Last summer in 2023, my family from Japan came to Croatia for the first time for my wedding. They had just met my wife's family for the first time the day before the ceremony but quickly warmed up to each other, and we all had a wonderful time with my wife's relatives, my friends, and the people from the village where my wife and I live. The ceremony was held at the Cathedral of St. James in Šibenik, a World Heritage Site, and we were joined by about 150 people from all over the world, including Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa, and the Australian continent. Croatian wedding culture is said to be the best in the world, especially weddings in the Dalmatian region, which are truly grand events. Unlike in Japan, a wedding here feels like an all-day affair, lasting from the afternoon into the late night. While this is a personal account of my wedding, I hope you enjoy learning about Croatian wedding culture as a unique and extraordinary experience that you wouldn't find in Japan!
