I'm getting started with MPLAB X on a SAMD21Xplained board and even though the HW is completely different from yours this video was insanely helpful. Thank you for making it! After watching your video I was able to get my pins and clocks configured, add USART and RTC and stdio support, and get some basic timed output working in short order.

Hi i have been playing with pic micros for a long time and watched this video on the MCC. I am using a PIC16F1847 chip which is in the mid range 8 bit controller family. I did this routine with the new version of melody which is going to replace the classic MCC. I went through the set and ran it and I copied and pasted everything you did in your video and it worked perfectly. I was suprise to learn that you didnt make any video after the MCC switch demo. I did find the tutorial on you website. thank you Michael Johnston

Nice tutorial. MCC does not work in MPLAB IDE. But works on Classic mode when using standalone app. Melody is not working on it either. Content Manger Wizard doesn't show on the IDE at all. I first thought it was lack of memory on the desktop. So I added another 4GB. but the result is same. . I am having windows 7 64bit. Any idea what might be the reason.

I see, very much like Cube IDE for the stm chips....cheers.

Why should I use 4.75v instead of 5v ?

It doesn't really matter on the performance side and sometimes you will definitely want to select 5V. But, in our experience, sometimes the PICKit3 or PICKit4 throws an error when it tries to produce 5V. If it works consistently for you at 5V, that's great, but if it does have any issues, just drop the voltage a bit and you should be fine.
