Seeing this made me proud of myself bc I have been doing this for a while and to see a professional say it I gave myself a pat on the back lol love your content btw
I ALWAYS had smelly washcloths, dish towels, dry mats and towels. I did so many of these tips. I threw everything away, started brand new and stopped using fabric softner (liquid & sheets) and throw in 2 wool dryer balls. Been 2 years now and still no mildew smells. I also make sure i dont let things sit in piles and dont forget about them in the washer.
Your washer may also be gunky with mildew and grime, which liquid fabric softener waxy residues harbor. Step1: ditch fabric softener Step2: run a hot water cycle or 2 with bleach, and then another with vinegar.
I use vinegar in every wash in all my clothes it takes the smell out and replaces fabric softener. I have also stop buy plug in and other deodorizers for my home and car. I just put vinegar in a a little dish and it absorb airborne odors especially smoke and fried foods.
Yes! Vinegar is great! Do y'all remember the old Downy Balls? If you don't have a newer washing machine (like me) with a dispenser, I put the vinegar in the Downey Ball at the Rinse Cycle--no fabric softener. Pine-Sol is also a great booster to add to any wash...just check the back of the bottle for more info! I also love the "purple" OxyClean b/c it deodorizes better, absolutely! Great tips & new sub! 💖
@cristyglagola2448 mine too! I use to use tide w/ oxy now its persil. Love it! You don't need a lot and it gets ur clothes smelling so good n fresh! #obsessed
Since she didn't mention it, the vinegar should go in the fabric softener rinse slot. Still won't smell, just disinfect and soften. Better for clothes and your washer.
A little shot of regular white vinegar in your fabric softener container would eliminate the extra water usage and electricity to run the extra cycle and be a lot less expensive. I don't ever have static cling or any odors on my clothes. A jug of plain white vinegar is less than $2 and I use 3 a month. Maybe try it for a month.
@ruthfrancois8972 I'm not sure what you are trying to tell me? 🤔 I don't use fabric softener because of that and I didn't suggest using it. When you use vinegar it removes odors and eliminates static.
It may take a couple of washings with vinegar to get the smell out depending on how strong it is. I even did my mother in law’s towels with vinegar only (no detergent) to get the smell out
Sometimes you need to strip them. But I found out that the CLOROX disinfectant in the BLUE BOTTLE will usually strip them for you. Instead of detergent. Use it in the wash and the softener compartment. Also, if you can let them soak for at least 30 minutes or more and make sure the EXTRA RINSE AND FULL WATER IS ON AS WELL....
@@HuskerRed11all you need is a downy ball. It is used for if you don’t have a fabric softener area in your washer. The liquid will come out of the ball during the spin cycle. I love mines
I love vinegar for cleaning everything. My husband can stand it though. Also be careful in the washer not to use it too often. It can literally melt the hoses over time
I also use vinegar in my boys work clothes (they are tradies in different fields) it’s a game changer……..also with a house of 7 I use it in the underwear, socks ect loads.
I love the purple Oxi Clean, I use it on all my towels and bed linens. Sometimes on my men stinky clothes too, I guaranteed you, it will take away all the nasty smells.
Sometimes it’s not even about the soap or water but the front load washers. They keep moisture in and grow bad stuff 😂😅😂. You’ll need to dry it by leaving it open with a fan in front OR THROW IT AWAY AND GET A TOP OPEN washer! Those front loads look clean but are stupid costly!
I haven't had an issue with mine . Recently replaced my first front load after 12 years of solid, almost daily use washing baby to adult clothes, including barn & work / trade clothes, comforters, sleeping bags & winter jackets. Had to replace it only because the bearings wore out. It washes a hell of a lot better than my mom's new top load.
I have been using vinegar as my rinse cycle for at least 3 years and I have soft clothes and I haven't had static since using vinegar. I also save a lot of money not buying fabric softener! And boy oh boy did I use fabric softener back in the day. I do use the same oxy clean to keep my whites white and to remove the odors.
@idreaminlandscapes I use regular white vinegar. I buy the big jugs from Walmart or whoever has it on sale for the best price. I just use a scoop to fill it up and pour it right into the rinse container. I'm careful not to get vinegar on the outside of my washer because undiluted vinegar left to sit on your washer will leave a mark. But I've been doing this for years and never have static or odor issues at all with any of my laundry. I probably go through 3 jugs a month which is about $6 total here in Canada. 👍🏼
I recently learned mixing vinegar with laundry detergent increased the risk of the detergent not washing properly - because the vinegar messes with the proper pH balance, of the detergent..
It's never too late to start. Put things away immediately after use, clean and keep everything clean, wash up sweep & mop, daily. Dust and polish regularly. OInly buy what is required not what you like. A little bit at a time, being ruthless to throw things out / give away (or just don't buy). If you don't do these things regularly the cleaning and stuff piles up making it harder for yourself. (But not impossible to tackle). There are loads of easy videos on You Tube to follow just pick one to your liking. Then Start!
@@missc541 Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. You are very kind to put that type of info out there. I have been trying so hard. It is so easy for me to help someone else. But, me my self. I stall and leave it for later. Only now.. Watching what houses are suppose to look like. I am totally ashamed. Again thank you.. :)
Do you recommend the same amount of detergent, 2 teaspoons, for clothes also? Will you do a video on that showing how much detergent we need per load? I know the fill lines on the detergent caps aren't accurate.
Don’t use liquid soap in front loaders and you will avoid the moldy residue on the gasket. Had to replace mine even though I consistently left the door open to let it air dry. The tech warned me and he was right. The gasket costs $$ to replace-you can’t clean away the mold.
My father in law used to own laundromats and it’s not the liquid soap itself but using too much of it and then closing the door. Use less and leave the door to front loader open when not in use. I use 1oz max of liquid detergent and double rinse my towels. We’ve had the same front loader for almost 16 years with no issues.
I use Charlie's soap, 1/2 cup baking soda, & Oxi clean in the drum then white distilled vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser along with a few drops of essential oils of your choosing. I use dryer balls in the dryer and that helps dry your clothes faster. My clothes have never felt nor smelled cleaner.
Put in machine. Add a tiny amount of detergent, wash in hot water to kill bugs and high spin to dry quicker. Hang on line to mostly dry. Return to bathroom.
Hi Van. The most beautiful cleaner full glam and fabulous mood. Van pls do a vid how to clean the walls and ceiling of a smokers room or house. I used Scrubbin Bubbles from SC Johnson and grease came from the walls and ceiling like crazy
This is excellent thank you!! Question: do you have any recommendations on hand-washing dishes?? We live in NY and space is limited so...NO dishwasher 😢 and I have never gotten it under control. Help please and thank you! 😘 Mimi
I do this for my black clothes also, to keep them black. I wash my blacks in Vinager only. No smell. But I do spray the crotch and armpits with a Vinager water, soap solution. Also any stains.
Please be careful using the vinegar in your washing machine. It can damage the seals in some washing machines. I'm attaching the info I found online regarding this. **Vinegar is sometimes used as a fabric softener or for getting rid of stains and odors in laundry. But as with dishwashers, it can damage the rubber seals and hoses in some washing machines to the point of causing leaks.
Yes girl! Also the softner part... i never would of thought it made them waterproof and it makes sense! Its like a brand new towel, doesnt soak up a single thing. My husband taught me, that you dont even need to add soap to the towels every load. Load some and start it and in a bit open it and youll see the suds. Because most people use WAY TOO MUCH soap and yeah it gets trapped in the towels. ❤❤❤❤ love your videos and DEFINITELY love the tricks and tips!!!!!!!!!! GET IT GIRL! ❤
Persil has been my favorite for decades now and it’s the only thing that I will ever wash my clothes in, I’m allergic to dryer sheets and softening liquid, so I use those wool balls to soften our clothes 🥰
First of all you are gorgeous and I would let you clean my house but only when my man is gone! Hahaha! I'm just saying your gorgeous and you know how to keep a house! Men love that. And, I hope all these products pay you something because everything you say you love, I buy right away!!!! You are awesome. I love your content!!!!!
I use persil! My roommate said it was an off brand. I told her she was SADLY MISTAKEN! Lol. You just keep using your Sams kind and I’ll use what I want. Lol.
I know so many people use vinegar but there’s always that one comment that says not to because it “ruins rubber seals”. Anyone have this actually happen to them?
As a housekeeper I dont wash my clients laundry 😂. They are 2 male young adults and an older man they handle their laundry themselves. I am there though to keep up the house. I do all the sweeping , mopping, dusting, bathrooms, vaccuming, some organizing, keep track of household supplies and deep cleaning as its a very big home and ovens and baseboards/walls and high items like celing fans need deep cleaning about every 4 monnths or so. I will only use vinegar on floors once and a while. I use quality cleaning products that are made for what is being cleaned and do not use this and that homemade cleaning concoctions. They wash their own laundry and use the dishwasher though. 😂 😊
What type of vinegar should I use? I live in Spain and the basic vinegar here is white wine vinegar, is it the same thing? Or should I buy the cleaning vinegar?
