Hello and thank you so much for the honesty and professionalism from the both of you. I've had 1 new install and 2 re-installs because of slippage. Currently I am working with a new Sisterlocs consultant (very positive sister). For those of us coming from hands-in-hair loose natural, it was an expensive lesson. My Sisterlocs are blossoming and heading in the right direction ( 8 months). WATER is dangerous for your Sisterlocs that have not matured. Now my consultant is having the color conversation with me and she is adamant about me waiting because of my curl pattern. #StayStrong
My loctician also advised me not to spritz with water, rose water etc. I’m 9 mos Sisterloc’d and I have fine thin low density hair. My loctician said “Water is not your friend”!! And I would endure extreme slippage. Did I listen? To be totally honest no I didn’t take heed. I spritz occasionally once a week or every two weeks. But I have not experienced any slippage! I do think that my locs would settle more or mature faster if I didn’t spritz with water. So dry Sisterlocs it is until I’m completely mature settled and LOC’D. Great video. F2F talks are everything lol
I think that's the best for me as well. I got a bit comfortable and let my guard down a bit, but like you said until they are ready its going to have a wait.
Great information. Yes, water will destroy your locs. If your locs are not mature braid and band. I learned the hard-way. I recently went on vacation and I couldn't resist going in the water. Girl, I experienced soo much slippage around the perimeter of my hair. My loctician has work to do. I know I'm going to need an extra hour. I'm a bit scared 😱 to see her. She's going to give me that talk.
The dreaded "talk" 😂 I honeslty didn't even think about how what I was doing was having such an effect on them because in my head I wasn't doing too much. Lol. However, I am happy that we had that talk so I can make some changes and help out my viewers as well.
I was told the exact same by my consultant about spritzing my hair when I asked. I have done it maybe twice on my 10 month journey so far. Absolutely unnecessary.
