Part-2 This would be a great science fair project. This influence machine was designed in the 1880's by James Wimshurst. It's an Electrostatic Generator that creates a healthy 7-inch spark. Potentially painful but USUALLY safe.

First time I've heard of fuming wood. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for watching! Fuming is a cool process but the ammonia is dangerous

Nicely done Mark, never seen that process for colouring wood before, dangerous but very interesting. It's coming on nicely, looking forward to the next installment. Cheers, Jon

Thanks! I found a diagram of the belt path on the internet. Most machines have a crossed belt to reverse one disc. This belt path is way better because it eliminates the belt wear and dust. I designed the machine using CAD which made pulley sizes and belt alignments much easier but then I had to turn the pulleys manually on a wood lathe. I ended up making them on my metal lathe but saw dust on the metal lathe is a pain. This lead to making my wood lathe made like a metal lathe and later converting it to CNC. The wood turning is easy now. Slowly but surely I am getting this design perfected and easier to make. Then I will mass produce them and get rich. I'M KIDDING! I'm just a retired nut having fun.

Great job there Winky. You look sort of like the proverbial mad scientist. When I worked in the evil polluting chemical plant we used ammonia for a refrigerant. We had some big Worthington compressors for the job. They had 16 inch diameter pistons on the power cylinders and I think 14 inch on the compressor side. The flywheel weighed about two tons on one of these. Wide open was near 350 rpm. They were two cycle and ran on natural gas. I could tell you some ammonia stories including large clouds from leaks and general irritation of sweaty body parts from small leaks. We had oilers that ran on crankshaft power and were basically little pumps in a container of oil. This was fortunately located between the compressor cylinders so you had to put on a gas mask to go in an fill them and make sure they were pumping. Most of the time there were tiny leaks and the sweaty parts would sometimes feel like they were on fire while you filled the lubricators with oil. It did not take me long to fill one.

Yes I am mad... no wait, just a little crazy. That would be scary to work around.

I love this process. I just put the oil finish on it today... that really makes it look great. Honestly, if you wanted you could rough cut everything, fume the wood and then sand everything after fuming. Its very deep.

Hi Mark, great videos, are there plans available? if so how to get them Peter K
@WinkysWorkshop
@WinkysWorkshop 2 года назад
They will be available. I'll be posting part 3 today and hopefully there will be link for the plans when I post the final video (part 4). I'm still drawing plans. The plans will include a parts list and where to buy them and I'm also working on putting together a hardware kit. I've bought a lot of the parts in bulk to reduce cost and I should be able to offer the parts a little cheaper than if you bought the parts and paid postage on a bunch of smaller orders.

hi there what degrees are each segment ? there are 28 on each disc so are they about 12.86 degrees ? plus on the uprights on your drawings what length is the routed holes for the disc rods ? are they just over an inch as the bolt hole for the equaliser connector bolt is 1 inch from the top love the videos watched them numerous times all the best from uk
@WinkysWorkshop
@WinkysWorkshop 2 года назад
Yes, 28 sectors. There is a template for both the sectors and upright in the link to the plans. The length of the slot for the disk axel is 1-inch from the top to center which is also the the location for the bolt. More importantly it is 12-inches from the bottom where the upright sits on the base frame. I sell a kit but shipping to the UK is super high. If you need sectors let me know... I can send them fairly cheap. winkysworkshop@GMX.com

Your welcome, thanks for watching. Lets see.... High school education, worked on and ran a web offset printing press for 25 years, took a job with the same company modifying machines (presses and stackers) in problem areas for 15 years before I retired. Basically did an engineers job for pressman pay.... but it certainly was a huge learning opportunity! I learned a lot about CAD, fabricating, engineering and machining.

Hi Mark. Where did you buy those brass fittings? Anything brass at my local hardware store is super expensive. Thanks.

Search for "Grand Brass Lamp Parts". Brass is high priced but this company has better prices than most.

Winky, have you ever made walnut stain from tobacco, or from the green hulls of the walnut using alcohol or ammonia?

Have you thought of useing different designed disks ? Have you thought of making a multi disk player ? 5 wimshurst machines with 5 different disks ? Combine all the energies into one ? Humans are very limited in thought ..
@WinkysWorkshop
@WinkysWorkshop 2 года назад
Are you an align? But seriously people have made multi disk machines. They are higher amperage but not voltage.
@saskoilersfan
@saskoilersfan 2 года назад
@@WinkysWorkshop so. You understand me . Each disk creates a different energy . When I play 5 different disks of energy. They form a rope of energy . Do you understand the concept of USS Enterprise.? It's a giant wimshurst engine machine. My one disk looks like a dream catcher. My one disk looks like an Incan calender. My one disk looks like a ferries wheel. The power of lightening The power of the sun. The power of electromagnetism. Amplified by tesla power tower . Plus I added the other disc player for harmonic frequencies... Twin disk and disc players of energy and sound... Records of energy and sound. So .. I have a kite made of aluminum. The string is copper windings like a radio. I have a key it's the Leyden jar. Used to trap lightening. Tesla failed to trap lightening. To store the energy. Wimshurst didn't... Even a disk to create heat. It's called free energy . No wires needed. Can be used on any planet . Any world . Ride the lightening to teleportation . Saves time traveling.

Well done Winky. Out of interest why are you making more of these wonderful machines. Are you hoping to sell kits ? By the way you have TWO PORNO LINKS below. You really need to either block them or preferably NOT ALLOW Links to be attached to any of your viewers comments. Regards from Australia.
