Why not? I still appreciate the fact we get new movies and this universe lives on. Even if I'm not fan of every production, even I hate how this new trilogy ends. I had a good memories with watching new SW movies in cinema and i waits for more.
They did use a lot of sets, and a lot of natural shots, but they did use a significant amount of CGI. Mordor, Moria, Lothlorien, the Oliphants (or however you spell them), Gollum, etc. As a matter of fact, they are some of my favorite movies. And they were also very practical with how they used the fx, like you said, with a mix of sets and CGI. Lucas did the same though for a lot of shots though. For example, for the Mustafar scenes, Lucas traveled to the location of an active volcano to shoot.
I hope Disney will bring Mark Hamil as luke, as well as find a way to brind Ewan Mcgregor as Obi-Wan to resurrect. Also bring Palpatine: he is the true important villain in this saga.
George, you may not remember me. I AM the one at the Alii At Kaanaplani. You told me once that the stories would continue. Well, you were right, they are being continued. You know I work at the Ritz. You have my number.
my second thought would be a Thrawn Trilogy but because Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher are substancully older than plausible for that. Though i heard they had expressed intrest in Ep VII so who knows? :D
Palpatine is dead, McGregor is too young, and Hamill is too old. Though I wish it weren't so, it is. BTW, why no mention of Ford as Solo or Fischer as Leia?
Anakin's story is closed, but that doesn't mean they can't follow the skywalker bloodline to the next generation. The original trilogy wasn't even anakin's story, it was Luke's no matter how you spin it. They could focus on a new generation of the same bloodline and that wouldn't be forced at all
please stop hating on disney people. Look at the facts, when disney bought marvel we were scared they would ruin things but disney knows not to interfere with a good thing and everything has been great. Lucas sought out disney because he did his homework and knew it would be great like it has been for marvel
They couldn't say anything about the new movies because Disney has not given permission to George to say anything on it. And nor will George say a word when Star Wars merchandise is being made by children in Bangladesh for pennies an hour. Google "disney child labor sweatshops".
one thing i dislike about the prequel trilogy is what they did to the force at first it was just something that not everyone had it made that person special they took it and said oh now its something that can be measured in your body was just dumb
guys.. about Kathleen Kennedy's 'dollar signs' etc, she is not gonna fuck up the movies. If she does, she won't earn enough movies. If she totally fucks up episode 7, who the fuck is going to watch 8, or 9? Disney, and Kathleen, have no reason to fuck up Star Wars. If they do, there will be angry fans all over the world. George is watching Star Wars too. Just be happy that there will be new movies. A new way to let a new generation enjoy Star Wars. In the cinema, like it's supposed to be enjoyed
well, all those sci-fi books are short stories with some messages about humanity (my favorites), great novels like Ender's game, and the rest is Star Wars.
I'm convinced that the new movies cannot be worse than Episode I and II. They should also kill Jar Jar Binks when they're at it! Killing Jar Jar off would bring lots of moviegoers!
I will not decide anything until seeing the next installment. It could be as cool as the Thrawn Trilogy that the fans want, it could be Caravan of Courage II: The Jar Jar Connection.
I got really high expertations for these new Star Wars movies. I must admit, i thought ''Oh fuck noo...'' when i heard he sold the rights to DISNEY. But hey, look how The Avengers turned out!
The new trilogy is rubbish, but I don't have a problem with Leia using the force in space because she is the daughter of Anakin Skywalker, she's capable of doing a lot more than that.
If you can't understand that Force-sensitive people can use the Force to pull objects towards themselves, or to pull themselves towards an object, then you simply don't understand Star Wars and your opinion has virtually no value in the broader conversation.
I was hoping to give Star Wars the Last Jedi my money but I refused to see it and I boycott everything from it after seeing the direction it took, they decided to target an other audience.
She's just an inadequate. No lore like Harry Potter? Really? EU? No? "Essentialy in George's head". That's why we chose to ignore every-motherfricking-thing he have proposed to us.
It is always funny to see people get mad with things in the star wars saga, saying it "doesn't belong there". By all means, George Lucas made Star Wars, I am sure his idea's that are in the movies trump every fan boy out there. The other day a guy was talking about how some cartoon or comic portrayed Boba Fett as a Mandalorian commander... So they were pissed how SW:E2 made him a clone child of Jango Fett. Excuse him for not going with fan lore and using his own imagination.
turned out much better anyway don't know what people are complaining about. This new stuff though, now there's a bit of a problem with that but obviously nothing at all to do with George
Little did George know he was handing the reins to a real life Darth Sidious. Kathleen Kennedy is a liar and backstabber. How hateful must she be to actively destroy Star Wars after all the years she spent with George? Disgusting.
um George Lucas owns a significant number of Disney shares. It's something like 37,000,000, which gives him a real voice and the table. I think we'd know if he was unhappy with the state of the franchise, man.
@@pikarari To believe that you're either delusional or a die hard Disney simp. There are nearly 2 billion shares outstanding right now. Yes, 37 million shares is a lot for most of us but that's a drop in the bucket for Disney. George Lucas cannot exercise any substantial power against Disney much less any control over individual projects under development by a subsidiary company like LucasFilm. Get real, man.
Lucas joined the dark side, he could have "open sourced" it, so that people could dream through his movies freely without beeing tied to a bloodthirsty company.
@@jinkazama9015 you really think he was tricked ? Hahahahah you think they are smarter than him ? He wanted money and was tired of being constantly criticized for his creations he made for kids
Betrayal is a BEEEP! In short what a terrible choice of biblical proportions to leave such an time honored francise in the hands of Katleen Kennedy who clearly mismanaged in a absolute horrible way with a lot of really bad results. Please fire her ASAP! and bring back George Lucas NOW!
Here is the woman who single handed destroyed Star Wars and who tried to take us the last hope by firing Gina. You hypocrite, stop saying you support strong women because you are their nemesis.
I'm excited for more Star Wars films can't wait for Summer 2015 and beyond. Star Wars is awesome. Episodes 7 , 8 and 9 should be new stories. Not EU stories made into films. Start with a clean slate with the new films and don't be constrained by the EU stories in the books and Comics. These new films should be new adventures and not the ones based on the EU books.
She already is alluding to messing things up, inventing new force abilities (which is fine when done right) Tremendous, she does have a bit of a Trump quality in her voice.
Sucks at scriptwriting? Really? Lucas is a great screenwriter. GREAT. It's all tightly woven together. What he sucks at is two things: dialogue and direction.
It is difficult to accept new actors in classic roles, especially with Star Wars! To rerun a movie with the most beloved characters in the saga as Luke, Leia and Han Solo, do you know what would I do? The last years I have thought of using the same idea applied to the film TRON Legacy, using the same actors and scanning his face to get younger. All though the TRON still got a little fake, but if you use the ILM and especially nowadays, surely we would have a VERY nice RESULT!
it's fun reading these old comments I think we should have predicted that they would do the generational thing and just have everyone stay the age that they really are. I think that worked out pretty well. (and what age-reducing effects we did get were pretty good)
_"as we work our way through these scripts, if we're sitting here and saying,. hmm you know, i wonder if , uhh, if this character can do that? or does this make sense within in the rules of star wars, that really (points to GL) he's the keeper of the flame"_ *throws Georges idea's in the trash, never calls George again and has Luke do stuff Luke would never do* GOOD JOB KATHY!
I won't go into the Lucas bashing; not that I don't agree to a large extent but many have already filled in on those comments. I'm primarily curious how exactly are they going to fit in episodes 7 through 9 into the existing material. I'm sure that Lucas has a lot of ideas... even if the thought fills me with horror, but how much of any of it is in conflict with the existing books and comic. I am not an expert in SW lore but an incredible amount of events and history have already been filled in after the fall of Palpatine. It is not like we don't know what happened after; there are dozens of books about those events. Are the new books just going to rewrite that stuff or just film some of it? Neither prospect excites me. Not to say anything about the fact that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and rest of the old cast are way beyond the point in age where they can comfortably step in to continue those stories. Will they recast the roles? The very idea disgusts me. The only reason episodes 1 through 3 worked was because they could cast characters that we had not seen before; no matter how misguided some of those choices were .. *cough* Hayden Christensen *cough*
I use my life time for reading Star Wars novels, because I'm a fan! I like Star Wars and I'm excited in the universe GL gave us! There are many possibilities to show us untold Stories in movies! I agree with modsleix6! :) What you say is like: "Hey I hate this special teacher, so I hate every new teacher, too!" ;D But I agree in your point that there are so many good books about more important things in life! :)
So being a creative consultant left him in the dark, since he has no idea where the next trilogy and the anthology films, and any franchise following, is going.
George Lucas, is not a great writer as far as scriptwriting is concerned, he's had plot holes in many of his Star Wars movies; to give a quick example 'Empire Strikes back' - In the few hours it takes for Han & Leia to make it from Hoth to Cloud City via an Asteroid field, Luke Skywalker receives training from Yoda & STILL has time to head to Bespin and 'rescue' them? How is this possible? I'll give him Credit where credit is due, he's a good producer, he's a great director, has great imagination, but he is a terrible writer where 'logic' is concerned..If he had someone else read it, and point out the little flaws he had with his logic and structure, he would have a much tighter script.
He's a poor director. He's a great visionary and story teller. He has a fantastic imagination and can have some great ideas. However, if there's no one around to challenge or control him then his ideas are executed terribly...
First of all what movie doesn't have plot holes? Every movie that someone likes, another person finds plot holes in it. Especially when it comes to manipulating time. And we're talking about a movie that was made decades ago. The fact that people are talking about plot holes decades later doesn't take away from the writing. That doesn't stop someone from being a good screenwriter. His bad screenwriting comes from his bad dialogue. Second of all he isn't even the screen writer on episode 5. He only wrote the story.
Well there is a large amount in the expanded universe which would allow them to have Hamill, Ford and Fischer back. Like if they concentrated the new episodes on Han and Leia's children, Jaina, Jacen and Anakin Solo, they would have to be in the picture somewhere. And having Luke as the Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order would allow Hamill to reprise his role. And actually, Palpatine could possibly come back as I'm sure that he actually does in one of the books through a clone or something.
I feel that they should do Episode 7 with some of the old cast adding new cast, and then go on a different route. I mean, the books were really good, and Han and Leia's children have some great stories. So I would like to see where it goes.
Ok let me explain. The EU isn't literally an alternate universe, Lucasfilm has kept track of every single piece of EU along with the movies in a database called The Holocron, as of now, they are Canon, just a lower level of Canon than the movies. The movies are G-Canon, the EU (outside of TV) is C-Canon, and TV shows are T-Canon. There not how George would have done them, but he also said he wouldn't have made another movie. This next movie COULD keep the EU in tact, but it might not.
What happened to "There will never be another Star Wars now that I've told Anakin's story." 4 Billion makes you sing differently eh Lucas. Loyal SW fans who kept Lucas afloat from ROTJ to TPM. He doesn't need you anymore, get ready for the EU to be steamrolled for Disney's profit. Lucas thanks you for your loyalty and has altered the deal. Everyone else get ready for this franchise to be strip mined till we're all sick of it and going "ANOTHER Star Wars film. God! Die already."
I originally tout that Disney might F*** everything up. But after I've considered it I believe they may be able to bring SW back from the grave. Not that it was ever really dead. But the movies need to be revamped what with KOTOR, SWTOR, and all the other expanded universe stuff. Personally: I want to see a Darth Bane movie trilogy or KOTOR. But that's just me.
You fail to understand big corporations and the movie industry cycle of create awesome movies, mine them to death with sequels and prequels till they suck, and then reboot them.
These movies will be superb, on a level unmatched by anything you have seen before. Don't believe that? Then just quit now. Go pine for something new. Because this is no longer for you.
@hoboharriz NOOOOO! You kill Luke Skywalker, you kill most of the expanded universe! No comic or novel has dared kill one of the big three and nor should anyone but George!
I think Michael bay and the writters of transformers since they made transformers(another old series) come back and be even more popular with this generation look how much money everyone that parted with transformers Hasbro made tons so with Michael bay the Disney and Lucas films franchises would make millions if the movie was directed and written properly and made since to the die-heart star wars fans
there can still be a star wars without lucas. but without lucas there would have been no star wars. and bechause of star wars there is alot of people that gets a good imagination. bechause of that. people will be able to continiue star wars with new ideas that may be better then some of lucas ideas. so there may be a good future for star wars even if disney owns lucasfilm i meen they may do the same as marvel :)
Why would he have to buy back the company? He sold away all the rights to it, he's not going to get any revenue from it whether it does good or bad, other then the value in Disney stocks he now owns from the deal. The fact that he had no intention of making another film mainly because of all the hate he got from people is proof enough that he won't be buying it back, if the movie flops it'll be even worse. How would that make him want to take it back and remake it.
This is wrong in so many levels. Movies are one thing: They are all about Anakin's life. (Just think about it; ep I, childhood; ep III, fall to the dark side, ep VI, death *the end*) The worst thing is, that according to this, they don't even seem to know what they're doing. So why can't they make movies about kotors, other games, eu...?
Ya but with the avengers that was the first movie. Star wars has 6 other movies that she has to work off of. Follow the story, which characters, there's alot of things that could mess up. But they do have a chance of it acually doing well! so im not in total disagreement.
