A massage bar is a solid butter/oil that melts on contact with warm skin. My favorite body product.
Edens Secret
Lotion Bar / Massage Bar Recipe
190g (6.8oz) Cocoa Butter
150g (5.3oz) Beeswax
100g (3.5oz) Shea Butter
50g (2.1oz) Sunflower Oil
25g (1(oz)Fragrance or 15g Essential oil of your choice.
Melt these oils together in a
pyrex jug. I use a microwave,
you can also use a double boiler
(water in a pan then your bowl of oils on top just like you melt chocolate). Check Temperature.
Add fragrance when melted oils are 150
degrees Stir in FO and leave for
2 minutes, stir again.

I may be inside the US but I’m loving the Silkomart molds! They are so worth the price and shipping. So sturdy and very durable! I also absolutely LOVE Massage/Body Butter Bars. I have one everywhere in my house, purse, car etc... I adore those you made. Those design are absolutely GORGEOUS!!

I love that signature Edens Secret golden rose. Using the psychedelic bar I got this year and LOVING it. The glitter lasted a while on top which was a wonderful surprise. I use my water dispursable dyes (powdered) for my bath bombs and they are a pretty penny (hundreds actually). The colour show they make are worth it for bath art but not soap making IMO.

Fast colours might do that red. You can buy 20g samples for around £8.00 plus 1kg bulk powders. 😀 You can then, make up your own diluted batches with glycerine.

Fruit fragrances in fruit shapes would be awesome. Like pineapple scent in a pineapple shape or lemon scent in a lemon shape.

I store mine in the fridge now, I lost track of one of yours actually in the back where the water coils are. I found it 5+ years later and it was just like fresh made after the very thinest outer layer came away. If the man of the house hadn't been like an ogre rooting around in my fridge, I'd have not been involved in this accidental experiment. Hope that helps someone.

Hey Grape Ape!! Love the name, I remember "Grape Ape" from when I was a kid...I'm telling my age!! LOL I was going to comment also on how long I have happened to have a few lotion bars in my frig too. I always keep them in the frig anyway but did find some hidden in the back and they were at least 3 years old...they were perfect! How awesome is that!! Unrelated to this video (which I’ve watched many times) I’ve been trying out bath bombs and body butters (all inspired by yourself) but my kitchen scales are not very accurate and struggle with small weight. Was wondering if you could suggest good scales I could purchase. Thank you.

This is one product I have never tried ! Looks amazing.... how do you stop it melting on your fingers when you are rubbing it onto the skin ?? PS Karen have a look at Soaposh, they do the same red non bleed colourant for much cheaper, it may not be as concentrated but worth a try xxx Best wishes

Great video! What type of colours do you use for lotion bars? I make my own, just for myself, and i use Mica, and the colour always sinks and stays on one side of the bar :(. Thank you!

OH, it hurt my feelings to hear you start to talk about the CV and then the music turn on, i got excited.l0l.... I would love incite to what is happening over the pond! as you probably know the US has been placed in a state of emergency. from the news i am hearing almost all the schools in the country have closed. I'm sure they all will be closed before Monday. In my state they have set up quarantine "camps" and our governor has brought in the national guard.. Im sure to keep the peace in the big cities.. All the stores around my area have been picked clean. I have been seeing videos of this happening in every state. Stay safe, and God Bless!!

When you remelt the oil does it takes away from the vitamins in the oil

No as long as you don’t overheat, remelt on very low, keep an eye on it and as soon as most of the oil is melted take it off, keep stirring and the heat will melt those bits that haven’t melted

Hi Karen, I loved this video.. just a question.. was that red colouring a water soluble dye or lake of some sort? Was it pre mixed in something? I'm soo curious now as I am looking for something like this to use as a red :)

Yes, it's a water soluble pigment. You could always use a mica, best option would be an oil based colour. but I don't have any of those. The red is CI12490

So after making these u put them in the Fridge for how long or do u put them in the freezer ? And for how long?

I didn't put these in the fridge. If you want to put them in the fridge, let them set on their own (not in a fridge or freezer) overnight, you can put them in the fridge for 1 to 4 hours. Freezer for 15 mins to 30mins, no more because they can crack, then you will have to start all over again.

Question: do lotion bars melt in warmer weather. I know the melt on your skin but I’m wondering if they will stay solid on the shelf.

They can melt a little. I've shipped to hotter countries but they haven't fully melted, just kinda soft on the outside. Good cure of a week before shipping will help with this. I've never had a report of a bar fully melting. BUT I have had a report in the past of a jar of whipped shea butter fully melting in transit.

I usually only make whipped body butter, sugar scrubs in the winter and only offer them at craft shows. I’ve shipped a couple without problems but I definitely can’t have them in stock during the spring/summer. I’m thinking of putting the lotion bar in a tin so if it did happen to melt they could still use it and it wouldn’t ruin anything.
