In my opinion, because Friesian Horses are generally very even tempered and trusting when handled with kindness and a relaxed handler, they seem to want to please their instructor more than rebel against what the are being asked to do. A quiet, relaxed atmosphere is very good for them.💕💕💕💕

I really like that you said training varies by Country. Because the way I was taught to train, is a bit different, but I also use a lot of similar ways that you do. And you shouldn't judge anyones means of training unless it hurts the horse and I love watching you train because it is so calm and you always have the horses best interest in mind. I love your channel.

Thank you for sharing - these backing videos are wonderful! I also follow a RU-vid channel from a woman in England who backs the horses she personally rides. She doesn’t use a surcingle with strings to teach them the correct head position - instead she has trained them to respond to the voice command “Head Down.” It’s very interesting because she talks to the horse while she’s riding, telling it what to do and it listens and responds immediately. One of the commands is “Foot,” which tells the horse to be careful of uneven, rocky ground where it could stumble or fall. You will be happy to hear that one of her horses is a Friesian.

@aprils6589
@aprils6589 Год назад
Friesians have a natural high arch to their neck. The strings are kept at a fixed length so their head is on the vertical and that shifts their weight to their back and hind quarters to build strength. When training under saddle starts, the reins are kept at a fixed length to continue strengthening the hind quarters. They only do this for a short time 2 or 3 times a week.

And second question when you lead why put the longe on 1 side of the bridle arent you afraid to pull the bridle through the mouth of the horse?
@mackenziebower4537

While I agree with you on the first point, as long as they aren't yanking/pulling super hard there is very little chance of pulling the bit or bridle through the mouth, and is fine as long as used gently

Because the Bones are still to weak to support a human on it . It's as if you take a child and force them to do stuff that is for adults. If you do it to soon it can cause harm to the horse. :) Also I'm sure it's not bad to just let them horses for a while before working/training them.

Do you turn the water in their stables off. Are the horses only allowed a limited amount of water daily. Every time I have watched the Videos, and when the horses have come back in they are very thirsty. I can never understand why. My horses in America had completely free access to water. I also lived in Florida in the USA. It does worry me however, that your beautiful horses maybe thirsty a lot of the time. Please tell me I am wrong? Jane

@barbll000
@barbll000 2 года назад
If anything, there's too much water in the Netherlands which is why you see the damns around all the fields which the horses can drink from freely when they're outside. In each stall is a water trough that releases fresh water when they put their muzzle into the bowl.

Saw u maybe going to train for harness or riding ,saw he was giving u trouble ,when they are young colt or filly I read where to blanket them gently with there knowledge of where u rub or put blanket an let it rest on withers or back just as a little weight an more as they get older an they somehow are; trained to have harness or saddle added later .I see here horse is very calm with it doing pretty great really.to get young colt to lead or load in trailer sometimes take lead rope an go behind the rump an run up to halter an use it to pull an lead with one lead rope . an they will pretty much be easier to Handel at first course u probably know this .I see u do the center an work in circle that is good exercise for them as well as working rt. An left leads of front legs .great way to exercised u need to put weight on if u buy one a little skinny .or work a mare to gain better weight after having baby.I always rode western an or bare back robe rains stuff miss those days . .

The trainer pets Eefge and Elbrich often for positive reinforcement; I've seen some horses slapped or smacked by dressage riders and rodeo cowboys. Does that hurt them? Or do horses have thick skin and don't feel it when someone is trying to get their attention?
@kybet1764
@kybet1764 4 года назад
Horses skin is 7 times more sensitive than human skin. I think by “smack” you mean pat, yes?? Like not hard and used as “positive” reinforcements? They rub for a bit and then pat? Regardless, you should never pat a horse, only pet. As I’ve said their skin is 7 times more sensitive and they cannot distinguish the difference between a “good” smack and a “bad” smack. To them it’s just hitting.
@iclynnx
@iclynnx 4 года назад
@@kybet1764 That's why I strongly discourage smacking with whips, and patting very hard on horses. I only pet, you know, draw my hand over their fur, and very gently pat sometimes. When others pat horses hard though I don't say anything because people apparently think I'm trying to act smarter than I am. I'm not self-righteous, I just want what's best for people and animals.

@@kybet1764 Absolutely. I cringe when I watch competitions and a horse does particularly well and the rider slaps the hell out of the poor horses neck. What is particularly insulting is that Grand Prix winners do it. Goes to show one that some people just use their horse for their own gain and do not have the sensitivity to kindly pet the horse instead of slapping
