I love modifying my gear and the Romanian rucksack and Polish bread bag are perfect for projects. The latest name brand gear is fun and awesome but there's also a special place for gear that you have made to suit you!
You blow my mind with the Creations you come up with. You have a Great Mind for sure. If I get lost in the woods I rather be with your family for sure ❤️
You should do a survival excavation and take a bunch of people in the woods and show them how to use what they have to survive. This video is awesome. You are a good teacher
I would suggest a silicone coating on the back portion. The more water proof the materials the more heat the area will retain. Cool to see you still playing with those pouches.
Perfect, I hadn't thought of doing that! The silicone coating would definitely cut down on the heat generated, great idea! Those pouches work fantastic and the ceramic rod I put a handle on and use that for sharpening the WSK :)
Really clever mod putting the bungy cord in the sides of the Polish bread bag. I'm about to order a couple, and I have another little haversack that has that same problem of the sides sticking out from the top flap. I was wondering if the Polish bread bags would do the same. So I'll definitely be using that mod to fix the issue. Your leatherwork is really nicely done, it looks great.
Love the color of the new leather. Def. Some inspirations for backpack mods. With waxed gear I seem to have issues in warmer climates with it melting if I leave it in the hot car for too long. In colder climates no issues.
Hey man, those mods are great! I have the polish bag & the rucksack as well.. just havent modified any of them. You did a Great job with them, but im afraid my sewing skills are pretty bad. Keep on doing you! And also, for a Perfect couple, Check out the romanian haversack, a Little bigger and the Same canvas Leather combo than on the backpack! surplus Stuff is awesome 👍
Thank you so much! I learned how to do a saddle stitch while making leather packs and bags so that has transferred over as a handy skill. The best part about that is all you need are a few hand tools needle and thread. I will definitely check out the Romanian bread bag because it would be really cool to have a match set :)
Awesome Mods and resourcefulness, your definitely putting the Craft in bushcrafting! I just bought the same rucksack partly due to your mods videos. Since I'm a complete noob to hand leather sewing I figured it would make a cheap and great learning opportunity. Any tips or info resources you could pass along? I wish I could offer you insight on the canvas waxing but I'm learning that as i go along too. Best of luck from PA!
Thank you so much, the Romanian Rucksack is really a great base to make your own! Definitely check out videos on how to do a saddle stitch, look up burr rivets and check out the Springfield Leather website. I have bought my supplies from them for years and their shipping is awesome. Please let me know how your Rucksack turns out!
Merci!
plastic buckles and leather straps? mmmmm not my taste, so I pass this DIY project, otherwise I am well inclined towards modifications (except when piece has historical value)
