Part 3: This short video series will help you diagnose just about any fault on a graphics card. This is not exactly a repair guide, it is a methodical sequence of tests that, if you follow them, will tell you what part of the circuit is faulty. You can make almost all of these tests using just a multimeter. You can then decide if the fault is something you can repair yourself, but you will know what is wrong with the graphics card. In this episode we learn how to recognise and test the voltage rails on just about any GPU

Another great in-depth introductional video, thank you for that! One note: Not everybody owns a Fluke or a good milliohms meter; in fact some cheaper multimeters even "round down" to 0 Ohms when there is actually 2-3 Ohms of resistance - and on really modern GPUs .2 Ohms is a perfectly valid reading on Vcore. This is why I skip measuring vcore resistance, you just can't tell if it's valid, a short, or just your lead's resistance you measure.

Thanks for the video, is it significant when testing components that they should be under load rather than unloaded? I read that in automotive electrical diagnostics that circuit and components should be under load when testing with a multimeter

Hi Richard What do you do when the fan controller chip appears to be not working? The card otherwise works. Have you tried to repair one of these? The card (GTX 950m) still works well but of course gets too hot under load. I’m thinking of soldering the yellow and black wires from the fan lead to the 6 pin power connector or running a lead to one of motherboard fan headers. This will give me a fan but no feedback control. Is there a better way to fix it?
