Rheems tankless water heater installation Model # RTG-70XLP-1 Liquid Propane Gas (LPG) unit.In this video I will show you all the tips and trick of (How I Do What I DO) with over 40 year of DIY experience fixing replacing repairing and upgrading my own home as well as helping other with their DIY projects I have become a Jack of all trades so to speak.
This Rheems water heater was installed in an afternoon at my Cabin in Arizona at the time it was hooked up to a 5 or 7 Gal Propane tank..But today after several weeks of work Im able to connect it to a 120 gal tank. I was very happy with how easy it was to install as well as the way it works... I hope everyone that watches this video learn something from it. That is my main goal with wanting to share these videos with others.

Yesterday I was at the hardware store asking about connecting LP to my new tankless water heater. I asked specifically whether to use pipe dope and or Teflon tape for gas connections. The reply was to always use pipe dope. I plan to double check on this with a plumber friend who installs these. And to think that I was planning to simply drill a hole in through to pass the rubber, propane line to connect to the tankless. Yikes! My house is also on piers so I sure appreciate your video.

It is a special Teflon tape made for this type of use...I would never use pipe dope EVER.You can do what you want. The GAS company that did all my repairs on my tank and then filled it with Propane said they never use pipe dope. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

@@diymrscott4983 The plumber told me to use pipe dope. I ended up using propane specific Teflon tape and pipe dope for propane. It doesn’t leak, checked it three times. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Looks very professional!! Learning from watching someone who's good at what they're doing then going out and putting what's been seen to use is how we all learn to do good work. It's when we listen to those who are just lookout for attention and have no talent of their own is when we ourselves falter and become useless.. I'd much prefer learning from someone of your caliber in order to do well and possibly pass it on one day as well. Thanks again for all your time! It's been an adventure so far. I'm looking forward to what's coming next.

That's exactly what I was looking for, doing the same thing but smaller tank, the only problem is I took a drink every time you said Teflon tape and had quite the buzz at the end of the video, great video but too buzzed to work on mine😂😂

Just an idea that I do when applying your Teflon tape is to flip the tape real around so that it feeds from the bottom and over the top of a nipple clockwise just like you already do it really helps get it tighter and its easier to control the tape just my 2 cents! Great video!

I cant believe gas co filled it without u having everything hooked up so they could inspect it and perform a leak test.. Also thats an asme propane tank therefore it doesn't require an inspection as a dot tank would Good thing is they replaced all your valves in the tank

Hey, what kind of regulator do you have coming off the 125g large propane tank? How did you determine what diameter LPG line to use?

Your sediment trap is turned the wrong way Gas has to change direction for it to be useful Also, the shut-off valve should be before the appliance connector going to the water heater

Shouldn’t there be a high pressure “first stage” regulator at the tank and then a lower pressure “second stage” regulator at the heater that reduces the pressure from pounds to inches?
