Considering just how fricking massive and heavy heatsinks and GPUs are these days ( a trend which apparently won't stop anytime soon ), wouldn't a horizontal system work better than a vertical one? I mean, that CPU heatsink looks like it could fall at any moment, know it won't, but the stress it must put on the sockets must be huge, same goes for that monster GPU.

I stopped using thermal paste, and using a pad is incredibly simple to use .I did testing by burning with a lighter and holding with my finger that did hurt and was amazing.

I accidentally flipped the slow switch when doing a case swap recently. After 2 hours of trying to figure out why my PC sucks now I finally figured out that a slow switch existed haha.

Hahahaha I had the exact moment 3 days ago when I installed a new sound card and removed my graphics cars for that. Forgot to put power cables in aswell. Thought I fried it when the lights didn’t turn on. VERY scary 3 minutes until I realized what’s the problem

I also have a story related to PC repair. Recently I went to a friend to replace his thermal paste because he was having problems with performance, and when I saw that he was having thermal throttling, I thought it was probably about the paste because his cooling was good. everything took 10 minutes (5 of which took cleaning the IHS and Cooling from the paste that had not been changed for 4 years). I installed the cooler, connected the fan and turned on the computer. everything was fine but suddenly something started beeping. I look at the board and the debug LED is lit. I have a pre-infarction condition and I wonder how on earth, when I was in high school studying computer technology, I could have ruined my friend's computer by applying paste. I looked at the LEDs and saw that the GPU LED was lit. I turned off the computer and the first thing I thought was that I might need to connect a monitor. I plugged it in and it worked, but I literally fell over because I felt so stressed out that I had never had before. The moral of this story is that there is no moral

I had a mobo similar to this one, Model Z170A Gaming M5. Turned on that mode even though the switch wasn't flipped. Have to disable the intel thermal sensor to get it to go beyond 800mhz. Msi released a bulletin about it a long time ago.

I have a similar story involving not plugging in the GPU. I got a blue screen of death once when playing Deep Rock Galactic and thought it was something with the GPU. I did things such as reseating the GPU and RAM and resetting the CMOS battery (I think that was what fixed it in the end). When my GPU suddenly wasn't working, though, I was convinced the Glyphid Dreadnaught that spawned in DRG right before the crash had killed my GPU. Turns out I had forgotten to plug the power cable back into the GPU, and it didn't hit me until I was laying in bed that night. LOL XD

when you inserted the power switch, the other wires were reversed, I think they were inserted minus to plus, usually they always have the inscriptions facing up
