@@rolandscales9380 Caps or hats worn indoors; unusual, they were doffed as a mark of respect. In church men had to doff their hats. Women had to keep their heads covered in Church. Lovely gathering; better than any public venue. Business took all this away and commercialized it; destroying community.

A long drawn-out ballad was called a Come-all-ye and that was the opening line: Come all ye lads and lassies………

As Thomas Wolfe said: You can’t go home again. Now it is all technology and world travel even for those in the wilds of the countryside, as well as classy public venues for socializing. All changed; utterly changed.
