Thank you so much for this. I've bought a rather expensive wool fabric (42oz/yard british melton - 3 yards for $190) and I felt bad about sending it to a tailor who uses fusibles. I figured that it would make more sense to have him cut the pattern and do the canvasing myself. I think this fabric will be much more forgiving of errors. I absolutely cannot afford to get this custom tailored by someone who does horsehair canvasing.

I am new to sewing. Is the padding stitch like tacking stitches? At some point will the stitches be gotten rid of? I'm trying to understand the reason for sewing several fabrics together using this particular stitch.

Thanks for the lesson. if the thread runs out in the middle of the padding process, how do you lock the thread so it doesn't come loose ?

Hello. I would like to know why the pattern on the lapel facing is never matched to the pattern on the chest. In my mind it would only misalign the rest of the facing that you don't see anyway but I am really new to this.

Reza, awesome tutorial on the do's and don'ts with the padding stitch! I have a silly question, so I was practicing the pad stitch today and ran out of thread in the middle; is there a specific way to tie off the knot? And when I bring in the new thread, I'm assuming I should start at the point where I tied the previous knot?
