This is part 1 in the series of training Alice a red tailed hawk for falconry. This video is mainly for nonfalconers that have an interest in falconry and to answer common questions they may have.. In the U.S. beginning (apprentice) falconers have a sponsor. Apprentice falconers should follow the advice of their sponsor. Other parts of this series will follow soon.

The hood is to keep a newly trapped hawk calm until they tame down, but they never really get like a pet.

How do you make traps for the bird legs so they don't get bit by squirrels
@falconfather69
@falconfather69 3 года назад
The anklets cover most of the leg but they occassionally do get bitten. Most of the time the bites are minor.

HI THERE MY FRIEND,AWESOME IM GOING TO FOLLOW ALL YOUR VIDEO ALL THE WAY,CAUSE I MIGHT START DOIN THIS SPORT.WHAT IS THE ACTUAL SIZE HOOD FOR JUVENILE RED TAILED HAWK?THANK YOU........
@falconfather69
@falconfather69 3 года назад
A juvenile is at full size when trapped. The hoods are sized for males and females as the females are larger than the males. I think a female red tail wears a size 14.
