Great Video... I just ordered the CT Roll N Lock from your site. Looks like a great upgrade from the Kong Duck. Thanks again 😊👍

What are you running for saddles?

Sweating y’all’s asses off! No way we could do this in louisiana when half the hunting season is in the 90-80 degree temps, you’d be soaking wet with sweat stinking up the woods

How you guys hunting down there ? I was hanging out with Benny from Buzzard Roost a few weeks back . He has one of my climbing kits he’s planning on using . You could get some good feedback from him

How high do you move with each bite? /how long to get ton20-25 feet?

Im only 5'5" Id say Im geting about a foot per thrust. Its a 2:1 ratio because your pulling over the limb.

I'm looking into this 9.5 mm Sterling b4 I scout this late winter/spring in MN. I have places that u really need a Dan House friction saver but I climb the 🌳 in the off-season & then put my safety line lanyard around the 🌳 just below my crotch while I have a foothold on a lower branch & I disconnect my climbing line. Then I put that Dan House around that crotch & leave it there. Then I want to take that Sterling through it & reconnect my open system & rappel down. When I get to the ground I want to replace the Sterling with the paracord. The problem with the Predator climbing line is that the Dan House friction saver is just too small to do with this method. This is in a couple of large oaks. One my paracord is stuck in the right & only crotch & I really need that 🌳 & another like it to work for me in 2023. Nobody on public can hunt these 🌳 & they r in prime locations. Your thoughts please. Thanks guys, really like your new channel & store that supports it.

You shouldn’t have a problem with 11.4 predator going through that tube friction saver. I’ve setup that exact system up several times myself . In fact 1/2” line travels through very easily. We have a video where we install the friction saver from the ground so you should never have to come off your rope while in the tree . You should have no problem pulling your climbing line through with paracord present loop . Another really good idea is for guys who hunt northern climates and had there presets frozen in the crotch. These tubes are a great way to remedy that problem. You can leave them in place all season and retrieve them when season ends

I've been DRT hunting the last two seasons using Sampson Predator and it has been great. I have been looking for a smaller climbing line. Can I use this rope with just a Blake's hitch and the hip thrust method?
@NYSaddleHunter
@NYSaddleHunter Год назад
You can with the aid of a 8mm split tail . This rope will work with both styles ( SRT DRT ). It’s just to static to tie and dress a hitch on its own . But works great with the split tail

Great Video, FYI Rubber auto body grommets also work well to reduce noise for hunting where the foot loop connects to the CT quick roll.

That’s pretty much the setup that I’ve used the past year or so, but I use predator rope. I don’t use a tending pulley, I snap a small carabiner directly to the rope under the schwabish. Probably not as smooth as the pulley, but still works just fine.
@NYSaddleHunter
@NYSaddleHunter 2 года назад
I’ve tried it that way also Joshua . When the Roll n lock came out I knew it would assist tending much smoother. It also make a great rope grab attachment on your tether as a micro ascender with a higher rating at 20 kn It leads the competition

I still can't get over how awesome this system (drt) can be when you have giant oaks that can't be accessed as easily by any other portable climbing system. Thanks for doing what you do! I plan to hunt more this season & even dust off the old saddle a few times.

I’ve climbed every tree imaginable throughout my climbing career. It’s without a doubt the safest, most mobile and practical way to gain entry into your sets .

That’s great, you guys look like really experienced climbers. Thanks for your videos and channel. I found your channel when I was looking for new ways to ascend a tree last year. And now I’m on a rope system and it’s great, thank you. I learned a lot here. Have you guys considered doing a demo or trial of the JRB climbing system? I’ve been experimenting with that system and ask because I’d like to see some experienced guys demo it? Thanks.

Thanks JD. I have been climbing in the tree care industry for 35 yrs. Joe and I have been hunting together for 40 yrs. When I taught him these rope techniques he took to it like a duck to water and never looked back. It is an awesome way to safely access our tree stands and platforms. Beyond excited that you share the same passion in climbing this way ! I leave JRB’s climbing style to his prowess . John is a very knowledgeable climber. I’ve attended several of his saddle get togethers. He is a wealth of information and is passionate about sharing it. Our styles share some things in common. But we both share a commitment to putting a hunters safety first and foremost!!!

I'm not a mechanical device guy but this video sparked an idea. And maybe this has already been known. I have been doing the JRB system largely because I don't want to tie knots at the tree. But I'm thinking now I could do DRT and have my friction hitch pre tied and instead of having it tied to the descending side of the rope, just clip my bridge into it like you did in this video. Does that make sense? If so this could be the best and simplest climbing method
@NYSaddleHunter
@NYSaddleHunter 2 года назад
Absolutely. In two different fashions also. 5’ split tail tied in a Blake’s hitch. Or a double eye Prussic cord tied in a Schwabisch hitch. You can leave both on your rope for a pre tied option . Both John and I are big proponents of rope climbing. We’ve known each other for yrs !

@@NYSaddleHunter awesome. Don't know why I never thought of that until I saw you do that in this video. That was one of the things keeping me from doing drt. Thanks for the help!
