in hindsight, this video would probably have been better if it's divided into like 3 parts counters and connector small kanas in comics/light novels small kanas for foreign languages

The small ラリルレロ are used in Ainu because the final '-r' typically duplicates the previous vowel. Golden Kamuy watchers might notice Asirpa's name is pronounced as 'アシリパ / As(h)iripa', which is actually correct Ainu pronunciation, and explains why it's not Japanese-ified as 'asirupa'

Interesting videos. Ive just recently learned kata and am starting on kanji. Its interesting to hear about this stuff. The small tsu at the end of sentences was really confusing me lol. Thanks for clearing that up. 👌

Is that the same 「が」as in 「君が代」? So the whole phrase means something like 「皇帝の時代」?

yeah i guess they just aren't seen as an official use, despite people use them. this is what you find when you delve deep into languages.

basically there are too many of them and japan want there to be just a general solution for all kanas to be made small, rather than introducing individual characters
