse flashing. Also, the horizontal seams that die into the window should be wrapped 1" into the window opening.
That is seam flashing all over the wall. I think lapping it or cutting it is pointless. You are depending on Zip tape for this flashing system, so none of the weatherproof plane is really lapped over the head flashing. There is tape all over the wall that does not lap that head flashing and that one piece of seam tape should be left. If you don't trust the Zip tape, add some other WRB over all of it.
Hey question for you. If you liquid flash do you install the window while the liquid flash is wet or do you let the liquid flash dry first and then install the window?
i DONT get these guys showing are trade on youtube ,ive been a carpenter for the past 12 years ,i look around my area and seems like everone is a carpenter ... hey im not saying this is a bad thing im saying its a trade ,protect are trade , if you havent gone to a trade school or apprentice program ,you shouldnt be installing windows or building and watching youtube thinking you can do this stuff , i understande the need to cut cost of a home owner ,i own a home and it gets expensive ... just my thought a trade is a skill you build with time and hard work not just buy watching youtube
And do you see the carpenters all over doing this? I think a lot of presenters are trying to train other builders. Where do you live that all the builders have gone to trade school? I don't think they are that common. I let tradesmen work on my house, sometimes I regret it, and sometimes I redo stuff --the doable stuff like redoing the door hanging and trim--because it is so bad.
